[Objective]The paper was to study the effects of fermentation bed padding on intestinal flora,serum biochemical indexes and immune function of growing-finishing pigs.[Method]A total of 90 growing-finishing pigs(Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire)with the body weight of(30.5±0.8)kg were randomly divided into five groups,three replicates each group,six pigs each replicate.The padding of five groups were:50%rice husk+50%sawdust(control group),100%spent mushroom substrate of Pleurotus eryngii(100%spent mushroom substrate group),15%rice husk+15%sawdust+70%spent mushroom substrate(70%spent mushroom substrate group),25%rice husk+25%sawdust+50%spent mushroom substrate(50%spent mushroom substrate group),35%rice husk+35%sawdust+30%spent mushroom substrate(30%spent mushroom substrate group).The pre-trial lasted 7 d,and the formal trial lasted 90 d.[Result]Compared with the control group,the number of Escherichia col in 100%,70%and 50%spent mushroom substrate groups decreased by 35.4%,24.0%and 20.8%,respectively(P<0.05);the number of salmonella successively decreased by 29.4%,19.3%and 15.2%,respectively(P<0.05);the number of lactobacillus successively increased by 21.7%,15.9%and 12.2%,respectively(P<0.05);and the number of bifidobacteria successively increased by 20.2%,16.7%and 11.8%,respectively(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the total serum protein content in 100%,70%,50%and 30%spent mushroom substrate groups increased by 30.6%,33.0%,28.0%and 18.4%,respectively(P<0.05);and the serum urea nitrogen content decreased by 32.4%,34.5%,33.9%and 22.0%,respectively(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in serum albumin,aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)between treatment groups and control group.The IgA,IgG,IgM and IL-6 levels in serum of each treatment group were significantly different from those of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in IgA,IgG,IgM and IL-6 levels among 100%,70%and 50%spent mushroom substrate groups.[Conclusion]It improves the balance of intestinal microecological flora of growing-finishing pigs and enhances the immune performance of pigs by using spent mushroom substrate of P.eryngii as the fermentation bed padding.15%rice husk+15%sawdust+70%spent mushroom substrate is the optimal proportion of spent mushroom substrate for growing-finishing pigs. 展开更多

To evaluate the acute lung toxicity and the effect on serum biochemical indexes of inhaled TiO2 nanotubes , healthy and adult Kunming mice are exposed to aerosols of TiO2nanotubes in a sealed chamber , the concentration of which is 250mg / m 3 while another group of mice are exposed to room air only served as control.The blood , alveolar lavaged fluid and lungs of the mice are collected and examined after exposed for 7 , 14and 28d , respectively.The serum analysis shows that glucose ( Glu ) values with 7dexposure , alanine aminotransferase ( ALT ) and aspartate aminotransferase ( AST ) activities with 28dinhalation , and total bile acid ( TBA ) values with 7 , 28d as well as the creatine kinase ( CK ) levels with 28dexposure are significantly different from those of controls ( P< 0.05 ) .The pathological findings exhibit that more TiO 2 nanotubes are found in the interstitium of pulmonary alveoli with the experimental time prolonged.The results suggest that TiO 2 nanotubes do produce adverse responses to the lung and serum biochemical indexes of mice.Moreover , the responses become severer with the exposed-time prolonged. 展开更多

