Growth and Antimony Bioconcentration Characteristics of Wild Ramie(Boehmeria nivea)under Sb Stress in Different Valence States

[Objectives] To explore the effects of antimony(Sb) in different valence states on the growth and Sb bioconcentration and transfer of wild ramie(Boehmeria nivea). [Methods] A pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of Sb(Ⅲ) and Sb(Ⅴ) stress on plant height, biomass, leaf SPAD value, Sb contents in various organs, Sb bioconcentration and transfer factors, and other indexes. [Results] Both kinds of Sb treatments showed a trend of "first increasing and then decreasing" in plant height as Sb concentration increased. The plant heights in Sb(Ⅲ) treatments with a concentration lower than 1 000 mg/kg and Sb(Ⅴ) treatments with concentrations lower than 4 000 mg/kg were significantly higher than that of the control check(CK);and the Sb(Ⅲ) treatment of the high concentration(4 000 mg/kg) resulted in a significant decrease in plant height, while the 8 000 mg/kg Sb(Ⅴ) treatment still showed an increase in plant height, indicating that the toxicity of Sb(Ⅴ) to wild ramie was significantly lower than that of Sb(Ⅲ). The Sb(Ⅲ) treatments with a concentration lower than 2 000 mg/kg had little effect on the dry weight of the aboveground part, while the treatment with a higher concentration showed a significant decrease;and the dry weights in various concentrations of Sb(Ⅴ) treatments showed no significant differences, but they were significantly higher than the CK and corresponding concentration of Sb(Ⅲ) treatment. Both types of Sb stress could promote the increase of SPAD value in wild ramie leaves, and the performance was significantly higher than the CK. As the concentration of Sb treatment increased, the Sb content in both the aboveground and underground parts showed a significant increase;and the comparison of Sb content under corresponding concentrations of the two types of Sb treatments showed that in the aboveground part, Sb(Ⅲ) was higher than Sb(Ⅴ), while in the underground part, the opposite was true. The bioconcentration factor(BF) of Sb decreased with the increase of Sb treatment concentration overall, and the value of Sb(Ⅴ) was smaller than that of Sb(Ⅲ), but both kinds of Sb stress were significantly smaller than the CK. The transfer factor(TF) of Sb in wild ramie showed a trend of "increasing first and then decreasing" with the concentration of Sb treatment, and various treatments of Sb(Ⅲ) were higher than the CK, with significant differences, while among various treatments of Sb(Ⅴ), except treatment B3, the reduction of which was not significant, other Sb(Ⅴ) treatments showed significant decreases. Comparing the two types of Sb treatments, the BF and TF values of Sb in wild ramie under Sb(Ⅲ) treatments were higher than those under Sb(Ⅴ) treatments, and the TF reached a significant level, indicating that the Sb transport ability of wild ramie under Sb(Ⅲ) treatments was stronger. [Conclusions] This study provides a theoretical basis for the mining of wild ramie Sb restoration genes and the application of large-scale cultivation in ecological restoration. 展开更多

Antimony trisulfide(Sb_(2)S_(3)) solar cells suffer from large open circuit voltage deficits due to their intrinsic defects which limit the power conversion efficiency.Thus,it is important to elucidate these defects’ origin and defects at the interface.Here,we discover that sulfide radical defects have a significant impact on the performance of Sb_(2)S_(3)solar cells.Moreover,it has been illustrated that these defects at the CdS/Sb_(2)S_(3)interface can be reduced by optimizing the deposition process.A trap distribution model is used to quantify the defect density at the CdS/Sb_(2)S_(3)interface.It shows that the interface defects can be reduced by24% by improving the deposition process.This work reveals the importance of interface defects and guides the future optimization of Sb_(2)S_(3)solar cells. 展开更多

Effect of thickness of antimony selenide film on its photoelectric properties and microstructure

Antimony selenide(Sb2Se3) films are widely used in phase change memory and solar cells due to their stable switching effect and excellent photovoltaic properties. These properties of the films are affected by the film thickness. A method combining the advantages of Levenberg–Marquardt method and spectral fitting method(LM–SFM) is presented to study the dependence of refractive index(RI), absorption coefficient, optical band gap, Wemple–Di Domenico parameters, dielectric constant and optical electronegativity of the Sb2Se3films on their thickness. The results show that the RI and absorption coefficient of the Sb2Se3films increase with the increase of film thickness, while the optical band gap decreases with the increase of film thickness. Finally, the reasons why the optical and electrical properties of the film change with its thickness are explained by x-ray diffractometer(XRD), energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer(EDS), Mott–Davis state density model and Raman microstructure analysis. 展开更多

