This paper reports results of the authors’ studies on the virtual design method used in the development of low noise intake system of I.C. engine. The resulting high pass-by noise at level above the legislative target at full throttle when engine speed was around 5200 r/min necessitated a BEM-aided redesign task, following the typical process of design and development of an intake system. During the initial design, based on the acoustic theory and the requirements (1. The air flux of the redesigned should equal to or exceed the value of the original flux; 2. The filtering area must not be degraded), and considering the constraint of space in the engine compartment, total volume and rough internal dimensions were determined. During the detailed design, the exact internal dimensions of the air cleaner were determined, and an effective method was applied to improve the acoustic performance at low frequency. The predicted sound power of the intake system indicated that the objective of reducing the overall engine noise by minimizing intake system noise was achieved. 展开更多

In product concept design, not only designers with professional CAD skills, but also final customers take part in the design and evaluation of product shape styling. Because customers usually lack surface modelling background and are not familiar with concrete operations of commercial CAD systems, it is difficult for them to express their change intentions of product shape through professional CAD tools if they are not satisfied with the current shape design. This paper puts forward a method for creating, dragging and manipulating constraint and load represented in form of icon entity in interactive sculpting of product shape in virtual environment. The method supports customers manipulation of sculpting constraints or loads on sculpting shapes in virtual reality interaction to control the deformation of product shape. Constraints management based on icon entity is similar to spline lofting operation that is familiar to engineers, so users do not need to know surface details or have any professional knowledge of surface modelling, by only using their physical and engineering experience, they can manipulate the sculpting of product shape intuitively. 展开更多

Virtual dynamic optimization design can avoid the repeated process from de-sign to trial-manufacture and test.The designer can analyze and optimize the productstructures in virtual visualization environment.The design cycle is shortened and the costis reduced.The paper analyzed the peculiarity of virtual optimization design,and put for-wards the thought and flow to implement virtual optimization design.The example to opti-mize the internal grinder was studied via establishing precise finite element model,modi-fying the layout of Stiffened Plates and designing parameters of the worktable,and usingthe technology of modal frequency revision and the technology of multiple tuned damper.The result of optimization design compared the new grinder with the original grinder showsthat the entire machine's first orders natural frequency is enhanced by 17%,and the re-sponse displacement of the grinding-head has dropped by 28% under the first order natu-ral frequency and by 41% under second order natural frequency.Finally,the dynamic per-formance of the internal grinder was optimized. 展开更多

O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) is one of essential mammalian enzymes, which catalyze the transfer of N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-N-acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc) to hydroxyl groups of serines and threonines (Ser/Thr... O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) is one of essential mammalian enzymes, which catalyze the transfer of N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-N-acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc) to hydroxyl groups of serines and threonines (Ser/Thr) in proteins. Dysregulations of cellular O-GlcNAc have been implicated in diabetes, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer, which brings great interest in developing potent and specific small-molecular OGT inhibitors. In this work, we performed virtual screening on OGT catalytic site to identify potential inhibitors. 7134792 drug-like compounds from ZINC (a free database of commercially available compounds for virtual screening) and 4287550 compounds generated by FOG (fragment optimized growth program) were screened and the top 116 compounds ranked by docking score were analyzed. By comparing the screening results, we found FOG program can generate more compounds with better docking scores than ZINC. The top ZINC compounds ranked by docking score were grouped into two classes, which held the binding positions of UDP and GlcNAc of UDP- GlcNAc. Combined with individual fragments in binding pocket, de novo compounds were designed and proved to have better docking score. The screened and designed compounds may become a starting point for developing new drugs. 展开更多

With network developing and virtualization rising, more and more indoor environment (POIs) such as care, library, office, even bus and subway can provide plenty of bandwidth and computing resources. Meanwhile many people daily spending much time in them are still suffering from the mobile device with limited resources. This situation implies a novel local cloud computing paradigm in which mobile device can leverage nearby resources to facilitate task execution. In this paper, we implement a mobile local computing system based on indoor virtual cloud. This system mainly contains three key components: 1)As to application, we create a parser to generate the "method call and cost tree" and analyze it to identify resource- intensive methods. 2) As to mobile device, we design a self-learning execution controller to make offtoading decision at runtime. 3) As to cloud, we construct a social scheduling based application-isolation virtual cloud model. The evaluation results demonstrate that our system is effective and efficient by evaluating CPU- intensive calculation application, Memory- intensive image translation application and I/ O-intensive image downloading application. 展开更多

The article discusses the process of making the Virtual Reality System of the Humble Administrator’s Garden. Translating building data to the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) is by far unsatisfactory. This creates a challenge for computer designers to do optimization to meet requirements. Five different approaches to optimize models have been presented in this paper. The other methods are to optimize VRML and to reduce the file size. This is done by keeping polygon counts to a minimum and by applying such techniques as object culling and level-of- detail switching. 展开更多

After analysis and comparison, this article brings forward a method of virtual sewing based on draping knowledge. Two new concepts are introduced. One is the conversion of garment pattern pieces’ attributes and the other is the "clothes shell"—a middleware to simplify the mapping process. Meanwhile, the method implements the mapping process and completes virtual sewing by setting anchor points and lines on the virtual model. To save cost, more and more users choose provision resources at the granularity of virtual machines in cluster systems, especially data centres. Maintaining a consistent member view is the foundation of reliable cluster managements, and it also raises several challenge issues for large scale cluster systems deployed with virtual machines (which we call virtualized clusters). In this paper, we introduce our experience in design and implementation of scalable member view management on large-scale virtual clusters. Our research contributions include three-aspects : 1 ) we propose a scalable and reliable management infrastructure that combines a peer-to-peer structure and a hierarchy structure to maintain a consistent member view in virtual clusters; 2 ) we present a light-weighted group membership algorithm that can reach the consistent member view within a single round of message exchange; 3 ) we design and implement a scalable membership service that can provide virtual machines and maintain a consistent member view in virtual clusters. By using an advanced simulation development tool of Multigen Creator, the visual construction simulation program for the platform with bucket foundations was developed to set up the virtual reality system with interaction control and observation in every view angle based on the secondary development technology of Vega platform.