To investigate the seasonal changes in physiological and biochemical indexes of Tibetan sheep in Hongyuan area,we measured the physiological and biochemical indexes of Tibetan sheep at four different seasons. The results showed that the body temperature,respiration and heart rate of Tibetan sheep at four seasons were 39. 18- 39. 60 ℃,27. 20- 49. 04 times / min,91. 87- 106. 25 times / min,respectively. The indexes of WBC,MCV,MCH and MCHC in autumn and winter were significantly higher than those in spring and summer( P < 0. 01),while the indexes of RBC,HCT and RDW-CV in spring and summer were significantly higher than those in autumn and winter( P < 0. 01). The PLT did not vary greatly in spring,summer or autumn,but were all extremely higher than that in winter( P< 0. 01). The HGB maintained stable in the four seasons. The indexes of TP,ALB and GLO in summer and autumn were extremely higher than those in winter and spring( P < 0. 01),while the indexes of ALP and PCHE in summer and autumn were extremely lower than those in winter and spring( P < 0. 01). BACKGROUND: At present, it is believed that the important causes of cerebral infarction are the disorders of lipid metabolism and endothelial function, and the outcomes of clinical treatment can be improved by regulating serum lipids and antiinflammation, etc. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of simvastatin, inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, on the levels of serum lipids, serum enzymic indexes and inflammatory metabolic indexes in patients with cerebral infarction. DESIGN: A comparative observation. SETTING: Department of Geriatrics, Longquanshan Hospital of Liuzhou City. PARTICIPANTS: Forty-eight patients with acute cerebral infarction were selected from the Department of Geriatrics of Longquanshan Hospital of Liuzhou from March 2004 to February 2006, including 24 males and 24 females, the mean age was (54±12) years, average disease course was (10.0±4.5) days. They were all accorded with the diagnostic standard for cerebral infarction set by the Fourth National Academic Meeting for Cerebrovascular Disease in 1999, and cerebral hemorrhage was excluded by cranial CT scanning. The 48 patients were randomly divided into control group (n =24) and treatment group (n =24). Informed consents were obtained from all the participants. METHODS: ① All the patients were treated according to the symptoms, besides those in the treatment group were given simvastatin (Harbin Pharm. Group Sanjing Pharmaceutical Shareholding, Co.,Ltd., No. H20010454; Batch number: 20040218; 5 mg/tablet). The initial dosage was 10 mg per day for 4 weeks, and then increased to 30 mg per day for another 4 weeks. ② Before treatment and within 1 week after treatment, the total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase and C reactive protein in serum were determined with Beckman-cx7 automatic biochemical analytical apparatus in both groups. ③ The differences of intergroup and intragroup data were compared with the independent-samples t test and paired samples t test. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Changes of total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-C, LDL-C, AST, creatine kinase and C reactive protein before and treatment in both groups. RESULTS: All the 48 patients with cerebral infarction were involved in the analysis of results. ① Changes of serum lipids: The levels of serum lipids were close between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, the HDL-C level in the treatment group was obviously higher than that in the control group and that before treatment [(1.34±0.12), (0.92±0.33), (0.93±0.21) mmol/L, t =7.922, 11.699, P < 0.01], and the levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-C were obviously lower than those in the control group and those before treatment (t =2.780-7.591, P < 0.01). ② Changes of serum enzymic indexes and C reactive protein in serum: The levels of enzymes and C reactive protein in serum had no obvious differences between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). The levels of AST, creatine kinase and C reactive protein in serum after treatment were obviously lower than those before treatment in both groups (t =7.259-17.996, P < 0.01). The levels of levels of creatine kinase and C reactive protein in serum after treatment in the treatment group were obviously lower than those in the control group [(3.061±0.522) μkat/L, (4.6±3.1) mg/L; (4.348±0.580) μkat/L, (12.3±4.8) mg/L, t =7.910, 6.463, P < 0.01]. CONCLUSION: Compared with common treatment according to symptoms, the additional administration of simvastatin is better for improving the serum lipids, serum enzymic indexes of patients with cerebral infarction at acute period, and benefit for repairing their inflammatory damages. 展开更多

