Although ammonium dinitramide(ADN)has been targeted as a potential green monopropellant in future space vehicles,its application potential in Micro-electrical–Mechanical System(MEMS)thrusters or microthrusters has be...Although ammonium dinitramide(ADN)has been targeted as a potential green monopropellant in future space vehicles,its application potential in Micro-electrical–Mechanical System(MEMS)thrusters or microthrusters has been seldom reported in open literature.In this paper,electrolytic decomposition of Ammonium Dinitramide(ADN)-based liquid monopropellant FLP-103 was carried out in an open chamber and MEMS thrusters were fabricated from poly-dimethylsiloxane(PDMS)to characterize the power consumption.Two thrust measurement methods were employed to investigate the electrolytic decomposition of FLP-103 in MEMS microthrusters.The results show that the monopropellant can be successfully ignited at room temperature through 80 V,0.1 A(8 W)using copper wire as electrodes.In the current thruster design,low thrust was obtained at FLP-103 flowrate of 40μl·min^(-1)but it generated the highest specific impulse,Isp,among all the flowrates tested.The experiments successfully demonstrated the potential application of electrolytic decomposition of FLP-103 in MEMS thrusters.展开更多

S...A novel traffic sign recognition system is presented in this work. Firstly, the color segmentation and shape classifier based on signature feature of region are used to detect traffic signs in input video sequences. Secondly, traffic sign color-image is preprocessed with gray scaling, and normalized to 64×64 size. Then, image features could be obtained by four levels DT-CWT images. Thirdly, 2DICA and nearest neighbor classifier are united to recognize traffic signs. The whole recognition algorithm is implemented for classification of 50 categories of traffic signs and its recognition accuracy reaches 90%. Comparing image representation DT-CWT with the well-established image representation like template, Gabor, and 2DICA with feature selection techniques such as PCA, LPP, 2DPCA at the same time, the results show that combination method of DT-CWT and 2DICA is useful in traffic signs recognition. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm is robust, effective and accurate.展开更多

Verschuren, the use of language is just to make continuous choices in order to adapt to the needs of communications. This scientific new research angle can explain and guide translation of public signs. The argument of this paper is how to translate Chinese public signs into English from different context. This work considers those road networks in which there are multi-route choices for bifurcation-destination(or origin-destination) pairs, and designs a real-time variable message sign(VMS)-based routing control strateg...This work considers those road networks in which there are multi-route choices for bifurcation-destination(or origin-destination) pairs, and designs a real-time variable message sign(VMS)-based routing control strategy in the model predictive control(MPC) framework. The VMS route recommendation provided by the traffic management authority is directly considered as the control variable, and the routing control model is established, in which a multi-dimensional control vector is introduced to describe the influence of route recommendations on flow distribution. In the MPC framework, a system optimum routing strategy with the constraints regarding drivers' acceptability with recommended routes is designed, which can not only meet the traffic management authority's control requirement but also improve drivers' satisfaction with the route guidance system. The simulation carried out shows that the proposed routing control can effectively mitigate traffic congestion, reduces followers' time delay, and improves drivers' satisfaction with routing control in road networks.展开更多
Despite improvements in surgical techniques and adjuvant chemotherapy, the overall mortality rates in pan- creatic cancer have generally remained relatively un-changed and the 5-year survival rate is actually below 2%...Despite improvements in surgical techniques and adjuvant chemotherapy, the overall mortality rates in pan- creatic cancer have generally remained relatively un-changed and the 5-year survival rate is actually below 2%. This paper will address the importance of achieving an early diagnosis and identifying markers for prog- nosis and response to therapy such as genes, proteins, microP, NAs or epigenetic modifications. However, there are still major hurdles when translating investigational biomarkers into routine clinical practice. Furthermore, novel ways of secondary screening in high-risk individu- als, such as artificial neural networks and modern imaging, will be discussed. Drug resistance is ubiquitous in pancreatic cancer. Several mechanisms of drug resistance have already been revealed, including human equilibrative nucleoside transporter-1 status, multidrug resistance proteins, aberrant signaling pathways, mi-croRNAs, stromal influence, epithelial-mesenchymal transition-type cells and recently the presence of can- cer stem cells/cancer-initiating cells. These factors must be considered when developing more customized types of intervention ('personalized medicine'S. In the future, multifunctional nanoparticles that combine a specific targeting agent, an imaging probe, a cell-penetrating agent, a biocompatible polymer and an anti-cancer drug may become valuable for the management of pa- tients with pancreatic cancer.展开更多
