This evaluation is done by Hysterosalpingography (HSG) in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. The diagnostic value and accuracy of hysterosalpingography varies in various centres and has not been assessed in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), hence this study. Methodology: A prospective cross sectional study done among 101 infertile women at the gynaecology clinic of the UPTH from December 2018 to July 2019. Socio-demographic data of women who met the eligibility criteria were collected. Their hysterosalpingographic and outpatient hysteroscopic findings were statistically analyzed using IBM SPSS for windows version 20.0. The validity and reliability statistics of hysterosalpingography for the identification of endometrial adhesions were determined and significance was reported at p-value < 0.05. The analyzed data was presented in tables and figure. Result: The respondents were all married, 66.3% of them were nulliparous, while 54.5% were above 35 years of age. Most, 93.1% of the studied group had at least secondary education and had duration of infertility of more than 2 years. There was a moderate strength of agreement in the diagnostic accuracy of HSG with hysteroscopy in the diagnosis of intrauterine adhesions;showing sensitivity and specificity of 59.6% and 90.9% respectively. The accuracy of HSG in the identification of intrauterine adhesions in this study was 73.3%. The agreement in the diagnostic accuracy of HSG using Hysteroscopy as a gold standard for intrauterine adhesions was therefore moderately significant (k = 0.482). Conclusion: HSG had an overall fair strength of agreement with office hysteroscopy in the identification of intrauterine adhesions. It is a specific but not a sensitive predictor of intrauterine adhesion.展开更多

Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) were stimulated with cytokines, TNF α (1-250 U/ml) or IL 1β (0.1-50 U/ml) for 24 h. HUVEC were also cultured with cytokines, TNF α (100 U/ml) or IL 1β (10 U/ml), for 4-72 h, cell surface expression of adhesion molecules (ICAM 1 and VCAM 1) were detected and quantitated by immunocytochemical methods and computerized imaging analysis technique. Adhesion molecules expression were up regulated by TNF α, IL 1β in a concentration and time dependent manner. Some significant differences were observed between the effects of cytokines on the ICAM 1 and on VCAM 1 expression. Cytokines might directly induce the expression of ICAM 1 and VCAM 1 in vascular endothelial cells. Our observations indicate differential functions of the two adhesion molecules during the evolution of inflammatory responses in stroke.展开更多

文摘We improved the adhesion between silicon based insulating materials and epoxy resin composites by adding the adhesion promoter cycloborosiloxane(BSi,cyclo-1,3,3,5,7,7-hexaphenyl-1,5-diboro-3,7-disiloxane).The experimental results show that the addition of BSi in the silicone rubber(SR)system significantly increases the tensile shear strength between BSi and epoxy resin(EP),reaching 309%of the original value. On this basis, the mechanism of BSi to enhance the adhesion effect was discussed. The electron deficient B in BSi attracted the electron rich N and O in EP to enhance the chemical interaction, combined with the interfacial migration behavior in the curing process,to improve the adhesion strength. This study provides the design and synthesis ideas of adhesive aids, and a reference for further exploring the interface mechanism of epoxy resin matrix composites.

文摘The steel lining of huge facilities is a significant structure, which experiences extreme environments and needs to be inspected periodically after manufacture. However, due to the complexity(crisscross welds, curved surface, etc.)of their inside environments, high demands for stable adhesion and curvature adaptability are put forward. This paper presents a novel wheeled magnetic adhesion robot with passive suspension applied in nuclear power containment called NuBot,and mainly focuses on the following aspects:(1)proposing the wheeled locomotion suspension to adapt the robot to the uneven surface;(2)implementing the parameter optimization of NuBot.A comprehensive optimization model is established, and global optimal dimensions are properly chosen from performance atlases;(3)determining the normalization factor and actual dimensional parameters by constraints of the steel lining environment;(4)structure design of the overall robot and the magnetic wheels are completed.Experiments show that the robot can achieve precise locomotion on both strong and weak magnetic walls with various inclination angles, and can stably cross the 5 mm weld seam.Besides, its maximum payload capacity reaches 3.6 kg.Results show that the NuBot designed by the proposed systematic method has good comprehensive capabilities of surface-adaptability,adhesion stability, and payload.Besides, the robot can be applied in more ferromagnetic environments and the design method offers guidance for similar wheeled robots with passive suspension.