In order to study the effects of replacing different proportions of silage maize with silage sweet sorghum treated by different fermentation methods on the production performance and blood biochemical indexes of dairy cows,25 Chinese Holstein lactating cows were randomly divided into 5 groups,5 in each group.The control check (CK) was fed the basal diet;for the experimental group 1 and the experimental group 2,50% of the silage maize in the basal diet was replaced with the additive silage sweet sorghum and the conventional silage sweet sorghum,respectively;and as to the experimental group 3 and the experimental group 4,all the silage maize in the basal diet was replaced with additive silage sweet sorghum and conventional silage sweet sorghum,respectively.The preliminary trial period was 7 d,and the trial period was 35 d.The results showed that the experimental group 1 and the experimental group 3 had the dry matter intake significantly higher than that of the experimental group 2,the experimental group 4 and the CK ( P <0.05).The daily milk yields of the experimental group 1 and the experimental group 2 were significantly lower than that of the CK ( P <0.05),and the experimental group 3 and the experimental group 4 were significantly lower than the experimental group 1 and the experimental group 2 ( P <0.05).The milk protein percentage of the experimental group 2 was extremely significantly higher than that of the experimental group 4 ( P <0.01).The experimental group 1,the experimental group 2 and the experimental group 3 showed the blood glucose levels extremely significantly higher than that in the CK ( P <0.01).The blood urea nitrogen contents in the experimental group 2 and the experimental group 4 were significantly higher than those in the experimental group 1 and the CK ( P <0.01).There were no significant differences in other blood biochemical indexes between various groups ( P >0.05).It is feasible to use silage sweet sorghum to feed dairy cows,but the proportion should not be too large,and attention should be paid to the energy and nitrogen balance of the diet. 展开更多

The influence of exercise at high temperature on adult males' routine blood indexes and biochemical indexes and the expression of HSP72 in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) was studied in order to provide theoretical ground for health supervision of adults receiving exercise at high temperature. 180 adult males were selected and divided into exercise group and control group, in which the exercise group was subdivided into subgroup 1 and subgroup 2 receiving exercise at high temperature in the afternoon and in the morning, respectively. Peripheral venous blood was phle- botomized before and after the exercise to examine routine blood indexes and blood biochemical indexes. The expression levels of HSP72 in PBLs were detected by flow cytometry. The results showed that the routine blood indexes and biochemical indexes in each group were within the range of normal values of male adults. There was no significant difference between each exercise group and control group in indexes before exercise. After exercise, the expression levels of HSP72 in PBLs in exercise groups were higher than those before exercise, and HSP72 expression levels in subgroup 1 were obviously higher than those in subgroup 2 and control group. The contents of ALT, urea, Na+, Cl-, Ca2+ and K+ in subgroups 1 and 2 were lower than those in control group, but CK level was higher than in control group (P<0.05). The contents of Na+ and Clin subgroup 1 were relatively lower than those in subgroup 2 (P<0.05). It was concluded that while receiving exercise at high temperature, adult males' HSP72 levels in PBLs could be increased and the biochemical indexes changed. Attention should be paid to health supervision to avoid obvious body injuries at high temperature. 展开更多

The experiment was set up for examining the physiological and biological indexes quickly and exactly, for obtaining information of tobacco-field fertilizing and tobacco growing. The ASD Field spec FR 2500 was used to measure spectra reflectance of flue-cured tobacco and the relationship between hyperspectral parameters and biochemical contents (total nitrogen, chlorophyll, carotenoid), and physiological indexes (fresh weight, dry weight, moisture content) of flue-cured tobacco leaves was studied by correlation and stepwise regression statistic methods at different nitrogen and potassium levels. The results indicated that the spectra curves of different treatments had obvious rules and great diversities. There were high correlations between different types of spectra parameters and ten physiological and biochemical indexes of flue-cured tobacco leaves. Hyperspectral characteristic variables of ten physiological and biochemical indexes were found through stepwise regression, and SDr/SDb was the characteristic variable closest to seven biochemical contents. Simultaneously, the R2 and regression coefficient of equations reached 0.05 significant level and the equations had good estimating effects through the examination of other samples. Accordingly, this study suggested that the ten physiological and biochemical indexes could be estimated quickly by the estimating models, at the same time nitrogen-potassium fertilization and growth condition of flue-cured tobacco could be inspected. 展开更多

