An indoor test rig for testing the unit performance was set up and the experimental results were given. The results showed that the unit could attain a maximum dew point depression of about 20℃ without any need of external mechanical power and chemicals. The pressure loss ratio, shock wave and the flow rate had great influence on the dehydration characteristics. From the systematic analysis of the factors that affect the dehydration efficiency of the unit, the suggestions for improving the unit are put forward.展开更多

Study of the removal of different pollutants (BOD5, COD, SS, TP, TN, NH3-N, etc.) in different temperature seasons and different units in this system indicated that effluent BOD5 and SS were constant to less than 11 mg/L and 14 mg/L throughout the experimental proc- esses; but that the removal efficiencies of pollutants such as TP, TN, NH3-N, COD varied greatly with season. The higher the temperature was, the higher was the observed removal in this system. Additionally, each unit of the system functioned differently in removing pollutants. BOD5 and SS were mainly removed in the first three units (hybrid facultative ponds, aeration ponds and aerated fish ponds), whereas nitrogen and phosphates were mainly removed in hydrophyte ponds and constructed reed wetlands. The multi-stage ponds-wetlands ecosystem exhibits good potential of removing different pollutants, and the effluent quality meet several standards for wastewater reuse.展开更多

In this paper, the overall capacity of vertical subsurface flow CWs in the removal of pollutants from municipal wastewater effluent and the effects of the depth of vegetated submerged bed on the removal efficiency were studied. The results showed that the COD, NH+4-N and TN could be removed effectively in the vertical subsurface flow CWs and the best efficiency was obtained from the 10 cm run. However, the TP removal was not effective in all vertical CWs. A shallow depth of vegetated submerged bed may avoid the risk of substrate plugging effectively, and may keep a stable operation of CWs in long term. Decreasing the depth of vegetated submerged bed could create a sufficient aerobic circumstance in which the concentration of DO (dissolved oxygen) in bed was super saturation.展开更多
