Methods: In 13 elite Japanese female ballet dancers (average age, 22 years), markers related to bone quality were investigated. These included: serum homocystein (HC), a marker of increased oxidative stress;pentosidine (Pent), a marker of glycation- or oxidation-induced non-enzymatic cross-links;markers of bone metabolism (bone alkaline phosphatase, BAP;tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b, TRAP5b) and bone mineral density (BMD). It was determined whether there is a relationship between bone quality markers’ levels are related to amenorrhea and/or fatigue fractures. Results: Two dancers had fatigue fractures and 3 had a history of secondary amenorrhea. The average BMD was 1.305 ± 0.12 (g/cm2), in all these cases the Z-score was higher than -1.0. Although the serum levels of BAP, TRAP5b, and HC were normal in all examined dancers, in 2 out of 3 dancers with a history of secondary amenorrhea, pentosidine serum levels were increased. No relationship between bone quality markers’ levels and fatigue fractures was found. Conclusion: Latent deterioration of bone quality may occur in female athletes with secondary amenorrhea and otherwise normal BMD and calcium metabolism markers.展开更多

However his ballets and dance miniatures, along with the surprising choice of imagery and ballet language, testify that Yakobson has been one of the most outstanding choreographers of the 20th century. The aim of the article is to analyse Leonid Yakobson's most distinguished choreographic works. The chosen theme emphasises inovation in the choreographer's creative work. The chosen research method is analysis of the choreographed works of Leonid Yakobson. The article results show that his art, based on the experience of the Russian classical school of ballet, combines the early 20th century avant-garde principles with influences from the greatest choreographers of the Russian ballet.展开更多

The specific training required from early years may cause some changes compared to the normal human anatomy and physiology. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of motion analysis technologies for the evaluation of frequent changes in biomechanics of posture and dance. This paper presents an overview of the literature on the main postural compensation employed by the dancer; more specifically on the training effect of the fundamental basic techniques in ballet. It then focuses on the characteristics and potential of motion analysis technologies for the biomechanical evaluation of the dancer. The technologies investigated in this study are the optoelectronic system of gait analysis, which is one of the most advanced technologies for multifactorial motion analysis, integrated with the use of the force platform and the electromyography. These technologies enable a quantitative three-dimensional integrated multifactorial motion analysis in relation to kinematics and dynamics. Through specific systems of motion analysis, the instrumental analysis can describe objectively and with reasonable accuracy the biomechanics, the postural compensation, and the gait of the dancer.展开更多