[Method] A total of 1 200 chickens at the age of 44 weeks were selected and randomly divided into five groups. After administration with different dosages of astragalus polysaccharides and berberine for 9 weeks,serum biochemical indexes were determined and nutrient contents of egg were detected. [Result] The contents of total protein,globulin,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and alkaline phosphatase(ALP) in all treatment groups were significantly(P < 0.05 or 0.01) higher than those in the control group. The cholesterol contents of all treatment groups were significantly(P < 0.05 or 0.01) lower than those of the control group. [Conclusion] The optimal concentrations of astragalus polysaccharides and berberine in basic diets are 200 and 30 mg/kg,respectively. 展开更多

To study the changes in physiological and biochemical indexes of Tibetan sheep from the plateau area at different months of age,we measured the physiological and biochemical indexes of Tibetan sheep reared in Hongyuan County of Sichuan Province according to their growth stages. The results showed that the respiration,body temperature and heart rate of Tibetan sheep at 3- 24 months of age were( 24. 60 ± 6. 33)-( 50. 30 ± 21. 18) times / min,( 39. 14 ± 0. 28) ℃-( 39. 64 ± 0. 17) ℃ and( 91. 00 ± 13. 27)-( 112. 00 ± 8. 69) times/min,respectively. The blood physiological indexes of Tibetan sheep including white blood cell count( WBC),hematocrit( HCT) and red blood cell distribution width coefficient of variation( RDW- CV) at 3,6,15 and 18 months of age were relatively lower than those at 9,12,21 and 24 months of age. The blood physiological indexes including red blood cell count( RBC),mean corpuscular capacity( MCV),mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration( MCHC) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin( MCH) at 3,6,15 and 18 months of age were relatively higher than those at 9,12,21 and 24 months of age,while hemoglobin( HGB) and platelet count( PLT) did not vary with months of age. For blood biochemical indexes,alanine aminotransferase( ALT),albumin( ALB),globulin( GLO) and total cholesterol( CHOL) reached the maximum values at 21 months of age; alkaline phosphatase( ALKP),lactate dehydrogenase( LDH),blood glucose( GLU) and pseudocholinesterase( PCHE) reached the maximum values at 3 months of age;and total calcium( CA),total protein( TP),aspartate aminotransferase( AST) reached the maximum values at 9,18 and 24 months of age,respectively. 展开更多

