Methods: PTFE vascular graft materials carried with pCDI-hVEGF121, pCDI or pEGFP were incubated in Tris-buffer solution and the values of optical density of 260 nm at different time were plotted, then the DNA controlled release curve was made. ECs derived from human umbilical vein were seeded on the pCDI-hVEGF121/pCDI/pEGFP-PTFE materials or tissue culture plates, ECs numbers were counted and VEGF protein concentrations at different time were measured by enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay method. Green fluorescent protein (GFP) expression in ECs on pEGFP-PTFE materials was examined with fluorescence mi- croscopy. Results: The controlled release curve showed that the gene released from PTFE materials was rapid within 8 h, then slowed down and that the gene released continuously even after 72 h. At 24, 72 and 120 h, ECs number and proliferation rate of pCDI-hVEGFI21-PTFE materials were higher than those ofpCDI or pEGFP-PTFE materials (P〈0.05). VEGF protein concentration of pCDI-hVEGF121-PTFE materials was higher than that of pC DI or pEGFP-PTFE materials at 6, 24, 72 and 120 h (P〈0.01). GFP expression in ECs on the pEGFP-PTFE materials could be detected by fluorescence microscopy. Conclusion: PTFE graft can be used as a carrier of VEGF gene plasmid, VEGF gene carried by PTFE can transfect ECs and promote ECs growth.展开更多

The results showed that adsorbents, which were grafted with tertiary amine and long spacing arms, had the best adsorption capacities and good blood compatibility. It is hopeful to be used as adsorbent in hemoperfusion for clinical clearance of endotoxin. The influence of original concentration of endotoxin on adsorption and the adsorption mechanism were also investigated.展开更多

The contents of Ti, H and C in these catalysts have been determined by elemental analysis and UV-vis spectrophotometry. The effect of the structure and dosage of the electron donor, the A1/Ti ratio and the polymerization temperature on the catalyst performance has been studied. Under optimized conditions, the catalyst with a highest activity yielded polypropylene with high isotacticity in the absence of external electron donors.展开更多

The authors therefore developed new weathering test condition based on the existing accelerated weathering test using a xenon arc lamp. Samples of LDPE were photo degraded using various accelerated weathering test conditions and outdoor exposure. The physical properties and chemical structures of the photo degraded samples were studied through a tensile test, infrared spectroscopy, and gel chromatography. The authors found that the molecular weight distribution curve of a sample photo degraded using a xenon lamp at a higher BPT (black panel temperature) (73 ~C) was more similar to that of an outdoor-exposed sample than that of a sample photo degraded at the standard BPT (63 ~C). It is considered that higher temperature accelerates radical recombination, consequently recreating molecular enlargement similar to the outdoor-exposed sample. Multiple regression analysis using newly introduced Mp (peak-top molecular weight) and Mw (weight-average molecular weight) as explanatory variables was conducted, which successfully enabled the authors to provide a simple explanation for the decrease in polymer tensile strength.展开更多