Gaudich.) and the tolerance response in ramie. [Methods] A pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of Sb stress on root growth and Sb accumulation and transport of the root system of cultivated ramie Zhongzhu No.1, as well as on the physiological characteristics of ramie leaves. [Results] The plant height and root dry weight and volume of Zhongzhu No.1 showed an effect of "promoting at low concentrations and inhibiting at high concentrations" with the increase of Sb concentration, and decreased significantly at the concentration of 4 000 mg/kg, but no obvious toxic growth symptoms were observed. The content of Sb in roots(289.7-508.6 mg/kg) and the root-shoot transfer factor(0.09-0.57) of Zhongzhu No.1 increased with the increase of soil Sb concentration, but the change of Sb bioconcentration factor in roots was opposite, indicating that high concentrations of Sb in soil could promote the absorption of Sb in roots and the transport of Sb to the aboveground part, but the Sb enrichment capacity of roots was relatively reduced with the increase of soil Sb. Sb stress had a certain impact on the physiological characteristics of ramie leaves. With the increase of Sb treatment concentration, MDA, POD and SOD showed a change trend of "first increasing and then decreasing", while CAT gradually increased, indicating that Sb stress caused changes in the physiological characteristics of ramie leaves, thereby affecting plant growth and development. [Conclusions] This study provides a theoretical basis for ecological restoration of ramie in mining areas. 展开更多

For the leaching solution containing indium and antimony and iron ions, indium was separated by extracting with HDEHP kerosine solution, washing antimony and iron ions with oxalic acid solution and stripping indium with a dilute solution of hydrochloric acid. InCl 3 solution with purity above 90% is obtained. Indium can be enriched through a circulation of stripping with a dilute HCl solution. The concentration of InCl 3 solution is about 25~30 g/L. 展开更多

Cooling rate and inoculation practice can greatly affect the graphite morphology of ductile irons.In the present research,the effects of the cooling rate and antimony addition on the graphite morphology and mechanical properties of ductile irons have been studied.Three ductile iron castings were prepared through solidification under cooling conditions S(slow),M(medium)and F(fast).The cooling rates around the equilibrium eutectic temperature (1,150℃)for these cooling conditions(S,M and F)were set at 0.21℃·min -1 ,0.32℃·min -1 and 0.37℃·min -1 , respectively.In addition,four ductile iron castings were prepared by adding 0.01%,0.02%,0.03%and 0.04%(by weight)antimony,respectively under the slow cooling condition.The results show that the nodularity index,tensile strength and hardness of the ductile iron castings without antimony addition are all improved with the increase of cooling rate,while the ductile iron casting solidified under the medium cooling rate possesses the largest number of graphite nodules.Furthermore,for the four antimony containing castings,the graphite morphology and tensile strength are also improved by the antimony additions,and the effect of antimony addition is intensified when the addition increases from 0.01%to 0.03%.Moreover,the rare earth elements(REE)/antimony ratio of 2 appears to be the most effective for fine nodular graphite formation in ductile 展开更多

In Xikuangshan antimony ore field, the western fracture zone is a composite of major fault, F 75 , and its secondary faults, such as F 71 , F 72 and F 3 etc.. On plane, the fracture zone scatters from southwest to northeast, and concentrates from upper to deeper level on profile. All ore bodies exist in the carbonate of footwall of the major fault or that of the footwall of its secondary faults. From 480 m and 320 m to 120 m level, the fractal dimensional number of the fault system decreases from 1 482 2 and 1 448 6 to 1 339 2, which indicates the form of fracture zone becoming more simple at deeper level. And in five sub ranges, the Ⅲ and Ⅳ sub ranges are the known area, and the Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅴ sub ranges are unknown. The fractal studies of the western fracture zone in these sub ranges show that the fractal dimensional numbers of the Ⅰ and Ⅱ, being 1 201 5 and 1 278 0, respectively, are smaller than that of the Ⅲ and Ⅳ, being 1 475 9 and 1 576 9, respectively; and that of the Ⅴ, being 1 571 2, keeps with that of the Ⅲ, Ⅳ sub ranges. So mineralization is not well in Ⅰ and Ⅱ sub ranges, and Ⅴ sub range is the best to benefit mineralization. 展开更多

