Taking the test stopes during continuous mining induced roof caving of Tongkeng ore-body No.92 as example, the calculation flow of unloading analysis was established. According to the unloading region division method of the affected zone theory, and the deterioration laws of mechanics parameters of unloading rock mass, the continuous mining process in underground mine was analyzed by the software MIDAS/GTS, the mechanical response of roof rock mass unloading was studied, and the differences were analyzed with the conventional simulation. The result shows that the maximum tensile stress, subsidence displacement and equivalent plastic strain of roof rock mass are 1.5 MPa, 20 cm and 1.5% in the unloading analysis, while 1.0 MPa, 13 cm and 0.9% in the conventional analysis. The values of unloading analysis, which are also closer to the actual situation, are greater than those of conventional analysis; the maximum step in continuous mining is 48 m, which shows that the induced treatment of the roof should be carried out after 2 mining steps 展开更多

According to geological conditions of No. 3 and No. 4 coal seams (namely A3 and B4) of the Pan'er coal mine and the parameters of panels 11223, 11224, and 11124 with fully-mechanical coal mining, we built 2D similar material simulation and FLAC3D numerical simulation models to investigate the development of mining-induced stress and the extraction effect of pressure-relief gas with large height and upward mining. Based on a comprehensive analysis of experimental data and observations, we obtained the deformation and breakage characteristics of strata overlying the coal seam, the development patterns of the mining-induced stress and fracture, and the size of the stress-relief area. The stress-relief effect was investigated and analyzed in consideration with mining height and three thick hard strata. Because of the group of three hard thick strata located in the main roof and the residual stress of mined panel 11124, the deformation, breakage, mining-induced stress and fracture development, and the stress-relief coefficient were discontinuous and asymmetrical. The breakage angle of the overlying strata, and the compressive and expansive zones of coal deformation were mainly controlled by the number, thickness, and strength of the hard stratum. Compared with the value of breakage angle derived by the traditional empirical method, the experimental value was lower than the traditional results by 3°-4°below the hard thick strata group, and by 13°-19° above the hard thick strata group. The amount of gas extracted from floor drainage roadway of B4 over 17 months was variable and the amount of gas per month differed considerably, being much smaller when panel 11223 influenced the area of the three hard thick strata. Generally, the stress-relief zone of No. 4 coal seam was small under the influence of the hard thick strata located in the main roof, which played an important role in delaying the breakage time and increasing the breakage space. In this study we gained understanding of the stress-relief mechanism influenced by the hard thick roof. The research results and engineering practice show that the main roof of the multiple hard thick strata is a critical factor in the design of panel layout and roadways for integrated coal exploitation and gas extraction, provides a theoretical basis for safe and high-efficient mining of coal resources. 展开更多

Based on the classical static theory and static numerical simulation,the static method could not accurately reflect the stability of goaf where the rocks on the pillar and roof are influenced by Theological and blasting disturbance for a long time.According to the test from the site,an experimental study was made in Theological and dynamic disturbance.After that,on the basis of variable rock mechanics parameters from the experimental data,numerical simulation was used to analyze the vertical stress distribution of goaf,vertical displacement and plastic area of roof in the "deterioration" caused by Theological and blasting,which shows that the mechanics properties of the rock were greatly influenced by Theological,and dynamic disturbance.The results of the experimental study and numerical simulation show that the mechanics properties of rock are greatly influenced by Theological and dynamic disturbance.As a result,the stability of goaf is greatly reduced.Finally,by comparing golf monitoring results with the analysis of theoretical calculation,it was found that the results were approximately the same,which testifies the reliability of the method.This method provides a new way of studying the stability of goaf as well as laying a basic foundation for future safety management. 展开更多

Rock-lining wall was employed in roadway, which its roof is in the free situation. Under the action of virgin stress, the surrounding rock of roadway was in stability. While under the action of fixed abutment pressure arisen from protection pillar of roadway, which its two sides?seams were extracted, free strong roof of roadway was in the stability. But its two sides?rock-lining walls was fractured, partially broken into pieces, and its floor heave was ob-vious. The velocity of floor heave is 0.4~0.8 mm/d. The size of broken zone of sur-rounding rock of roadway increases doubly. An effective load coefficient of surrounding rock to was quoted illustrate these phenomena. The main reasons of roadway conver-gence are that, rock property of surrounding rock is inferior, protection pillar affects its stability, and supporting pattern employed is improper. At last, effective measures to control roadway convergence should be bolting and grouting lining, which mainly con-solidates surrounding rock of roadway. 展开更多

The decrease of indoor air temperature after the stopping of floor heating was compared with that of fan-coil heating system. The increase of indoor air temperature after the stopping of floor cooling system was analyzed. The results show that the floor heating system has good thermal storage performance, which can be used to a night-running model to obtain the energy-saving benefits efficient and economic running cost, and still can be used for “shifting peak load to off-peak” macroscopically. 展开更多

