The modified stability equation is obtained based on the fiber orientation model and Hinch-Leal closure approximation. The primary instabilities and bicritical curves have been calculated numerically. The critical Reynolds number, wavenumber and wave speeds of fiber suspensions as functions of the aspect ratio, volume concentration of the fibers and the gap width of cylinders are obtained.展开更多

Particularly, special spectral degeneracies known as exceptional points(EPs) and coherent perfect absorber-laser(CPAL) points where zero and infinite large eigenvalues coexist are the most popular topics to be studied. To date, the discussions of EPs that serve as transition boundaries between broken PT-symmetry phase and exact PT-symmetry phase have been intensively presented. However, the theoretical analysis and experimental validations of CPAL points are inadequate. Different from EPs, CPAL points, as a special solution of broken PT-symmetry phase, may exhibit even further counterintuitive physical features, which may have significant implications to study non-Hermitian physics. Here, we review some recent advances of CPAL phenomena in different sub-disciplines of physics, including optics, electronics and electromagnetics, and acoustics.Additionally, we also provide an envision of future directions and applications of CPAL systems.展开更多

It is shown that this model with integer-spin can exhibit a flrst-order quantum phase transition between different disordered phases, and more intriguingly, possesses a hidden supersymmetry at the critical point. However, for half-integer spin we predict another flrst-order quantum phase transition between two different long-range-ordered phases with a vanishing energy gap, which is induced by the destructive topological quantum interference between the intanton and anti-instanton tunneling paths and accompanies spontaneously breaking of supersymmetry at the same critical point. We also show that, when the total spin-value varies from half-integer to integer this model can exhibit an abrupt variation of Berry phase from π to zero.展开更多

The dynamical evolution of the concurrence, which measures the degree of the entanglement between the two qubits, is plotted versus the scaled time gt. It is found that the two qubits can be entangled by the coherent state field even when they are initially prepared in the most mixed state, and for very weak field, the most mixed state can be; more easily entangled than some pure states. It is also found that the entanglement between the qubits sensitively depends on the relative difference of the atomic couplings and the mean photon number of the field.展开更多

For this motivation, the total drag of the ship is performed for several values of asymmetric outrigger configuration and hull separation, altering the Froude number in the range 0.3–0.9. Our results indicate that remarkable changes in resistance require notable changes in transverse distance values (hull separation) when wave interference may occur. In addition, there is no single configuration that consistently outperforms the other configurations across the entire speed range and the optimum interference factor -0.2 appears at a Froude number of 0.45 in S/L=0.33 with the outrigger outer position: asymmetric outboard for A3 configuration.展开更多

The principle, geo-metric schematic and limit state equation of this model are presented. Reliability evaluation for a kind of diesel engine crankshaft was made based on this theory, in which multi-axial loading fatigue criteria was employed. Because more important factors, i.e. stress asymmetric ratio and its variability, are considered, it theoretically can make more accurate evaluation for structural com-ponent reliability than the traditional interference model. Correspondingly, a Monte-Carlo Method simulation solution is also given. The computation suggests that this model can yield satisfactory reliability evaluation.展开更多
