Polyimide matrix composites interpenetrated with foamed copper were prepared via pressure impregnation and vacuum immersion to focus on their thermostability, mechanical and tribological behaviors as sliding electrica...Polyimide matrix composites interpenetrated with foamed copper were prepared via pressure impregnation and vacuum immersion to focus on their thermostability, mechanical and tribological behaviors as sliding electrical contact materials. The results show that the interpenetrating phase composites(IPC) are very heat-resistant and exhibit higher hardness as well as bending strength, when compared with homologous polyimide matrix composites without foamed copper. Sliding electrical contact property of the materials is also remarkably improved, from the point of contact voltage drops. Moreover, it is believed that fatigue wear is the main mechanism involved, along with slight abrasive wear and oxidation wear. The better abrasive resistance of the IPC under different testing conditions was detected, which was mainly attributed to the successful hybrid of foamed copper and polyimide.展开更多
Acid mine drainage(AMD) is one of the main reasons of slope instability in chemical mines with high sulfide. The pH values of the solution inside the mining pit decrease with the increasing of distance from ore body...Acid mine drainage(AMD) is one of the main reasons of slope instability in chemical mines with high sulfide. The pH values of the solution inside the mining pit decrease with the increasing of distance from ore body and vary from 1.2 to 4.6, according to the results of the water environmental investigation and the composition test of the slope sandstone in Xinqiao Pyrite Mine. Comparative experiments between original sandstone and AMD eroded sandstone samples show that after AMD erosion the uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus decrease by 30%-50% and 25%-45%, respectively, the cohesion and internal friction angle decrease obviously, and the Poisson ratio fluctuates between 0.20-0.29. The greater joints development, the higher residual stress after peak value, and the longer time to damage. Besides above, the reaction mechanism analysis of AMD eroded sandstone shows that the fillings in joints and fissures of sandstone are frequently decomposed and polyreacted, resulting in changes of interior molecule structure and fi'amework composition, and decreases of cohesion and angle of internal friction between rock structure interfaces.展开更多

The study was conducted using a completely mixed batc...The removal of cadmium, copper, and zinc from aqueous solution using activated carbon impregnated with 8-Hydroxyquinoline (oxine) was investigated in this study. The study was conducted using a completely mixed batch technique. Quantitative evaluation of the experimental results showed that the adsorption capacity of oxine impregnated activated carbon was higher than that of the virgin activated carbon for the three heavy metals. For oxine impregnated activated carbon, the Freundlieh distribution coefficient, kd , values were 23, 100, and 104 times larger than those of the virgin activated carbon for cadmium, copper, and zinc, respectively. Moreover, for oxine impregnated activated carbon, the kd values followed the sequence Cu 〉 Zn 〉 Cd which aggress well with the stability constants reported in the literature for the complexation of the three heavy metals with 8-Hydroxyquinoline.展开更多