The plant secondary metabolites (PSM) are highly sought compounds for use as an alternative to conventionally used feed additives in animal production these days; Siamese neem leaf (Azadirachta indica A. Juss. var. siamenses Valeton) and Zanthoxylum pods (Zanthoxylum piperatum) are known to contain numerous such compounds.The objectives of this study were to determine effects of feeding Siamese neem leaf and Zanthoxylum pods as feed additives on dry matter intake (DMI), dry matter digestibility (DMD) and milk production and milk composition. Lactating Thai Holstein cows (n = 8) were arranged in two replicates of 4 x 4 Latin square designs, housed in individual stall, treatments consisted of Siamese neem 0.5 and 1.5 g kgl dry matter (DM), ZanthoxylumO. 1 and 0.5 g kg1 DM added to the total mixed ration (TMR). TMRand drinking water were provided ad lib. There were no significant differences (P 〉 0.05) in DMI and crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibility, milk production and composition among the treatments.However, significant difference (P 〈 0.05) was observed in dry matter (DM) and ether extract (EE) digestibility. Though statistically non-significant, Zanthoxylum at higher dose level tended to show low DMI (14.85 kg) in cows, while promotingmarginally higher milk (14.18 kg) production as compared with lower dose levelwhere DMI and milk production were 16.14 kg and 13.83 kg.This indicated that Zanthoxylum has a potential to improve feed digestion in dairy cows when used as additives. 展开更多

This paper describes design and calibration procedures of a new small-scale testing apparatus for evaluating soil-structure interaction. Two distinct modes of loadings, such as, direct shear and pullout loadings on flexible and rigid reinforcements are implemented by the multiple functionalities of the apparatus through the use of single loading frame, dividing mechanism, instrumentation and data acquisition systems. The design is similar to the conventional apparatus; however, it includes some key modifications to adapt additional features of reinforcements. For the pullout test, the top half of the pullout box is fixed with the bottom half of the pullout box, while for the direct shear test, the top half is allowed to slide horizontally on low friction roller bearings connected to the driving mechanism. Mechanical loadings through a steel plate are used to apply the normal load in the pullout and direct shear apparatus. A series of shear and pullout tests are performed to validate the functionality of the apparatus and to examine relationships between the reinforcements and its shear and pullout resistances. 展开更多

The answer is a key aspect of a longwall mining feasibility study when the consequences of inadequately rated shields are considered.This paper addresses this question based on the measured nature of the loading environment in which shields are required to operate,the various geological and geometrical controls of that environment and the various links between their load rating,a range of other relevant shield design factors and the loss event they are required to prevent a major roof collapse on the longwall face.The paper concludes that despite the tremendous advances that have been made in shield design and load rating over the past50 years,the same drivers that caused longwall miners of the past to seek improved roof control on the longwall face via the use of ever-higher rated shields,are still as relevant today.However at the current time,the limits of the largest available longwall shields have yet to be tested,therefore industry focus for the foreseeable future should possibly be in achieving the maximum level of roof control on the face via their optimum operational use rather than considering further shield rating increases and incurring the inevitable downsides in terms of capital cost and shield weight. 展开更多

Aiming at the difficulty in stress analysis for strata under pillars with actual bearing conditions, an approach was proposed to apply multi-sectional linear approximation to the characteristic curves of pillar loads, and stress of strata was calculated under pillars with linear load by calculation method for uniform load. This approach leads to a rapid analyzing method for strata stress under pillars with any form of loads. Through theoretical analysis, strata stress expressions for pillars under linear bearing conditions are obtained. In addition, two concepts, stress increase factor and stress factor, are proposed for the approximate analysis of strata stress by uniform load approximation method. It is also found that the stress increase factor of strata is related to the strata stress factor and the ratio of the minimum load on the pillar' two ends to the maximum one; and the distribution features of stress factors and the sizes of their influencing areas in strata influenced by overlying pillars are obtained. Combining with the gob pillar conditions of Jurassic coal seam in Tongxin Coal Mine, it is demonstrated that the results obtained by stress distribution analysis of the strata stress in non-influencing areas of pillars with linear bearing through uniform load approximation are in basic accordance with the results obtained for pillars under linear bearing condition. Therefore, it is feasible and accurate to calculate stress in non-influencing area in strata under pillars with linear bearing condition by uniform load calculation method. 展开更多

Longwall mining is one of the most acclaimed and widely used in underground method for coal extraction. The interaction of powered supports with the roof is the key issue in strata mechanics of longwall mining. Controlled caving of rock mass is a prerequisite pro thriving exploitation of coal deposits by longwall retreat with caving technique and support resistance has evolved as the most promising and effective scientific tool to predict various aspects related to strata mechanics of such workings. Load density,height of caving block, distance of fractured zone ahead of the face, overhang of goaf and mechanical strength of the debris above and below the support base have been found to influence the magnitude of load on supports. Designing powered support has been attempted at the different countries in different methods. This paper reviews the mechanism of roof caving and the conventional approaches of caving behaviour and support resistance requirement in the context of major strata control experiences gained worldwide. The theoretical explanation of the mechanism of roof caving is still continuing with consistently improved understanding through growing field experiences in the larger domain of geo-mining conditions and state-of-art strata mechanics analysis and monitoring techniques. 展开更多
