METHODS:Serum samples were taken from 108 patients with cirrhosis under observation in the Hepatology Polyclinic of the Gastroenterology Clinic, and a control group made up of 50 healthy blood donors.IFAT and ELISA methods were used to investigate the IgG and IgM antibodies, which had developed from these sera. RESULTS:Toxoplasma IgG and IgN antibody positivity was found in 74 (68.5%) of the 108 cirrhotic patients and 24 (48%) of the 50 people in the control group. The difference between them was significant (P<0.05). CONCLUSION:In conclusion,it was found that the toxopiasma sero-prevalence in the cirrhotic patients in this study was higher.Cirrhotic patients are likely to form a toxoplasma risk group.More detailed studies are needed on this subject.展开更多

Fe3O4 superparamagnetic particles was synthesized with hydrothermal reaction of ferrous chloride (FeCl2) and ferric chloride (FeCl3). Such magnetic particles are then encapsulated in biocompatible PVA to form magnetic polymer microspheres sized from 2 to 15 nm with hydroxyl groups on its surface. Cibacron Blue 3GA, a dye-ligand, was covalently coupled with the polyvinyl alcohol through the nucleophilic reaction between the chloride of its triazine ring and the hydroxyl groups of PVA molecules under alkaline condition. The affinity adsorbent carried 21.1μmol Cibacron Blue 3GA per gram magnetic polymer microspheres was used to remove unconjugated and conjugated bilirubin from the solution which was composed of bilirubin or bilirubin and protein. After the adsorption, the adsorbent loaded with bilirubin was removed easily in the magnetic field.展开更多

Methods: Serum levels of interlukin-2 and its solublereceptor and interlukin-6 were measured by ELISA in 34patients with recurrent genital herpes. Results: Serum levels of IL-2 and IL-6 were significantlydecreased in patients compared to healthy controls (P<0.01),and the level of sIL-2R was significantly increased in patientswith recurrent genital herpes (P<0.01). There were nosignificant differences in all variables amongst patientsregarding relapse stage and remission stage (P>0.05). Conclusion: There was a cellular immune deficiency inpatients with recurrent genital herpes.展开更多

Methods: T cell subsets, plasma cytokine concentrations andviral loads from 42 HIV+ individuals, and 13 ARC/AIDSpatients, and 10 controls were analyzed by flow cytometry(FCM), quantitative ELISA and reversetranscription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR),respectively. Results: CD4 cell counts and plasma IL-2 in HIV/AIDSpatients were significantly less than in normal control subjects(P<0.001). The plasma concentrations sIL-2R, TNF-α, andNeopterin increased significantly with decreasing CD4 cellcounts. Plasma IL-2 among AIDS/ARC patients was also lessthan in HIV+ patients (P<0.01). CD4 cell counts, the ratio ofCD4 to CD8 and plasma IL-2 levels decreased significantlywith infection duration. CD4 cell counts declined an averageof 43/ml per year. In contrast, the concentration of plasmasIL-2R, sTNFR-I, and Neopterin increased an average of9.03pg/ml, 8.69pg/ml, 2.11ng/ml per yean respectively.Furthermore, a significant reverse linear correlation wasobserved between CD4 cell count, CD4/CD8 ratio, and CD3,CD4 and CD8 counts with plasma levels of sTNFR-I,Neopterin, and HIV RNA load. A positive linear correlationwas noted between plasma sIL-2R levels and changes ofplasma IL-6 level (P<0.001), IL-10(P<0.001), TNF-α(P<0.001),sTNFR-I (P<0.005), and Neopterin (P<0.002) and betweenIL-6 and TNF-α(P<0.001), Neopterin and IL-10 (P<0.05),sTNFR-I (P<0.001), plasma viral load and sTNFR-I (P<0.001),and Neopterin (P<0.002). Conclusion: These findingr suggest a close relationshipbetween IL-6 and TNF-aimmune activation, HIV replicationand disease progression in primary HIV infections and AIDSpatients. Declining CD4 cells and plasma IL-2, and increasingviral load, sIL-2R, TNF-α, sTNFR-I, and Neopterin might beconsidered as important predictors of the progression of HIVinfection to AIDS.展开更多

METHODS: We measured the endogenous plasma concentration of TPO in 40 patients with acquired aplastic anaemia (AA) and in 32 patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) by a sensitive Sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compared the results. RESULTS: Plasma TPO concentrations were significantly higher in AA patients (774 +/- 393 pg/ ml) in comparison with healthy control subjects (55 +/- 34 pg/ml, P 0.05). There was also no relationship between their plasma TPO levels and platelet counts. CONCLUSIONS: TPO levels may be regulated not only by platelets but also by megakaryocytes in AA and ITP, and measurement of TPO levels is useful for diagnosing thrombocytopenia and understanding the pathophysiology of thrombocytopenia.展开更多

METHODS: Fifty male rats were devided into a blank group (A), a sham operation group (B), a model group (C), a scraping group (D), and a drug group (E). The rats in the group B were treated with sham operation, and groups C, D and E were made into the LDH model by operation. After operation group C were treated with no interventions, D were given scraping and E were fed with azathioprine Then the IL-1 levels of different groups were detected by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay method. And the transplanted coccygeal vertebra discs were observed by pathological section. RESULTS: The IL-1 levels in the groups C, D, and E were significantly higher than those in the groups A and B (all P<0.01), which proved the operationwas successful. The IL-1 levels in the groups D and E at different periods had statistical significance (F= 414.158, P<0.01). The treatment periods and interventions have interation (F=46.613, P<0.01). Multiple comparison results showed that the IL-1 levels in the groups D and E was significantly lower than that in the group C (P<0.01), while the IL-1 levels between the groups D and E had no statistical significance (P>0.05). Moreover, pathological section indicated that immuno-inflammatory response was hardly found in coccygeal vertebra discs in the groups A and B, while local immuno-inflammatory responses of the groups D and E were much lighter than that of the group C. CONCLUSION: Scraping therapy could inhibit the immuno-inflammatory responses in the rats with LDH caused by transplantation of autologous nu cleus pulposus.展开更多
