And free energy, microstructures, compositions and volume fractions of pre-precipitation phase and equilibrium phase were analyzed. The simulation results indicate that nonstoichiometric Llo pre-precipitation phase formed first, and then would gradually transform into L12 equilibrium phase. It is discovered that the phase transformation process was closely related to free energy and interatomic potentials. Additionally, it is revealed that free energy of Llo pre-precipitation phase was higher and interatomic potential was smaller than that of L12 equilibrium phase. Therefore, it is concluded that Llo phase was unstable, and phase transformation would occur to L12 which was more stable.展开更多

The micro-hardness measurements indicate that compared with un-deformed samples, the peak hardness is increased and the time to reach peak hardness is reduced with increasing pre-strain. Additionally, a double-peak hardness evolution behavior of cold-rolled (CR) samples was observed during aging. The results of TEM observation show that the number density of S′(Al2CuMg) phase is increased and the size is decreased in CR alloy with increase of pre-strain. The peak hardness and peak strength of the CR alloy are increased because of quantity increasing and refinement of S′ phase and high density dislocation.展开更多

The tensile strength and stress corrosion index of the alloy plate with 7% rolling plus 3% perpendicular stretching were 481 MPa and 0.0429, respectively, showing better mechanical property and stress corrosion cracking resistance than those with 4% rolling plus 3% parallel stretching or 7% rolling plus 3% parallel stretching, which is due to its finer and denser precipitates within the grains, discontinuous grain boundary precipitates, as well as more narrow precipitate-free zone width. Such microstructure is attributing to the denser and more homogeneously distributed dislocations which are produced by the pre-deformation.展开更多

The effects of dynamic cooling pre-aging treatment on mechanical properties and paint-bake hardening behavior of an Al-Mg-Si alloy sheet are proposed in this study. The scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, tensile test, Vickers hardness test, and differential scanning calorimetry were conducted for the purpose. It was found that the dynamic cooling pre-aging treatment at low temperature region led to the decreasing of cluster II, resulting in the deterioration of the ability of the paint-bake hardening. With the increase of the cooling pre-aging temperature, the increasing of cluster II effectively improved the stability against natural aging and the paint-bake hardening ability. The optimized dynamic cooling pre-aging temperature was ~150 ℃. In this condition, the hardness increase of the alloy sheet with pre-aging treatment is low during storage at room temperature. The high yield strength increment is obtained after paint-bake hardening.展开更多

In this process, the billet was preforged at solid solution temperature and then preaged, followed by warm forging at 200 ℃. The flow behavior of the preaged samples during compression and the mechanical properties of the formed samples were investigated by hot compression tests. The differences in the precipitated phases of the samples with different processing parameters were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The best comprehensive performance was obtained after preaging at 120 ℃ for 4 h and holding at 200 ℃ for 10 min, and the Vickers hardness was HV 128, which was higher than that of the traditional process. Precipitation strengthening and dislocation strengthening were improved when the samples were formed at 200 ℃. This forging process shows the advantages of short time consumption and low energy consumption, which can effectively improve the production efficiency while ensuring the strength after forming.展开更多
