The main considerations are: reduction in stress intensity factor (SIF) at the crack tip, the maximum tensile stress in the composite patch and the maximum shear stress in the adhesive bond between the patch and the plate. Without the patch, a tensile or compressive stress parallel to the crack has no effect on the SIF at the crack tip. While with a composite patch, there exists coupling effect between the normal stress parallel to the crack and the SIF, and the coupling effect depends significantly on ply orientation of the patch and the biaxial stress ratio of the plate.展开更多

Several drained triaxial tests were carried out on Silica sand No.5 under 3 MPa confining pressure to produce the pre-crushed sands in simulating the high- pressure shear process on soil to result in particle breakage, and then the pre-crushed sands were re- sheared in series of drained triaxial tests to investigate the mobilized strengths of the pre-crushed sands in detecting the influence of particle breakage. It was found that, by deteriorating strain-stress behavior, particle breakage resulted in change of stress-dilataney behavior in translation and rotation of the relation of the dilatancy factor and the effective principal stress ratio. For a given initial void ratio, particle breakage resulted in impairment of dilatancy behavior of soil to be more contractive in deterioration of the mobilized friction angle and the mobilized dilatancy angle and reduction of void ratio. However, particle breakage resulted in increase of the mobilized basic friction angle especially before failure. In addition, the influence of particle breakage on the mobilized strengths was revealed to be influenced by the shear stress-strain state.展开更多

In the gravitational stress field, the rocks in the shallow area are in an elastic state and the deep, relatively soft rock may be in a plastic state. However,in the tectonic stress field, the relatively soft rock in the shallow area is in a plastic state and the deep rock in an elastic state. A method is proposed to estimate stress values in coal and soft rock based on in-situ measurements of hard rock. Our estimation method relates to the type of stress field and stress state. The equations of rock stress in various stress states are presented for the elastic, plastic and critical states. The critical state is a special stress state, which indicates the conversion of the elastic to the plastic state in the gravitational stress field and the conversion of the plastic to the elastic state in the tectonic stress field. Two cases stud-ies show that the estimation method is feasible.展开更多

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis were carried out before and after deformation of the samples. The results indicated that CO generated at 150 and 250 °C; the gas component was mostly oxygen(O_2), with small amount of carbon dioxide(CO_2), methane(CH_4) and hydrogen(H_2). At 50 °C, O_2 and a little CO_2 were observed and no CO was found. The carbon content of the coal samples increased slightly after deformation, and the oxygen content, H/C ratio, and O/C ratio decreased. The molecular structure of coal displayed different evolution characteristics at various temperatures. At 50 and 150 °C, the falling off of side chains, broken of ether bond and directional realignment of the aliphatic chains resulting in the formation of long chains were the main performance of coal molecular structure evolution. While at 250 °C, the side chains fell off and short chains formed. Furthermore, at both 150 and 250 °C, condensed degree of aromatic ring increased. Under the action of temperature and pressure, CO forms in two ways. The first is that ether bond breaks, oxygen and carbon atoms combine together and forms CO, or O_2 forming in the broken of ether–oxygen bond leads to the oxidation of free radicals and resulting in the formation of CO. And the second is that CO derives from falling off of C=O group.展开更多

In this study, in addition to the vertical load of a vehicle wheel, the horizontal load as well as its position with respect to the crack is also considered in the analyses, and the crack tip parameters including stress intensity factors(SIFs) and T-stress are then calculated. Moreover, influence of elastic modulus and thickness of the pavement layers on the crack tip parameters is studied. Results show that the horizontal and vertical loads along with their position with respect to the crack, elastic modulus and thickness of the road layers influence the crack tip parameters(KⅠ, KⅡ and T-stress) significantly. It was also found that for the cases that the vehicle wheel is positioned near the crack plane, only the shear deformation mode is observed at the crack tip;while, for the vehicle wheel positions far from the crack, only the opening mode is observed, and between these positions, both the opening and shear deformation modes(i.e., mixed mode Ⅰ/Ⅱ) are observed at the crack tip.展开更多

文摘The mechanical properties of limestone such as the stress-strain curve, the variable characteristics of peak strength and the modulus of elasticity of limestone were studied under the action of temperatures ranging from room temperature to 800 °C.Our results show that:1) the temperature has not clear effect on the mechanical properties of limestone from room temperature to 600 °C.However, the mechanical properties of limestone deteriorate rapidly when the temperature is above 600 °C.In this case, the peak stress and modulus of elasticity decrease rapidly. When the temperature reaches 800 °C, the entire process, showing the stress-strain curve is displayed indicating an obvious state of plastic-deformation;2) the failure mode of limestone shows the breakdown of tensile strength from room temperature to 600 °C, as well as the compress shearing damage over 600 °C;3) combining our test results with the concept of thermal damage, a thermal damage equation was derived.

文摘The Ti-35%Nb(mass fraction) foams were prepared by a powder metallurgy method, and the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the foams under monotonic and cyclic loading were investigated. The microstructure of the foams mainly consists of β phase, and the foams exhibit the homogenous pore distribution with the average pore size of 252 μm.The foams with 66% porosity show a typical stress-strain curve of the open-cell foams, and the plateau stress is about 56 MPa.The fatigue strength of the foam is 15.12 MPa at 107 cycles. The fractographic analysis of the foams reveals that the cracks nucleate within the struts and grow in a fatigue mechanism, resulting in the acceleration of the fatigue damage of the foams.

文摘In order to analyze the origin of carbon monoxide(CO) in coal seams, stress–strain experiments under temperature of 50, 150 and 250 °C were conducted using lignite from Kailuan mining area. And the second is that CO derives from falling off of C=O group.
文摘In this paper, a four-layered road structure containing a top-down crack is investigated by performing finite element analyses in ABAQUS. It was also found that for the cases that the vehicle wheel is positioned near the crack plane, only the shear deformation mode is observed at the crack tip;while, for the vehicle wheel positions far from the crack, only the opening mode is observed, and between these positions, both the opening and shear deformation modes(i.e., mixed mode Ⅰ/Ⅱ) are observed at the crack tip.