BACKGROUND:Hemorrheologic indexes and the disturbances of lipid metabolism are closely correlated with stroke.Whether scalp acupuncture can correct the abnormality of hemorrheologic indexes,and improve the hyperviscosity of stroke patients,and then ameliorate their brain function? OBJECTIVE:To observe the curative effect of internationally standardized scheme of scalp acupuncture on stroke,and analyze the influence of scalp acupuncture on the hemorrheologic indexes,levels of blood lipids and plasma endothelin in stroke patients.DESIGN:A randomized controlled observation.SETTING:Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,Wuhan Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.PARTICIPANTS:Totally 128 stroke inpatients were selected from the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion,Wuhan Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from May 2000 to June 2005,including 72 males and 56 females,with an average age of(64±37)years.All the subjects were accorded with the diagnostic standards of stroke in the criteria for the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) diagnosis and efficacy evaluation(in trial)and the diagnostic key points for cerebrovascular diseases revised by Chinese Association of Neurology,and they were all confirmed by cranial CT scanning.Of the 128 patients,there 73 cases of cerebral infarction,48 of cerebral hemorrhage,and 7 of mixed type.For TCM diagnosis,there were 79 cases of stroke involving channels and 49 cases of stroke involving zangfu organs.The stroke patients with randomly divided into scalp acupuncture group(n=66)and body acupuncture group(n=62).Meanwhile, 15 healthy physical examinees were taken as the normal control group. All the subjects were informed and agreed with the treatment scheme.METHODS:①Scalp acupuncture group:Anterior oblique line of vertex-temporal[from Qianshencong to Xuanli (GB 6)]and posterior oblique line of vertex-temporal[from Baihui (DU 20)to Qubin(GB 7)]were selected as the acupoints to perform acupuncture successively with 3 needles.At approximately 30.angle,the needle was quickly inserted beneath the scalp.When the needlepoint reached the lower layer of galea aponeurotica and less resistance was felt by fingers,the needle was inserted horizontally as scalp for another 1.0-1.5 cun,then twirled rapidly and continuously at the speed of about 220 times per minute. Afterwards the needle was retained for thirty minutes and twirled once every five minutes, and every twirling lasted for two or three minutes.During the retention,the affected part should be moved about either actively or passively.②Body acupuncture group:The acupoints were Jianyu(LI 15),Quchi(LI 11),Hegu(LI 14),Waiguan(SJ 5),Huantiao (GB 30),Yanglingquan(GB 34),Zusanli(ST 36)and Sanyinjiao(SP 6),etc.,and eight to ten acupoints of them were inserted each time using acupuncture needles(1.0-4.0 cun).Having brought about the needling sensation in acupuncture treatment,uniform reinforcing-reducing method was conducted.The needles were also retained for 30 minutes with hand manipulating of the needles once every five minutes. Both groups received treatments once a day.and six treatments as a course,there was a one-day interval between two courses,continuously for 4 courses. ③The Criteria for Diagnosis and Therapeutic Effect Evaluation of Apoplexy was applied to evaluate the curative effects of all the patients after 4 courses.④At one day before the treatment and after four courses of treatment,the hemorrheologic indexes were assayed with LBY-N6 hemorrheologic apparatus produced by Tianjin Techcomp Ltd:And blood lipids were tested with automatic biochemical analyzer,while radioimmunoassay(RIA)was used to measure the level of plasma endothelin.⑤Difference of ranked data were compared by means of Radit analysis.And t test was used for comparison between two groups while pairing t test was used for comparison of enumeration data before and after treatment.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ①Comparison of curative effects between the scalp acupuncture group and body acupuncture group;②Changes of hemorrheologic indexes,levels of blood lipids and apolipoprotein in the stroke patients before and after scalp acupuncture treatment;⑨Comparison of level of plasma endothelin between the scalp acupuncture group and normal control group before and after scalp acupuncture treatment.RESULTS:Thirty-six patients in the scalp acupuncture group were excluded due to incomplete data,thus there were 30 cases in the scalp acupuncture group, 62 cases in the body acupuncture group and 15 controls entered into the result analysis.①Comparison of curative effects between the scalp acupuncture group and body acupuncture group:There was no significant difference in the curative effects between the scalp acupuncture group(91%,60/66)and body acupuncture group(86%,54/62)(u=1.77,P>0.05).②Changes of hemorrheologic indexes,blood lipids and level of apolipoprotein in the stroke patients before and after scalp acupuncture treatment:In the scalp acupuncture group,the whole blood viscosity at high shear rate,plasma high shear rate,hematocrit,erythocyte aggregation index and whole blood reduction viscosity after treatment [(4.44±1.08)mPa·s,(2.00±0.53)mPa·s,(38.46±5.88)%,(1.99±0.38),(22.76±6.78)mPa·s]were obviously lower than those before treatment [(5.08±0.92)mPa·s,(2.34±0.58)mPa·s,(41.69±5.89)%,(2.36±0.57),(29.96±7.92)mPa·s,t=2.156-1.783,P<0.05-0.01];Whereas the deformation index increased significantly after treatment (0.91±0.33,0.75±0.21,t=2.240,P<0.05).In addition,the levels of total cholesterol,triglyceride,low density lipoprotein cholesterol along with apolipoprotein B were remarkably reduced in the scalp acupuncture group after treatment as compared with those before treatment[(4.80±1.16),(3.22±1.31)mmol/L,(0.93±0.26)g/L;(5.56±1.22),(1.76±0.45),(4.28±1.29)mmol/L,(1.23±0.53)g/L,t=2.473-3.158,P<0.05-0.01=;Meanwhile,the ratio of apolipoprotein A and B was elevated (1.92±1.05,1.49±0.71,t=2.154,P<0.05=.③Effect of scalp acupuncture group was notably than that in the normal control group of plasma endothelin in the scalp acupuncture group was notably higher than that in the normal control group [(117.93±31.80),(54.80±13.21)mg/L,t=7.345,P<0.01=,but declined dramatically after treatment [(70.87±29.49)ng/L,t=5.943,P<0.01=.CONCLUSION:①Scalp acupuncture treatment has been proved to have an affirmative curative effect on stroke,identical as that of body acupuncture treatment.②Moreover,scalp acupuncture can improve the hemorrheologic indexes,accommodate disturbances in lipid metatbolism and reduce the level of plasma endothelin in stroke patients. 展开更多

