Weight gain and duration of obesity increase metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease risk in young adulthood, which supports the need for weight loss interventions tailored to college students. The purpose of this investigation was to conduct a mixed methods pilot trial to determine the efficacy and acceptability of a semester long Internet-and incentive-based weight loss intervention for overweight/obese college freshmen. Participants (n = 27, aged >18 yrs, BMI >25) were randomly assigned to a 12-week social cognitive theory (SCT)-based intervention (Fit Freshmen [FF]) or a health information control group. The FF intervention also included modest financial incentives for weight loss. Primary outcomes included body weight/composition, dietary and physical activity (PA) behaviors, and psychosocial measures (i.e. self-efficacy, self-regulation) associated with diet, PA, and weight loss. Under the effects of COVID-19 and a number of ongoing lockdown tactics,anxiety symptoms and poor sleep quality have become common mental health issues among college freshmen and are intimately related to their emotion...Under the effects of COVID-19 and a number of ongoing lockdown tactics,anxiety symptoms and poor sleep quality have become common mental health issues among college freshmen and are intimately related to their emotional adaptation.To explore this connection,this study gathered data from a sample of 256 freshmen enrolled in an elite university in China in September 2022.The association between sleep quality,anxiety symptoms,and emotional adaptation was clarified using correlation analysis.Additionally,the mediating function of anxiety symptoms between sleep quality and emotional adaptation was investigated using a structural equation model.The results reveal that:(1)Chinese elite university freshmen who were subjected to prolonged lockdown had poor sleep quality and mild anxiety symptoms;(2)a significant positive correlation between poor sleep quality and anxiety symptoms was identified;(3)anxiety symptoms were found to have a significant negative impact on emotional adaptation;(4)poor sleep quality had a negative impact on emotional adaptation through anxiety symptoms.This research makes a valuable contribution by offering insights into the intricate relationship between sleep quality and emotional adaptation among freshmen in elite Chinese universities during prolonged lockdown conditions,and it is beneficial for schools and educators to further improve school schedules and psychological health initiatives.展开更多

AIM:To compare and analyse the diagnostic efficacy of the College of Optometrists Vision Development Quality of Life Questionnaire(COVD-QOL)and the Convergence Insufficiency Symptom Survey(CISS)in detecting convergenc...AIM:To compare and analyse the diagnostic efficacy of the College of Optometrists Vision Development Quality of Life Questionnaire(COVD-QOL)and the Convergence Insufficiency Symptom Survey(CISS)in detecting convergence insufficiency and to compare their diagnostic value in clinical applications.METHODS:Using the diagnostic test method,62 adult patients with convergence insufficiency(age:24.74±3.75y)and 62 normal participants(age:23.61±3.13y)who visited the Optometry Clinic of West China Hospital of Sichuan University from April 2021 to January 2023 were included.All subjects completed the CISS and COVD-QOL.Statistical analysis of the sensitivity and specificity of the CISS and COVD-QOL and comparison and joint experimental analysis of their diagnostic efficacy were performed.RESULTS:The sensitivity of the CISS and COVD-QOL for convergence insufficiency was 64.5%and 71.0%,respectively,while the specificity was 96.8%and 67.7%,respectively.Compared to the CISS alone,the combination of the CISS and COVD-QOL demonstrated lower sensitivity and specificity.The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of CISS,COVD-QOL and CISS combined with COVD-QOL were 0.806,0.694 and 0.782,respectively.CONCLUSION:Considering the low sensitivity of the CISS and the low specificity of the COVD-QOL,it is recommended to supplement these questionnaires with other screening tests for the detection of convergence insufficiency.展开更多