文摘Ice nucleation and accretion on structural surfaces are sources of major safety and operational concerns in many industries including aviation and renewable energy.Common methods for tackling these are active ones such as heating, ultrasound, and chemicals or passive ones such as surface coatings. In this study,we explored the ice adhesion properties of slippery coated substrates by measuring the shear forces required to remove a glaze ice block on the coated substrates.Among the studied nanostructured and nanoscale surfaces[i.e.,a superhydrophobic coating,a fluoropolymer coating, and a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)chain coating],the slippery omniphobic covalently attached liquid(SOCAL)surface with its flexible polymer brushes and liquid-like structure significantly reduced the ice adhesion on both glass and silicon surfaces.Further studies of the SOCAL coating on roughened substrates also demonstrated its low ice adhesion. The reduction in ice adhesion is attributed to the flexible nature of the brush-like structures of PDMS chains, allowing ice to detach easily.
文摘Micro-sized silicon anodes have shown much promise in large-scale industrial production of high-energy lithium batteries. However, large volume change(>300%)of silicon anodes causes severe particle pulverization and the formation of unstable solid electrolyte interphases during cycling, leading to rapid capacity decay and short cycle life of lithium-ion batteries. When addressing such issues, binder plays key roles in obtaining good structural integrity of silicon anodes.Herein,we report a biopolymer composite binder composed of rigid poly(acrylic acid)(PAA)and flexible silk fibroin(SF)tailored for micro-sized silicon anodes. The PAA/SF binder shows robust gradient binding energy via chemical interactions between carboxyl and amide groups, which can effectively accommodate large volume change of silicon. This PAA/SF binder also shows much stronger adhesion force and improved binding towards high-surface/defective carbon additives, resulting in better electrochemical stability and higher coulombic efficiency, than conventional PAA binder. As such,micro-sized silicon/carbon anodes fabricated with novel PAA/SF binder exhibit much better cyclability(up to 500 cycles at 0.5 C)and enhanced rate capability compared with conventional PAA-based anodes. This work provides new insights into the design of functional binders for high-capacity electrodes suffering from large volume change for the development of nextgeneration lithium batteries.

文摘Interparticle adhesion force has a controlling effect on the physical and mechanical properties of planetary regolith and rocks. The current research on the adhesion force of planetary regolith and rock particles has been primarily based on the assumption of smooth spherical particles to calculate the intergranular adhesion force;this approach lacks consideration for the adhesion force between irregular shaped particles. In our study,an innovative approach was established to directly measure the adhesion force between the arbitrary irregular shaped particles;the probe was modified using simulated lunar soil particles that were a typical representation of planetary regolith. The experimental results showed that for irregular shaped mineral particles, the particle size and mineral composition had no significant influence on the interparticle adhesion force;however, the complex morphology of the contact surface predominantly controlled the adhesion force. As the contact surface roughness increased, the adhesion force gradually decreased, and the rate of decrease gradually slowed;these results were consistent with the change trend predicted via the theoretical models of quantum electrodynamics. Moreover,a theoretical model to predict the adhesion force between the irregular shaped particles was constructed based on Rabinovich’s theory, and the prediction results were correlated with the experimental measurements.

文摘Flexible perovskite solar cells have attracted widespread attention due to their unique advantages in lightweight, high flexibility, and easy deformation, which are suitable for portable electronics. However, the inverted(p-i-n)structured devices suffer from poor stability largely due to the low adhesion at the brittle interface(the hole transport layer/perovskite).Herein,zeolitic imidazolate framework-67(ZIF-67)is applied to inverted structured cells to optimize the interface and prolong the device lifetime. As a result, the flexible devices based on ZIF-67 obtain the champion power conversion efficiency of 20.16%.Over 1000 h under continuous light irradiation, the device retains 96%and 80%of its original efficiency without and with bias, respectively.Notably, devices show mechanical endurance with over 78%efficiency retention after 10,000 cycles of consecutive bending cycles(R=6 mm).The introduction of ZIF-67 suppresses the cracking in device bending, which results in improved environmental stability and bending durability.
文摘Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)fiber is a new kind of high-performance fiber.Due to its excellent physical and chemical characteristics,it is widely used in various fields. However, the surface UHMWPE fiber is smooth and demonstrates no-polar groups. The weak interfacial adhesion between fiber and resin seri-ously restricts the applications of UHMWPE fiber. Therefore, the surface modification treatments of UHMWPE fiber are used to improve the interfacial adhesion strength. The modified method by adding nanomaterials elu-cidates the easy fabrication, advanced equipment and proper technology. Thus, the progress of UHMWPE nanocomposite fibers prepared via adding various nanofillers are reviewed.Meanwhile, the effects of other various methods on surface modification are also reviewed. This work advances the various design strategies about nano technologies on improving interfacial adhesion performance via treatment methodologies.
文摘Although some progress in plasma modification of the polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) surface has been made recently, its adhesion strength still needs to be further improved. In this work, the surface of a PTFE sample was treated with a two-step in-situ method.Firstly, the PTFE surface was treated with capacitively coupled Ar plasma to improve its mechanical interlocking performance;then,Ar+NH_(3)+CH_(4) plasma was used to deposit an a-CNx:H cross-linking layer on the PTFE surface to improve the molecular bonding ability. After treatment,a high specific surface area of 2.20 and a low F/C ratio of 0.32 were achieved on the PTFE surface. Its surface free energy was increased significantly and its maximum adhesion strength reached77.1 N·10 mm^(-1),which is 56% higher than that of the single-step Ar plasma-treated sample and32% higher than that of the single-step Ar+CH_(4)+NH_(3) plasma-treated sample.
文摘Background: Examination of the endometrial cavity is crucial in the management of infertile women. It is a specific but not a sensitive predictor of intrauterine adhesion.
文摘Regulation of the adhesion molecules expression by cytokine in vascular endothelial cells was investigated. Our observations indicate differential functions of the two adhesion molecules during the evolution of inflammatory responses in stroke.