Objective:To investigate the correlation of sex hormones with adipocytokines and bone metabolism biochemical indexes in women with menopausal osteoporosis.Methods: A total of 118 female patients who were diagnosed with menopausal osteoporosis in the West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University between September 2015 and October 2017 were selected as menopausal osteoporosis group, and 100 menopausal women with normal bone density who received medical examination in the West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University during the same period were selected as normal control group. The contents of sex hormones, adipocytokines and bone metabolism biochemical indexes in peripheral blood were compared between two groups of women, and Pearson test was used to evaluate the correlation between sex hormones and disease severity in women with menopausal osteoporosis.Results: E2 content in the peripheral blood of menopausal osteoporosis group was significantly lower than that of control group whereas FSH and LH contents were not significantly different from those of control group;Resistin and chemerin contents in peripheral blood were higher than those of control group whereas LEP and Visfatin contents were lower than those of control group;OC, NBAP, TRACP and ICTP contents in peripheral blood were significantly higher than those of control group. Pearson test showed that the sex hormone E2 content in women with menopausal osteoporosis was directly correlated with the contents of adipocytokines and bone metabolism biochemical indexes.Conclusion: The sex hormone expression is abnormal in women with menopausal osteoporosis, and the specific abnormal level can objectively reflect the condition of osteoporosis. 展开更多

[Objective]This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary betaine on performance,egg quality and serum biochemical parameters of laying hens under heat stress condition. [Method]A total of 600 22-week-old commercial Roman laying hens were randomly divided into five groups,with eight replicates in each group and 15 hens in each replicate. Group I was taken as the positive control group,and laying hens in group I were fed with basal diets in normal thermal environment. Temperature humidity index of group I was between 64. 9 and 68. 9. Group II was taken as the negative control group,and laying hens in group II were fed with basal diets under heat stress condition. Temperature humidity index of group II was higher than 72. Laying hens in groups III-V were fed with basal diets supplemented with 200,400 and 600 mg/kg betaine under heat stress condition respectively,and temperature humidity indexes in groups III-V were all higher than 72. The experiment lasted for 14 weeks. [Results]Results showed that there were no significant differences in average daily feed intake,feed egg ratio and broken egg rate among different test groups( P > 0. 05). Hen-housed laying rate,hen-housed egg yield,serum total protein( TP) content and serum alkaline phosphatase( AKP) activity in group II were significantly lower than those in group I( P < 0. 05). However,activities of glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase( GOT),creatine kinase( CK) and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase( GPT) in group II were significantly higher than those in group I( P < 0. 05). Hen-housed laying rate,hen-housed egg yield and serum TP content in group IV were significantly higher than those in group II( P < 0. 05). Hen-housed egg yield,serum TP content and serum albumin( ALB) content in group V were significantly higher than those in group II( P < 0. 05). Activities of serum CK and GPT in groups IV and V were significantly lower than those in group II( P < 0. 05),serum triglyceride( TG) content in group V was significantly lower than that in group II( P < 0. 05).[Conclusion]Metabolism and physiological function of laying hens could be affected by heat stress,and which caused a decline in performance. Adding of dietary betaine in diets could improve hen-housed egg production and hen-housed laying rate,which could also improve the health of laying hens under heat stress condition. The results showed that the body temperature,respiration and heart rate of White-tibetan sheep at 3- 24 months of age were( 38. 89 ± 0. 56)-( 39. 83 ± 0. 32) ℃,( 26. 00 ± 6. 67)-( 58. 64 ± 12. 67) times / min and( 83. 90 ± 7. 64)-( 111. 36 ±7. 46) times/min,respectively. The blood physiological indexes of WBC,HCT and RDW-CV at 3,6,15 and 18 months of age were lower than those at 9,12,21 and 24 months of age. On the contrary,the indexes of RBC,MCV,MCH and MCHC at 3,6,15 and 18 months of age were higher than those at 9,12,21 and 24 months of age,while HGB and PLT did not vary with months of age. For blood biochemical indexes,ALT,AST,TP,ALB,LDH and CHOL reached the maximums at 21 months of age,while ALP,PCHE and GLU reached the maximums at 3 months of age. Besides,the GLO and GA reached the maximums at 18 and 24 months of age,respectively. The physiological and biochemical indexes of White-tibetan sheep followed certain rules in growth and development process,and might be affected by plateau climate and season. 展开更多

