This study conducted a 16-week comparative experiment with 160 students from Jinan No.5 Middle School in Shandong Province as the experimental subjects.During the implementation of the experiment,the subjects were divided into two groups:an experimental group and a control group.The experimental group was subjected to physical exercise interventions using sports game teaching methods during physical education class,while the control group followed traditional physical education teaching methods.The results showed that the psychological health status of the students in the experimental group was significantly better than that of the control group after the experiment.The application of sports games helps to improve the psychological health of middle school students in the course of physical education,promoting a positive and forward direction in student psychology and is an effective means to enhance the psychological health level of middle school students. 展开更多

Investigation of NSSI loca... Background Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behaviour is very common among adolescents. Its prevalence and behavioural characteristics may vary according to regional and cultural differences. Investigation of NSSI locations and diagnosis of adolescents with NSSI are relatively lacking in China. Aims The study objective was to determine the prevalence and features of NSSI among middle school students in Shanghai. Methods The participants were from grade 6 to 8 selected from three junior schools in Jing’an District. Consenting students completed the Ottawa Self-Injury Inventory to determine the prevalence and characteristics of NSSI. Those who indicated NSSI within the past month were administered the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents to assess for emotional disorders. Result The result shows 510 participants (21.7%;mean age 13.51 (0.97) years old;56.7% female) reported at least one instance of NSSI during the previous 12 months. NSSI was significantly more common in girls than boys (24.9% vs 18.5%;χ^2=14.03, p=0.00). Commonly reported reasons for NSSI were for internal and external emotion regulation (87.9%, 82.3%) and social influence (57.8%). Anxiety disorders were the most common (28.9%) disorder associated with NSSI. Conclusion The rate of NSSI of middle school students in Shanghai inner bound is similar to those reported in North American and European youth. It is essential that school mental health professionals are aware of how to manage NSSI within the school setting. 展开更多

Objective To analyze and evaluate the impact of adolescents’ sexual and reproductive health education on students’ sexual knowledge,attitude and behavior.Methods A short term intervention was conducted among high school students in two schools in Xixiang county,Shaanxi Province.The intervention was carried out in the forms of manual,video,discussion,consultation,and so on .The contents of intervention consisted of the knowledge about adolescent physiology,care,conception,STD/HIV, and so on. Results The results showed that students’ knowledge increased significantly(11.92±4.61 before intervention vs 19.81±4.8 after intervention, P =0.000).The sexual attitude and behavior changed insignificantly,especially the change of behavior.Conclusion The intervention is significantly effective in increasing knowledge,but less effective in the change of attitude and almost ineffective in the behavior change. 展开更多

Four junior middle schools and two senior middle schools in Xuh... Objective To evaluate the impact of family-school combined sex education among middle school students. Methods This is a school-based intervention study. Four junior middle schools and two senior middle schools in Xuhui District, Shanghai, were selected as study sites involving parents, two junior middle schools and one senior middle school as the intervention group and others as control group. The intervention group was provided with both school and family education which contained giving lectures, distribut- ing leaflets, organizing group discussions and parent-adolescent communicating activities to parents. Data were collected through anonymous and self-administered questionnaires before and after one-year intervention to evaluate the effect of the intervention. Results The average score of parents in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group after intervention. Particularly, the mean score of AIDS knowl- edge in the intervention group was increased by 10.5, which was more than that of control group (5.3). The intervention increased the parents’ intention to family sex education. The percentage of parents in the intervention group approving “sex educa- tion should be provided by parents” had increased, much higher than that in the con- trol group. Intervention also promoted parent-adolescent communication about sex. The percentage of parents reporting “they actively talked with their children about sex or their teens asked them questions related to sex” had increased, much higher than that in the control group. Conclusion Family-school combined sex education significantly increased sexual knowledge and sex education intention of parents, promoted the parent-adolescent communication about sex as well. 展开更多

Objective.To understand and analyze the mental health status of key Senior School Students at grade 3 in Haidian District of Bey ing and Senior Three Students in General Schools,so as to provide basis for mental health education and psychological intervention.Methods.A total of 263 senior three students were randomly selected from a general school and two key school in Haidian District of Beijing.A questionnaire survey was conducted using the Mental Health Scale for Chinese Middle School Students(MSSMHS).Results.Of the 260 students surveyed,54.2%had mental health problems,36.5%had mild problems,8.8%had moderate problems,and 0.5%had slightly and deeply serious problems.The first three factors about examined rates of factors of mental health were anxiety,learning and interpersonal relationship.The detection rates accounted for 23.5%,23.1%and 18.8%respectively.There was no significant difference in the scores of each factor between key and ordinary middle school students(P>0.05).The scores of interpersonal,depression,anxiety and emotional factors of middle school girls were higher than those of boys,with statistical significance(P<0.05)?Conclusion.There are some mental health problems among senior students at grade 3 in Haidian District of Beijing,and female students9 are serious.Schools,families and societies should pay attention to this problem and strengthen mental health education with a focused goal. 展开更多