Mcrostructurul observations revealed that the addition of antimony modified morphology of the α(Mg17Al12) phase and caused the formation of some rod-shaped precipitates Mg3b2 at grain boundaries. Objective Antimony(Sb)has recently been identified as a novel nerve poison,although the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying its neurotoxicity remain unclear.This study aimed to assess the effects of the nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)signaling pathway on antimony-induced astrocyte activation.Methods Protein expression levels were detected by Western blotting.Immunofluorescence,cytoplasmic and nuclear fractions separation were used to assess the distribution of p65.The expression of protein in brain tissue sections was detected by immunohistochemistry.The levels of mRNAs were detected by Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)and reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results Antimony exposure triggered astrocyte proliferation and increased the expression of two critical protein markers of reactive astrogliosis,inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP),indicating that antimony induced astrocyte activation in vivo and in vitro.Antimony exposure consistently upregulated the expression of inflammatory factors.Moreover,it induced the NF-κB signaling,indicated by increased p65 phosphorylation and translocation to the nucleus.NF-κB inhibition effectively attenuated antimony-induced astrocyte activation.Furthermore,antimony phosphorylated TGF-β-activated kinase 1(TAK1),while TAK1 inhibition alleviated antimonyinduced p65 phosphorylation and subsequent astrocyte activation.Conclusion Antimony activated astrocytes by activating the NF-κB signaling pathway. 展开更多

[Objective]The content of total antimony(Sb) in fresh fruit was investigated and its pollution was evaluated,to provide the basic data for diet exposure evaluation.[Method]The content of total Sb in 194 samples was detected by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry(HG-AFS),and the Sb pollution in several fruits was evaluated by the method of single factor pollution index. [Result]The mean of total Sb was 0.005 6 mg / kg,and the median was 0.003 8mg / kg. The minimum value was not detected while the maximum value was 0.21 mg / kg,and the confidence interval was ND-0.019 mg / kg(P5-P95). The medians of total Sb content in different fruits successively were dragon fruit(0.011 0 mg / kg) > kiwi fruit(0.008 0 mg / kg) > peach(0.006 0 mg / kg). According to the method of single factor pollution index,the index from all samples was less than 0.2,suggesting that the samples involved were under the normal background value.[Conclusion]The Sb was detected in all samples but under the background value,and it was concluded that there was no Sb pollution in fresh fruit in Hunan Province. 展开更多

Antimony speciation at the sediment-water interface of the Poyang Lake: response to seasonal variation 被引量:1

In order to identify the effects of seasonal variation on the migration and transformation of antimony species at the sediment-water interface of the Poyang Lake, the largest fresh lake in China, a simulation study was carried out in the laboratory. Antimony species including antimonite Sb(III), antimonate Sb(V) and the fraction of organic forms(Sb-org) in overlying water at different temperatures were regularly measured during the simulation period. Different bound antimony forms in sediments were also determined along with the different antimony species in porewaters after the simulation terminated. The results indicated that temperature change during seasonal alternation plays an important role in the migration and transformation behavior of antimony at the sediment-water interface of the Poyang Lake. Antimony species both in porewaters and overlying water were sensitive to the variation of temperature, especially the Sb-org species. Antimony migrates from porewaters to the overlying water when the temperature decreases, and meanwhile the equilibrium between Sb(III) and Sb(V) in porewaters shifts toward Sb(V) when the temperature increases during seasonal alternation. Although temperature had less influence on the antimony species in sediments than in porewaters or in the overlying water, the average content of each antimony species in sediments increased with the decrease of temperature, suggesting that the decrease of temperature causes enrichment of antimony in the sediment. 展开更多

High performance of lithium-sulfur batteries have been dragged down by their shuttling behavior which is complicated multiphase transition-based 16-electron redox reactions of the S8/Li2 S.In this article,the triple-phase interfaces of graphene-like carbon clusters on antimony trisulfide(C-Sb_(2)S_(3))nanowires are tailored to design a multifunctional polysulfide host which can inhibit migration of polysulfides and accelerate conversion kinetics of redox electrochemical reactions.Benefiting from the triple-interface design of polysulfides/Sb_(2)S_(3)/carbon clusters,the C-Sb_(2)S_(3) electrode not only anchors polysulfide migration by the synergistic effect of Sb,S,and C atoms as interfacial active sites,but also the graphene-like carbon clusters shorten the diffusion paths to further favor redox electron/ion transport through the liquid(electrolyte/polysulfide)and solid(Li2 S/S8,carbon clusters,and Sb_(2)S_(3))-based triple-phases.Therefore,these Li_(2)S_(6)-based C-Sb_(2)S_(3) cells possess high sulfur loading,excellent cycling stability,impressive specific capacity,and great rate capability.This work of interfacial engineering reveals insight for powering reaction kinetics in the complicated multistep catalysis reaction with multiphase evolution-based chargetransfer/non-transfer processes. 展开更多

