Utilising the input and transfer point mobility of a thin plate structure, a theoretical expression of the cylindrical shell’s bending vibration responsewas deduced and numerical simulations were done to simplify the theoretical expression within an acceptable error margin, greatly reducing the amount of computations. Furthermore, whole vibration response distributions of the cylindrical shell were analyzed. It was found thathe vibration energy propagates in helical form under mono-frequency excitation, while under bandwidth frequency excitation, it attenuates around in term of fluctuation.The axial attenuation rate of the vibration energy is larger than the circumferential attenuation rate.展开更多
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to determine if there were any differences in various aspects of physical activity such as energy expenditure, intensity, and type of activity between normal-weight and ov...Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to determine if there were any differences in various aspects of physical activity such as energy expenditure, intensity, and type of activity between normal-weight and overweight boys.Methods: Children aged 9—12 years were recruited from 2 elementary schools located in different urban districts in Republic of Korea. The present study included 45 Korean boys, of which 19 were normal-weight and 26 were overweight. Daily physical activity was estimated over the same 1-week study period under free-living conditions using the doubly labeled water(DLW) method and a tri-axial accelerometer. Resting metabolic rate(RMR) was measured using the Douglas bag method and open-circuit indirect calorimetry. We calculated the physical activity level(PAL) as the total energy expenditure(TEE)/RMR.Results: PAL was not significantly different between the groups. In the accelerometer data, time spent in locomotive moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA) was significantly lower in overweight boys than in normal-weight subjects, whereas other variables including non-locomotive activity did not differ between groups. In addition, among all participants, time spent in total locomotive activity was significantly associated with PAL. Time spent in locomotive MVPA was significantly associated with PAL.Conclusion: Overweight boys may be less physically active based on locomotive MVPA, which was positively related with PAL. Our findings suggest that the contribution of locomotive MVPA to the increase in PAL was relatively significant.展开更多

Based on remote sensing data, field investigation and trench measurement along the piedmont fault (Wujumengkou Dongfengcun) of Mt. Serteng, the vertical displacement rate has been found to be 0 88~1 83mm/a since the ...Based on remote sensing data, field investigation and trench measurement along the piedmont fault (Wujumengkou Dongfengcun) of Mt. Serteng, the vertical displacement rate has been found to be 0 88~1 83mm/a since the late period of late Pleistocene and 0 89mm/a since the middle period of Holocene. Using the progressive constraining method,five paleoearthquake events have been distinguished from two large trenches since Holocene. They occurred 9000±1300a B.P., 6500±500a B.P., 5770a B.P., 4200±300a B.P. and 3250±250a B.P., respectively. From the late period of late Pleistocene to the beginning of Holocene, some paleoearthquake events may have been missed due to a variety of reasons. All of the paleoearthquake events displayed clustering characteristics to a certain extent. The first cluster was occurred around 8900a B.P., the second cluster occurred between 5700~6500a B.P. and the last cluster was occurred in 3250~4200 a B.P. The interval between the first cluster and the second cluster was about 2400a while that between the second cluster and the third cluster was only 1570a. No earthquake events have cut the ground surface along this active fault segment since 3250a B.P. The lapse time is more than the recurrence interval between two paleoearthquake clusters. Therefore, there is a potential risk for a recurring earthquake along this active fault segment.展开更多

This theory states that people have a unique blend of capabilities and skills (intelligences). In the classroom context, it implies that students possess different kinds of minds and therefore learn, remember, perform, and understand in different ways. Based on the theory, Gardner challenged the previous practices that gauged intelligence using IQ test which focused more on the ability to use language and/or logic. According to him, the measurement of people's intelligence should not be limited to linguistic and logical-mathematical abilities only, but should also cover other abilities. In addition to language and logic, Gardner proposed six other intelligences, which in the past were known as aptitudes or interests, namely: Visual-Spatial Intelligence, Musical Intelligence, Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence, and Naturalist Intelligence. As an English teacher, we often have to deal with the fact that our classes consist of students who posses different intelligences. To help the students reach their maximum learning potential, teacher needs to respect students' uniqueness and accommodate the variety of intelligences. In this research, the ITOC concept was introduced to solve the scheduling problems of a piping factory, and an intelligent scheduling system was developed. The system, in which a product model, an operation model, a factory model, and a knowledge database of piping production were integrated, automated the planning process and production scheduling. Details of the above points were discussed. Moreover, an application of the system in a piping factory, which achieved a higher level of performance as measured by tardiness, lead time, and inventory, was demonstrated.展开更多

The aberrant coordi...Flux-rope/TCR events near the magnetotail lunar orbit (-67RE 〈 GSM X* 〈 -39RE) were studied using magnetic-field and plasma data measured by THEMIS B and C between January 2011 and March 2012. The aberrant coordinate GSM*, where the X* axis is rotated 4° relative to GSM-X, was used to count the occurrence rate. The number ratio of earthward to tailward events was about 3:5. Moreover, the event occurrence rate distribution showed a clear dawn-dusk asymmetry distribution, with dusk-side events accounting for 57.98%. A superposed epoch analysis of the flux-rope events showed that earthward events had a shorter duration in the leading than in the trailing part. Earthward events also displayed a lower temperature and a lower flow speed than tailward events. We studied the relationship between the event occurrence rate and geomagnetic activity level even further. The occurrence rate of tailward flux-rope/TCR events increases with increasing AE-index, whereas earthward events occur mainly in the relatively quiet period of geomagnetic activity (AE - 100-300 nT). Flux-rope/TCR events identi- fied within a 10 mm time frame were treated as belonging to a single reconnection event. By comparing the occurrence rates of earthward and tailward events along X*, we estimated the most likely location of the near-Earth reconnection site as X* = -36RE.展开更多
