Cultivating critical thinking has been established as one of the goals of modern education. The application of critical thinking to English writing teaching enhances the effectiveness of analysis, enhances the logic of writing, and determines the individualization of writing. It can be applied to paragraph and chapter structures. According to the relevant theoretical basis and practical needs, this paper puts forward some strategies for cultivating critical thinking ability in English writing teaching. Specific strategies include cultivating critical thinking into innovative thinking, strengthening metacognitive strategy training, appropriately using brainstorming methods, examining critical chapters with critical thinking, choosing authentic writing and reading, and adopting diversified feedback modes combining content and form.展开更多