Antimony sulfide(Sb_(2)S_(3))is a promising anode for lithium-ion batteries due to its high capacity and vast reserves.However,the low electronic conductivity and severe volume change during cycling hinder its commercialization.Herein our work,a three-dimensional(3D)Sb_(2)S_(3) thin film anode was fabricated via a simple vapor transport deposition system by using natural stibnite as raw material and stainless steel fiber-foil(SSF)as 3D current collector,and a carbon nanotube interphase was introduced onto the film surface by a simple dropping-heating process to promote the electrochemical performances.This 3D structure can greatly improve the initial coulombic efficiency to a record of 86.6% and high reversible rate capacity of 760.8 mAh·g^(-1) at 10 C.With carbon nanotubes interphase modified,the Sb_(2)S_(3) anode cycled extremely stable with high capacity retention of 94.7% after 160 cycles.This work sheds light on the economical preparation and performance optimization of Sb_(2)S_(3)-based anodes. 展开更多

This study was an attempt to realize the effects of antimony on freshwater swamp shrimp (Macrobrachium nipponense). An experiment of this nature, which have not previously been carried out in this species. First, median lethal concentrations were determined in acute toxicity tests. The 96-h LC50 value was 6.748 (5.728-7.950) mg Sb/l for adult M. nipponense and 1.635 (1.271-2.103) mg Sb/l for juvenile M. nipponense. Juvenile M. nipponense were exposed to 4 different sublethal levels of antimony (0.1, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 mg Sb/l) over a 7-d test period and a 7-d recovery period. After 30 min (acute), there was an increase in the amount of oxygen consumed in all exposed groups. On days 3, 7, and 14, decreases in oxygen consumption were significant (p < 0.05) for the higher-exposure level groups (0.8 and 1.2 mg/l). Light microscopy investigations showed histopathological alterations in the hepatopancreas which correlated with exposure concentrations. The alterations included degenerative changes in the lumen, a reduction in the lumen volume, and injury to epithelial cells in the histoarchitecture of hepatopancreas. 展开更多

The adsorption behavior of the modified and unmodified MMT has been investigated as a function of initial concentration of metal ion in the solution, pH of the solution and contact time using a batch extraction process. The optimized process can be applied for the adsorption, detection and estimation of antimony from 0.006 μg/ml (6.0 ppb) to 100.00 μg/ml (100.0 ppm) in aqueous solution. It has been observed that almost 99% of antimony (III) can be successfully extracted from a solution containing 100 μg/ml of the metal ion at pH 6.0 at 25?C ± 2?C. The investigation of the kinetics of sorption of antimony (III) on MMT/modified MMTshows intraparticle diffusion to be the rate limiting step during the initial stages of adsorption followed by chemisorption. 展开更多

Determination of Inorganic Antimony Species Conversions during Its Speciation Analysis in Soil Using Isotope Dilution Techniques 被引量:1

A new method was developed in this work to account for inorganic Sb species interconversion during soil sample preparation and subsequent separation steps. The Sb(III) and Sb(V) concentrations at each investigated step in the analytical procedure were determined using species specific spikes (121Sb(III) with 81.18% and 123Sb(V) with 74.04% enrichment). The spiking of these enriched isotopes species solutions was done separately before soil sample extraction and before HPLC separation. Simply by subtracting the final concentration of each species done by on-line isotope dilution (ID) from its concentration at different stages of the analytical procedure done by species specific ID, the influence of each step on species transformation can be estimated. After optimization, the extraction procedure for inorganic Sb species 6% Sb(III) (1.3 RSD, n = 3) and 43.2% Sb(V) (2.9% RSD, n = 3) as percent of total Sb were detected in the examined soil sample using online ID. Using the above described methodology we found that there was no reduction of Sb(V) to Sb(III) during sample preparation or species separation. While about 9.3% of extractable Sb (4.6% of total) was converted from Sb(III) to Sb(V) during the extraction step, no conversion during HPLC separation step was observed. By compensating for Sb(III) transformation during the sample preparation step;the extractable Sb(III) and Sb(V) as percent of total Sb yielded 10.6% and 38.7%, respectively. 展开更多