In order to compare the physiological and biochemical indexes of different sheep populations in plateau area,we measured the physiological and biochemical indexes of White Suffolk sheep,White-tibetan sheep and Tibetan sheep in four seasons.The body temperature,respiration and heart rate of White Suffolk sheep,White-tibetan sheep and Tibetan sheep throughout the year were(38.96±0.23)-(40.80±0.74)℃,(27.20±7.73)-(74.56±10.91)times/min,and(83.10±2.42)-(106.25±7.07)times/min,respectively.The main blood physiological indexes of White-tibetan sheep were between those of Suffolk sheep and Tibetan sheep or close to that of Tibetan sheep,the indexes of WBC in summer,HGB and RDW-CV in autumn,RDW-CV in winter were close to that of White Suffolk sheep.The main blood biochemical indexes of White-tibetan sheep were between that of White Suffolk sheep and Tibetan sheep or close to that of Tibetan sheep,but the indexes of ALB in spring,AST in summer,ALP and CHOL in autumn,and ALP in winter were close to that of White Suffolk sheep.It revealed that the adaptability of White-tibetan sheep was prior to White Suffolk sheep,and tended to Tibetan sheep in the plateau environment. 展开更多

[Objective] This trial was to investigate the effect of dietary Picria felterrae Lour extracts on serum biochemical indexes and immune function of Guangxi Partridge chickens. [Method] Totally 500 individuals of 1-day-old Guangxi Partridge chickens were randomly divided into five groups, five replicates each group and 20 chicks each replicate. Groups A, B and C were treatment groups supplemented with 0.70%, 0.35% and0.175% P. felterrae extracts in the basal diet, respectively; group D was a medical control group supplemented with 0.01% colistin sulfate premix in the basal diet; and group E was a control group with basal diet. Serum samples were collected from 10 chickens in each group at 21, 35 and 49 days of age, to analyze the biochemical and immune indexes. [Result] It had no significant impact on serum TP and GLU contents of chickens by adding different levels of P. felterrae extracts in the basal diet(P >0.05). However, at 21 and 35 days of age, the TBILI content of chickens in groups A, B and C were extremely lower or significantly lower than that in group E( P<0.01; P<0.05). At 35 days of age, the serum AKP activities in groups A, B and C were extremely higher than that in group E(P<0.01), and the serum GOT activities at 21 and 35 days of age in group C were significantly higher than that in group E(P<0.05). At 49 days of age, the serum Ig G content in groups A, B and C and the IL-2 content in group B and group C were significantly lower or extremely lower than that in group E( P<0.05; P<0.01); the T-AOC content in group B was significantly higher than that in group E(P<0.05); the GSH content in groups A, B and C were significantly higher than that in group E( P<0.05). Adding different levels of P. felterrae extracts in the diet significantly decreased the TBILI content, reduced the Ig G, IL-2 and IL-6 contents, and improved the AKP and GOT activities and the T-AOC and GSH contents of Guangxi Partridge chicken. [Conclusion] Adding 0.35% P. felterrae extracts in the basal diet received the best effort. 展开更多

