The entropy rate of the source and ε- entropy (rate-distortion function theory) are the information content to identify the characteristics of video images, and hence are essentially related with video image compression. They are fundamental theories of great significance to image compression, though impossible to be directly turned into a compression method. Based on the entropy theory and the image compression theory, by the application of the rate-distortion feature mathematical model and Lagrange multipliers to some theoretical problems in the H.264 standard, this paper presents a new the algorithm model of coding rate-distortion. This model is introduced into complete test on the capability of the test model of JM61e (JUT Test Model). The result shows that the speed of coding increases without significant reduction of the rate-distortion performance of the coder.展开更多

Recruitment advertisements as a genre of persuasion discourse require careful design, not on...This content analysis of print advertisements for jobs focuses on changes in choices of visual semiotic resources over time. Recruitment advertisements as a genre of persuasion discourse require careful design, not only in terms of writing but also in the selection of visual images, which can help attract candidates' attention and therefore enhance the effectiveness of the messages conveyed. It has also been argued that changes in visual-communication styles of recruitment advertisements could, to some extent, reflect how such advertisements were perceived as functioning from the employers' perspectives. In this paper, content analysis of job advertisements as printed in weekend newspapers in three different years (1993, 2003, and 2013) revealed that: (1) the presence of visual content in job advertisements fluctuated over the past two decades; and (2) to make recruitment advertisements more eye-catching, visual images were more likely to be placed in areas identified as salient in theoretical terms. The results shed new light on the roles played by the visual semiotic resources of job advertisements for the purpose of attracting human resources effectively.展开更多

The prominent capability of large continuous Field-of-View (FoV) coverage and fast survey speed makes PAF the promising feed for radio telescopes. In this paper, the effect of feed array of PAF on the gain fluctuations over FoV is analyzed on a sim- plified model of the Five-hundred-meter Spherical Aperture radio Telescope (FAST), including illu- mination pattern edge taper, element spacing, element arrangement and element amount. In this work, the effect of interfacial diffusion of a classic interfacial material PFN on device performance of polymer solar cells was studied quantitatively by doping PFN into active layer based on P3HT:PC61BM blend. The PCEs of devices with 550 ppm PFN de- crease to half compared to those of the control devices without PFN, which are mainly attributed to the decrease of short-circuit current (Jsc) and fill factor (FF). Advanced analyses of equivalent circuit, absorption spectra, and atomic force mi- croscopy indicates that the presence of PFN in the active layer increases the leakage current, decreases the aggregation of P3HT, and reduces the phase separation. This research reveals the physical mechanism of interfacial diffusion in device per- forrnance and provides a basis for further improving the performance and stability of PSCs.展开更多
