This paper presents the isotropic optimization of a Stewart-type six-component force sensor. First,the static model of the sensor is built by the screw theory and the forward isotropy indexes and the inverse isotropy indexes are further presented. Second,a comprehensive evaluation function is established to evaluate the isotropic performance of the sensor. By compromising all the isotropy indexes and solving the extreme value of the function,the sensor optimization process is completed and an optimal solution of a set of sensor structure parameters is obtained. Finally,the design of the components and the assembly of the prototype are established by 3D modeling software Pro-E. The verification of the isotropic performance of the sensor is conducted by the finite element analysis software ANSYS. The results obtained by our research can provide useful reference to the isotropic performance evaluation and structure design of the stewart-type six-component force sensor. 展开更多

In order to analyze the influences of the different tool’s shape and surface conditions (such as different coated and material) and their interaction on the cutting temperature, a coupled thermo-mechanical finite element analysis (FEA) model of plane-strain orthogonal metal cutting process is constructed, and 16 simulation cases with 16 different types of tools, which cover 4 rake angles, -10°, 0°, 10°, 20°, and 4 friction coefficient values, 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 in the same cutting condition (cutting depth and cutting speed) have been performed. Finally the simulation results are analyzed according to the variance analysis method (VAM) of orthogonal array designs (OADs), the relationships between the rake angle, tool-workpiece interface’s friction coefficient and their interact effect to the maximum temperature value and the temperature field of the chip are obtained. This result has some instructive meaning to analyze the causes of the cutting temperature and to control the maximum temperature value and the overall temperature field in the metal cutting process. 展开更多

In order to meet the requirement of network synthesis optimization design for a micro component, a three-level information frame and functional module based on web was proposed. Firstly, the finite element method (FEM) was used to analyze the dynamic property of coupled-energy-domain of virtual prototype instances and to obtain some optimal information data. Secondly, the rough set theory (RST) and the genetic algorithm (GA) were used to work out the reduction of attributes and the acquisition of principle of optimality and to confirm key variable and restriction condition in the synthesis optimization design. Finally, the regression analysis (RA) and GA were used to establish the synthesis optimization design model and carry on the optimization design. A corresponding prototype system was also developed and the synthesis optimization design of a thermal actuated micro-pump was carded out as a demonstration in this paper. 展开更多

To analyze the stress state of steel orthotropic deck pavement and provide reference for the design of the overlay, the inner stress state and strain distribution of surfacing under the load of the deformation of the whole bridge structure and tyre load are analyzed by the finite element method of submodeling. Influence of surfacing modulus on the strain state of the overlay is analyzed for the purpose of the optimal design of the overlay structure. Analysis results show that the deformation of the whole bridge structure has no evident influence on the stress state of the overlay. The key factor of the overlay design is the transverse tensile strain in the overlay above the upper edge of web plate of rib. The stress state of the overlay is influenced evidently by the modulus of rigidity transform overlay. And the stress state of the overlay can be optimized and lowered by increasing the modulus and thickness of rigidity transform overlay, The fatigue test has been done to evaluate the fatigue performance and modulus of different deck pavement materials such as epoxy asphalt, SBS modified asphalt, rosphalt asphalt which can provide reference for deck pavement structure design. 展开更多

An integrated system FSOP2D,including modules for the shape optimal modeling,structural analysis,sensitivity analysis,optimal method library and post- processing,is developed.By selecting fictitious loads as the design variables that has a linear relationship with the grid point locations and using design sensitivity analysis of the domain method,it is easier to solve the velocity field.In the course of optimal iterations,mesh distortion is kept to a minimum,sensitivity derivatives of object function,stress constraints and displacement constraints are derived.Computation of sensitivity analysis is achieved in the system.Two engineering examples are used to prove the system's effectiveness,the optimal results can successfully be obtained by lesser number of iterations. 展开更多

The hydro-hammer sampler is a new type of sampler compared with traditional ones. An important part of this new offshore sampler is that the structure of the core cutter has a significant effect on penetration and core recovery. In our experiments, a commercial finite element code with a capability of simulating large-strain frictional contact between two or more solid bodies is used to simulate the core cutter-soil interaction. The effects of the cutting edge shape, the diameter and the edge angle on penetration are analyzed by non-liner transient dynamic analysis using a finite element method (FEM). Simulation results show that the cutter shape clearly has an effect on the penetration and core recovery. In addition, the penetration of the sampler increases with an increase in the inside diameter of the cutter, but decreases with an increase in the cutting angle. Based on these analyses, an optimum structure of the core cutter is designed and tested in the north margin of the Dalian gulf. Experiment results show that the penetration rate is about 16.5 m/h in silty clay and 15.4 m/h in cohesive clay, while the recovery is 68% and 83.3% resoectively. 展开更多

According to the analysis of constrained viscoelastic damping, the strategies of PVC have been worked out, and the correlation between modal calculations and modal experiments of the supporter has also been computed, and then, an experiment has been designed based on the calculation results. Based on finite-deformation elastoplastic theory, a scheme to solve the structural problems of the lap link by using ANSYS is proposed. The analysis results show that the maximum deformation exists at the loading spot of the lateral pin and the stiffness of this area needs to be enhanced; the maximum stresses occur at the two sides adjacent to the loading spot and the intensity around this region should be strengthened;the materials at the pole and pinhole with relatively low stress are redundant and removing excessive weight is possible. Based on the analysis, corresponding improvements are tentatively made, and the simulation results prove that, the stiffness and intensity of the new structure are improved. Furthermore, the reliability and validity of this design are verified by tensile tests of two types of structure. 展开更多