To evaluate the efficacy of online learning and explore the impact of long-term use of electronic products on facial skin as well as eyes.A cross-sectional survey was conducted to 180 sophomores in Xi′an Jiaotong Uni...To evaluate the efficacy of online learning and explore the impact of long-term use of electronic products on facial skin as well as eyes.A cross-sectional survey was conducted to 180 sophomores in Xi′an Jiaotong University by cluster random sampling from September to October 2021.The questionnaire covering study condition,skin lesion and Ocular Surface Disease Index.χ_(2) test was used to compare the facial skin condition among different groups,and spearman correlation test was used to test the correlation of rank data.During online education,students′learning pressure is reduced,their autonomy is improved,and the learning efficiency is reduced.There were differences in the incidence of facial itching and papules among different groups.Duration of use of electronic products was positively correlated with the facial itching,with an r value of 0.231(P<0.05);the proportion of pigmentation in non-blue light protection groups(12.8%)was higher than that in blue light protection groups(1.7%),the difference was statistically significant(χ_(2)=8.384,P<0.05).The prevalence of dry eye among college students is 66.7%,and the proportion of moderate to severe dry eye is 34.5%.The study autonomy has been improved during online teaching.Long-term use of electronic products and no blue light protection have an impact on facial skin.Students should enhance the knowledge of skin-care and eye-care and develop better habits.展开更多

文摘To evaluate the efficacy of online learning and explore the impact of long-term use of electronic products on facial skin as well as eyes.A cross-sectional survey was conducted to 180 sophomores in Xi′an Jiaotong University by cluster random sampling from September to October 2021.The questionnaire covering study condition,skin lesion and Ocular Surface Disease Index.χ_(2) test was used to compare the facial skin condition among different groups,and spearman correlation test was used to test the correlation of rank data.During online education,students′learning pressure is reduced,their autonomy is improved,and the learning efficiency is reduced.There were differences in the incidence of facial itching and papules among different groups.Duration of use of electronic products was positively correlated with the facial itching,with an r value of 0.231(P<0.05);the proportion of pigmentation in non-blue light protection groups(12.8%)was higher than that in blue light protection groups(1.7%),the difference was statistically significant(χ_(2)=8.384,P<0.05).The prevalence of dry eye among college students is 66.7%,and the proportion of moderate to severe dry eye is 34.5%.The study autonomy has been improved during online teaching.Long-term use of electronic products and no blue light protection have an impact on facial skin.Students should enhance the knowledge of skin-care and eye-care and develop better habits.
文摘New media is becoming an important method to promote physical exercise,and it is also an essential factor affecting the physical exercise behavior of college students.This study takes the influence of new media sports information on college students’physical exercise behavior as the research objective.By using a questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics,545 college students in Shandong Province of China are selected as research samples.Based on the theory of new media exposure,fitness behavior theory,and self-efficacy theory,this study systematically discusses the influence and mechanism of new media exposure on the physical exercise behavior of college students in Shandong Province,so as to help college students improve their physical exercise behavior.

文摘This study investigates the effects of technical cheerleading and dance cheerleading on the psychological health of female college students by utilizing the Symptom Checklist-90(SCL-90),the Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale for Interpersonal Relationships,and the Social Adaptability Diagnostic Scale.The findings indicate the following:(1)Technical cheerleading has a highly significant impact on sensitivity in interpersonal relationships,paranoia,and psychoticism,and a significant effect on anxiety and hostility;dance cheerleading has a highly significant effect on paranoia;(2)Both technical and dance cheerleading have minimal impact on the overall score distribution of interpersonal relationships among female college students,but the dimensions of their effects differ;(3)The impact of technical cheerleading on the social adaptability of female college students is more pronounced than that of dance cheerleading.

文摘There is an urgent need for high-quality talents with ideological and moral character for the development of higher education and the cultivation of English majors who meet the requirements of the times.The course reform in English majors from the ideological and political perspective is an important way to improve the comprehensive quality and moral values of students,which helps to cultivate English talents with social responsibility and innovative abilities.This paper analyzes the problems in the current courses through literature review and field research,such as the lack of ideological and political perspective and low interest of students in ideological and political content.Based on these issues,taking the course“Comprehensive English”as an example,various teaching stages were practiced from the aspects of learning objectives,learning content,learning situation,implementation ideas,implementation effects,and teaching evaluation.Additionally,some suggestions are proposed,such as integrating ideological and political content into the entire process of teaching.The teaching staff needs to possess high-level English teaching ability and ideological and political perspective,standardize the evaluation system,and integrate epistemology into the evaluation process of ideological and political education,in order to promote in-depth research and exploration of ideological and political education of English majors.
