The microstructure and mechanical properties at different depths of squeeze-cast,solution-treated and aged Al−5.0Mg−3.0Zn−1.0Cu alloy were investigated.For squeeze-cast alloy,from casting surface to interior,the grain size ofα(Al)matrix and width of T-Mg32(AlZnCu)49 phase increase significantly,while the volume fraction of T phase decreases.The related mechanical properties including ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and elongation decrease from 243.7 MPa and 2.3%to 217.9 MPa and 1.4%,respectively.After solution treatment at 470℃ for 36 h,T phase is dissolved into matrix,and the grain size increases so that the UTS and elongation from surface to interior are respectively reduced from 387.8 MPa and 18.6%to 348.9 MPa and 13.9%.After further peak-aging at 120℃ for 24 h,numerous G.P.II zone andη′phase precipitate in matrix.Consequently,UTS values of the surface and interior increase to 449.5 and 421.4 MPa,while elongation values decrease to 12.5%and 8.1%,respectively. 展开更多

The aims of the present work are to evaluate the overaging behaviour of the investigated Cu-enriched alloy and to assess its mechanical behaviour,in terms of the tensile and fatigue strength,at room temperature and at 200℃,and to correlate the mechanical performance with its microstructure,in particular with the secondary dendrite arm spacing(SDAS).The mechanical tests carried out on the overaged alloy at 200℃ indicate that the addition of about 1.3 wt.%Cu to the A357 alloy enables to maintain ultimate tensile strength and yield strength values close to 210 and 200 MPa,respectively,and fatigue strength at about 100 MPa.Compared to the quaternary(Al−Si−Cu−Mg)alloy C355,the A357−Cu alloy has greater mechanical properties at room temperature and comparable mechanical behaviour in the overaged condition at 200℃.The microstructural analyses highlight that SDAS affects the mechanical behaviour of the peak-aged A357−Cu alloy at room temperature,while its influence is negligible on the tensile and fatigue properties of the overaged alloy at 200℃. 展开更多

The microstructures and corrosion behaviors of the Al−6.5Si−0.45Mg casting alloys with the addition of Sc were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,electrochemical measurement techniques and immersion corrosion tests and compared with those of Sr-modified alloy.The results show that Sc has evident refining and modifying effects on the primaryα(Al)and the eutectic Si phase of the alloy,and the effects can be enhanced with the increase of Sc content.When the Sc content is increased to 0.58 wt.%,its modifying effect on the eutectic Si is almost same as that of Sr.Sc can improve the corrosion resistance of the test alloy in NaCl solution when compared with Sr,but the excessively high Sc content cannot further increase the corrosion resistance of the alloy.The corrosion of the alloys mainly occurs in the eutectic region of the alloy,and mostly the eutecticα(Al)is dissolved.This confirms that Si phase is more noble thanα(Al)phase,and the galvanic couplings can be formed between the eutectic Si andα(Al)phases. 展开更多

The effect of T6I6 treatment on the dynamic mechanical and microstructure behaviour of Al-Si-Mg-Cu cast alloy was investigated using split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and highresolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM). Besides, the impact resistances of T6I6 and T6 motor shells of new energy vehicles made of Al-Si-Mg-Cu cast alloy were compared using a trolley crash test. The results indicated that the main strengthening-phases of the T6 peak-aged and T6I6 peak-aged alloy were GP zone and β″ precipitates. T6I6treatment can increase the density and size of β″ precipitates in peak-aged alloy and enhance both its tensile strength(σb)and elongation(δ). The dynamic toughness values of T6I6 samples are 50.34 MJ/m^(3) at 2000 s^(-1) and 177.34 MJ/m^(3) at 5000 s^(-1) which are 20% and 12% higher than those of T6 samples, respectively. Compared with a T6 shell, the overall deformation of T6I6 shell is more uniform during the crash test. At an impact momentum of 3.5×10;kg·m/s, the T6I6shell breaks down at 0.38 s which is 0.10 s later than the T6 shell. 展开更多

Effects of Mg content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of low Zn-containing Al−xMg−3Zn−1Cu cast alloys(x=3−5,wt.%)were investigated.As Mg content increased in the as-cast alloys,the grains were refined due to enhanced growth restriction,and the formation ofη-Mg(AlZnCu)_(2) and S-Al_(2)CuMg phases was inhibited while the formation of T-Mg_(32)(AlZnCu)_(49 )phase was promoted when Mg content exceeded 4 wt.%.The increase of Mg content encumbered the solution kinetics by increasing the size of eutectic phase but accelerated and enhanced the age-hardening through expediting precipitation kinetics and elevating the number density of the precipitates.As Mg content increased,the yield strength and tensile strength of the as-cast,solution-treated and peak-aged alloys were severally improved,while the elongation of the alloys decreased.The tensile strength and elongation of the peak-aged Al−5Mg−3Zn−1Cu alloy exceed 500 MPa and 5%,respectively.Precipitation strengthening implemented by T′precipitates is the predominant strengthening mechanism in the peak-aged alloys and is enhanced by increasing Mg content. 展开更多

通过半连续铸造的方法制备了Mg-xAl(x=9%,12%,15%)合金。采用XRD、OM和SEM分析研究了Al含量对铸态Mg-Al合金的组织结构变化的影响。同时,利用浸泡腐蚀实验和动电位电化学极化曲线研究了Mg-xAl合金的耐蚀行为。最后,通过SEM观察去除腐蚀... 通过半连续铸造的方法制备了Mg-xAl(x=9%,12%,15%)合金。采用XRD、OM和SEM分析研究了Al含量对铸态Mg-Al合金的组织结构变化的影响。同时,利用浸泡腐蚀实验和动电位电化学极化曲线研究了Mg-xAl合金的耐蚀行为。最后,通过SEM观察去除腐蚀产物后样品表面形貌,研究了其腐蚀机理。结果表明:3种合金材料的组织都是由α-Mg相和β-Mg_(17)Al_(12)相组成,而且β相含量随着Al含量的增多而增多。3种合金中随β相的增多,合金的耐腐蚀性能逐渐增强,即Mg-15%Al合金的耐腐蚀性能最好,Mg-9%Al的最差。铸态Mg-Al合金在3.5%NaCl溶液中浸泡72 h后,表面都可以形成氧化膜,随着Al含量增高,膜层的稳定性增强。 展开更多