[Method] The sows were fed on the diets supplemented with the NS series composite lactobacillus preparation, and the changes of production performance, plasma biochemical indexes, levels of IgG, IgA and IgM in serum and colostrum, and T lymphocyte subpopulations were detected. [Result] When the NS series composite lactobacillus preparation was supplemented to the sow diet at a proportion of 0.2%, the average weaning litter weight at 21 days old was significantly increased. The serum contents of total protein and glucose as well as the serum activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were significantly increased after 30 d post delivery. Moreover, the levels of IgG, IgA and IgM in serum and colostrum of sows were significantly increased at the time of delivery and after 30 d post delivery. The antibodies in colostrum could be maintained at high levels. The percentage of CD3+ and CD4+ lymphocyte subpopulations was also increased after supplementation with the NS series composite lactobacillus preparation at a proportion of 0.2%. [Conclusion] The NS series composite lactobacillus preparation can improve performance, promote growth and metabolism, and enhance humoral and cellular immunity in sows. 展开更多

The results showed that with the increase of stress concentration,the content of chlorophyll-a decreased and the activity of POD first increased and then maintained at a certain level or decreased slowly. The contents of soluble sugar,malondialdehyde,soluble protein and free proline increased,and the root activity increased first and then decreased. The relative conductivity of J. curcas seedlings decreased first and then increased,which indicated that the leaves of J. curcas seedlings had some adaptability and self-repairing capability under zinc toxicity stress,but the adaptability and self-repair ability were limited. 展开更多

While the use of mechanical techniques requires transporting huge amounts of soil materials, the cement used in chemical techniques may lead to increase atmospheric carbon dioxide. Numerous studies indicate that biochemical techniques may be less expensive, cost effective, and environmentally friendly. Biopolymers and enzymes derived from microorganisms have been suggested as biological enhancers in strengthening and fortifying soils used for earthen structures. Lime and other treatment techniques used as biobased materials have been shown to be less effective for stabilizing soils. Here, we review biochemical processes and techniques involved in the interactions of soil enzymes, microorganisms, microbial extracellular polymeric substances, and other biopolymers with soil particles, and the challenges and strategies of their use as biobased materials for stabilizing soils. Background Cotton is a strategically important fibre crop for global textile industry.It profoundly impacts several countries’industrial and agricultural sectors.Sustainable cotton production is continuously threatened by the unpre-dictable changes in climate,specifically high temperatures.Breeding heat-tolerant,high-yielding cotton cultivars with wide adaptability to be grown in the regions with rising temperatures is one of the primary objectives of modern cotton breeding programmes.Therefore,the main objective of the current study is to figure out the effective breed-ing approach to imparting heat tolerance as well as the judicious utilization of commercially significant and stress-tolerant attributes in cotton breeding.Initially,the two most notable heat-susceptible(FH-115 and NIAB Kiran)and tolerant(IUB-13 and GH-Mubarak)cotton cultivars were spotted to develop filial and backcross populations to accom-plish the preceding study objectives.The heat tolerant cultivars were screened on the basis of various morphological(seed cotton yield per plant,ginning turnout percentage),physiological(pollen viability,cell membrane thermostabil-ity)and biochemical(peroxidase activity,proline content,hydrogen peroxide content)parameters.Results The results clearly exhibited that heat stress consequently had a detrimental impact on every studied plant trait,as revealed by the ability of crossing and their backcross populations to tolerate high temperatures.However,when considering overall yield,biochemical,and physiological traits,the IUB-13×FH-115 cross went over particularly well at both normal and high temperature conditions.Moreover,overall seed cotton yield per plant exhibited a posi-tive correlation with both pollen viability and antioxidant levels(POD activity and proline content).Conclusions Selection from segregation population and criteria involving pollen viability and antioxidant levels concluded to be an effective strategy for the screening of heat-tolerant cotton germplasms.Therefore,understanding acquired from this study can assist breeders identifying traits that should be prioritized in order to develop climate resilient cotton cultivars. 展开更多
