The influence of periods on microstructure, adhesion and hardness of [Ti/TiB2]n multilayered films was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that the monolayer TiB2 films exhibit (001) preferred orientation, and the preferred orientation of [Ti/TiB2], multilayered films transfers from (001) to (100) with the increase of periods. The cross-sectional morphology of each film displays homogeneity by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The hardness of the films measured via nanoindention changes from 20 to 26 GPa with the increase of periods. These values of hardness are a bit lower than that of the monolayer TiB2 films which is up to 33 GPa. However, the [Ti/TiB2]n multilayered films present a considerably good adhesion, which reaches a maximum of 24 N, in comparison with the monolayer TiB2 films according to the experimental results.展开更多

Composition and structure properties were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. It is found that mole concentrations of Zr and Nb are affected by Vb, which leads to the increase of binding energy of N 1s and Al 2p and decrease of binding energy of Zr 3d5/2 and Nb 3d5/2. Surface morphologies evolution controlled by Vb could be observed. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction patterns reveal that these films show a(111) preferred orientation. Moreover, mechanical property and corrosion behavior of ZrNbAlN films were characterized by nanoindentation test and corrosion test, respectively. A maximum value of 21.85 GPa at-70 V occurs in the ZrNbAlN- bronze system, which outperforms uncoated bronze. Corrosion experiments in 0.5 mol/L NaCl and 0.5 mol/L HCl solution show that corrosion potential and corrosion current are dependent on Vb, and better anti-corrosion property could be obtained at-90 V.展开更多

Isothermal oxidation behavior was investigated at 950?1150 °C in air, and then analyzed using scanning electronic microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that oxidation mass gain kinetics of the samples with and without RE elements follow the parabolic law. The effect of 0.20% RE on oxidation resistance is relatively small, and the oxidation rate constant of the alloy modified with 0.20% RE addition decreases by 5.9%?9.0%. Oxidation at 950?1150 °C for 100 h results in the formation of MnCr2O4, Cr2O3 and SiO2. A continuous and protective MnCr2O4 spinel layer forms as outer layer. With three different combinations, namely, PZT, PT/PZT-PZT/PT, and PT/PZT/-/PZT/PT, three multilayer thin films were deposited on three Pt-Ti-Si3N4-SiO2-Si substrates by a modified sol-gel process. The fabrication process of the thin films is discussed in detail. We found that there is a large built-in stress in the thin film, which can be diminished by annealing at 600 ℃, when the gel is turned into solid material through drying and sintering. The Raman scattering spectra of the films with different compositions and structures were investigated. With the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyzer and Raman scattering spectra analyzer, it was found that the thin films with the PT/PZT-PZT/PT structure have reasonable crystallinity and less residual stress. XRD testing shows that the diffraction pattern of the multilayer film results from the superimposition of the PZT and PT patterns. This leads to the conclusion that the PT/PZT-PZT/PT multilayer thin film has a promising future in pyroelectric infrared detectors with high performance.展开更多

Experimental results in the machining of the Al-Si alloy with diamond coated inserts are presented. Considering the fact that high adhesive strength and fine surface morphology play an importance role in the applications of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond films, multilayer technique combining the hot filament CVD (HFCVD) method is proposed, by which multilayer diamond-coating on silicon nitride inserts is obtained, microcrystalline diamond (MCD)/ nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) film. Also, the conventional monolayer NCD and MCD coated inserts are produced for comparison. Vibrating sample magnetometer and X-ray diffraction analyser were applied to study the magnetic properties and microstructures of the films. Permeation behaviors of ethylene, ethane, propylene, propane, n-butane, methane and nitrogen through the multilayer composite membranes were investigated over a range of operating temperature and pressure. The permeances of light hydrocarbons through PEI/PDMS/PEBA1657/PDMS composite membranes increase with their increasing condensability, and the olefins are more permeable than their corresponding paraffins. For light hydrocarbons, the gas permeances increase significantly as temperature increasing. When the transmembrane pressure difference increases, the gas permeance increases moderately due to plasticization effect, while their apparent activation energies for permeation decrease.展开更多
