Thermodynamics and kinetics of chlorination of Kenya natural rutile particles in a batch-type fluidized bed were studied at 1173-1273 K. Thermodynamic analysis of this system revealed that the equation of producing CO was dominant at high temperatures. Based on the gas-solid multi-phase reaction theory and a two-phase model for the fluidized bed, the mathematical description for the chlorination reaction of rutile was proposed. The reaction parameters and the average concentration of gaseous chlorine in the emulsion phase were estimated. The average concentration of emulsion phase in the range of fluidized bed was calculated as 0.3 mol/m^3. The results showed that the chlorination of natural rutile proceeded principally in the emulsion phase, and the reaction rate was mainly controlled by the surface reaction.展开更多

As a result, solid-liquid two-phase flow(hydrate and water) transforms into gas-solid-liquid three-phase flow(methane, hydrate and water) inside the pipeline. The Euler model and CFD-PBM model were used to simulate gas-solid-liquid three-phase flow. Numerical simulation results show that the gas and solid phase gradually accumulate to the center of the pipe. Flow velocity decreases from center to boundary of the pipe along the radial direction. Comparison of numerical simulation results of two models reveals that the flow state simulated by CFD-PBM model is more uniform than that simulated by Euler model, and the main behavior of the bubble is small bubbles coalescence to large one. Comparison of numerical simulation and experimental investigation shows that the values of flow velocity and gas fraction in CFD-PBM model agree with experimental data better than those in Euler model. The proposed PBM model provides a more accurate and effective way to estimate three-phase flow state of transporting gas hydrate within the submarine pipeline.展开更多

The effects of the charged particles in pneumatic pipeline on the measurement pipe potential are discussed in detail and the equivalent circuits of the potential measurement are presented. On this bases, the relationships between mass flowrate and the electrical potential are obtained for different time constants of the measurement circuit. A satisfactory model is presented based on the characteristics of gas solid two phase flow. The linearity of the model is verified by the experiment results. The transducer, which is coaxially connected with the transport pipeline, does not disturb the flow state and has the features of ruggedness and durability, it is especially suitable for industry process control.展开更多

By performing dimension analysis and using the form of gas-particle interaction source term for reference, a new semi-empirical turbulence enhancement model by the particle-wake effect is proposed. The turbulence model is then incorporated into second-order moment model for simulating gas-particle flows in a horizontal channel with different wall roughness and a sudden-expansion chamber. The results show that this model is with higher calculating accuracy than another two turbulence models in comparison with the experimental results.展开更多