文摘BACKGROUND Hepatic stellate cell(HSC)hyperactivation is a central link in liver fibrosis development.HSCs perform aerobic glycolysis to provide energy for their activation.Focal adhesion kinase(FAK)promotes aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells or fibroblasts, while FAK-related non-kinase(FRNK)inhibits FAK phosphorylation and biological functions.AIM To elucidate the effect of FRNK on liver fibrosis at the level of aerobic glycolytic metabolism in HSCs.METHODS Mouse liver fibrosis models were established by administering CCl4,and the effect of FRNK on the degree of liver fibrosis in the model was evaluated.Transforming growth factor-β1 was used to activate LX-2 cells.Tyrosine phosphorylation at position 397(pY397-FAK)was detected to identify activated FAK,and the expression of the glycolysis-related proteins monocarboxylate transporter 1(MCT-1)and enolase1(ENO1)was assessed.Bioinformatics analysis was performed to predict putative binding sites for c-myc in the ENO1 promoter region, which were validated with chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP)and dual luciferase reporter assays.RESULTS The pY397-FAK level was increased in human fibrotic liver tissue.FRNK knockout promoted liver fibrosis in mouse models. It also increased the activation, migration, proliferation and aerobic glycolysis of primary hepatic stellate cells(pHSCs)but inhibited pHSC apoptosis.Nevertheless, opposite trends for these phenomena were observed after exogenous FRNK treatment in LX-2 cells.Mechanistically, the FAK/Ras/c-myc/ENO1 pathway promoted aerobic glycolysis, which was inhibited by exogenous FRNK.CONCLUSION FRNK inhibits aerobic glycolysis in HSCs by inhibiting the FAK/Ras/c-myc/ENO1 pathway, thereby improving liver fibrosis.FRNK might be a potential target for liver fibrosis treatment.

文摘Hydrogels with multifunctionalities, including sufficient bonding strength, injectability and self-healing capacity,responsive-adhesive ability,fault-tolerant and repeated tissue adhesion, are urgently demanded for invasive wound closure and wound healing.Motivated by the adhesive mechanism of mussel and brown algae, bioinspired dynamic bonds cross-linked multifunctional hydrogel adhesive is designed based on sodium alginate(SA),gelatin(GT)and protocatechualdehyde, with ferric ions added, for sutureless post-wound-closure.The dynamic hydrogel cross-linked through Schiff base bond,catechol-Fe coordinate bond and the strong interaction between GT with temperature-dependent phase transition and SA,endows the resulting hydrogel with sufficient mechanical and adhesive strength for efficient wound closure, injectability and self-healing capacity, and repeated closure of reopened wounds. Moreover, the temperature-dependent adhesive properties endowed mispositioning hydrogel to be removed/repositioned,which is conducive for the fault-tolerant adhesion of the hydrogel adhesives during surgery.Besides, the hydrogels present good biocompatibility,near-infrared-assisted photothermal antibacterial activity, antioxidation and repeated thermo-responsive reversible adhesion and good hemostatic effect. The in vivo incision closure evaluation demonstrated their capability to promote the post-wound-closure and wound healing of the incisions, indicating that the developed reversible adhesive hydrogel dressing could serve as versatile tissue sealant.

文摘The adhesion between warp sizing and fiber was systematically studied by using the roving method.Cotton roving and polyester roving were sized with various concentrations between 0.01%and 2.50%of acid-thinned starch, polyvinyl alcohol and water-soluble polyester sizing, respectively, and tensile property of the sized roving was tested accordingly. The break force of the sized roving was considered as the adhesion force of the sizing to the fiber in the roving method. The experimental results show that the effects of sizing film strength and fiber strength on the adhesive force can be weakened when the concentration 0.5%of size paste is used, instead of 1%in the roving method. The size morphology in the sized roving and on the surface was observed through scanning electron microscopy,in the form of penetration and coverage of the sizing in or on the roving. On the other hand, the Young-Dupréequation was used to calculate the adhesion work. The advantages and disadvantages of roving method and the adhesion work method were compared. The adhesion obtained by both two methods reflects the rule of chemical similarity between warp sizing and fiber.

文摘INTRODUCTION Since the late 1980s,studies on the expression ofintercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1)inpatients with malignancies have demonstrated thatICAM-1 may strongly express in two forms in suchdiseases:membranous one on the surface of tumorcells(membrane-bound ICAM-1)and soluble one incirculation(soluble ICAM-1,sICAM-1).
