Restructuring tilth layers(RTL)is a tillage method that exchanges the 0–20 and 20–40 cm soil layers that can be applied during cotton cultivation to increase cotton yield,eliminate weeds and alleviate severe disease...Restructuring tilth layers(RTL)is a tillage method that exchanges the 0–20 and 20–40 cm soil layers that can be applied during cotton cultivation to increase cotton yield,eliminate weeds and alleviate severe disease,including Verticillium wilt.However,the mechanism by which RTL inhibits Verticillium wilt is unclear.Therefore,we investigated the distribution of microbial communities after rotary tillage(CK)and RTL treatments to identify the reasons for the reduction of Verticillium wilt in cotton fields subjected to RTL.Illumina high-throughput sequencing was used to sequence the bacterial and fungal genes.The disease incidence and severity of Verticillium wilt decreased by 28.57%and 42.64%,respectively,after RTL.Moreover,RTL significantly enhanced bacterial richness and evenness at 20–40 cm and-reduced the differences in fungal evenness and richness between soil depths of 0–20 and 20–40 cm.The number of Verticillium dahliae decreased,while the relative abundance of biocontrol bacteria such as Bacillus and Pseudoxanthomonas increased significantly following RTL.Overall RTL improved bacterial diversity,decreased the number of Verticillium dahliae and increased the relative abundance of biocontrol bacteria,which may have suppressed the occurrence of Verticillium wilt in cotton fields.展开更多
Objective:The integration of training in theory and practice across the medical education spectrum is being encouraged to increase student understanding and skills in the sciences.This study aimed to determine the dec...Objective:The integration of training in theory and practice across the medical education spectrum is being encouraged to increase student understanding and skills in the sciences.This study aimed to determine the deciding factors that drive students'perceived advantages in class to improve precision education and the teaching model.Methods:A mixed strategy of an existing flipped classroom(FC)and a case-based learning(CBL)model was conducted in a medical morphology curriculum for 575 postgraduate students.The subjective learning evaluation of the individuals(learning time,engagement,study interest and concentration,and professional integration)was collected and analyzed after FC-CBL model learning.Results:The results from the general evaluation showed promising results of the medical morphology in the FC-CBL model.Students felt more engaged by instructors in person and benefited in terms of time-saving,flexible arrangements,and professional improvement.Our study contributed to the FC-CBL model in Research Design in postgraduate training in 4 categories:1)advancing a guideline of precision teaching according to individual characteristics;2)revealing whether a learning background is needed for a Research Design course to guide setting up a preliminary course;3)understanding the perceived advantages and their interfaces;and 4)barriers and/or improvement to implement the FC-CBL model in the Research Design class,such as a richer description of e-learning and hands-on practice.Conclusion:Undertaking a FC-CBL combined model could be a useful addition to pedagogy for medical morphology learning in postgraduate training.展开更多

Existing text-to-SQL approaches focus on improving the model’s architecture while ignoring the relationship between queries and table schemas and the differences in difficulty between examples in the dataset. To tackle these challenges, a two-stage curriculum learning framework for text-to-SQL(TSCL-SQL) is proposed in this paper. To exploit the relationship between the queries and the table schemas, a schema identification pre-training task is proposed to make the model choose the correct table schema from a set of candidates for a specific query. To leverage the differences in difficulty between examples, curriculum learning is applied to the text-to-SQL task, accompanied by an automatic curriculum learning solution, including a difficulty scorer and a training scheduler. Experiments show that the framework proposed in this paper is effective.展开更多

The demand for skilled and experienced (approximately 40,000 to 50,000) cybersecurity professionals in Kenya is soaring all-time high. This demand is against the available 1700 certified professionals. Therefore, this paper seeks to bring to fore interventions put in place to address the skill gap through curriculum interventions. In order to get a clear understanding, the paper sought to determine the status of cybersecurity skill gap in Kenya and what universities are doing to address the gap. The paper also sought to propose the way forward to close the skill gap. This is a seminal review paper in the field of cybersecurity in Kenya focusing on institutions of higher learning and the interventions to address the cybersecurity skill gap. This research is significant to the general institutions of higher learning in both private and public universities. Results show that the cybersecurity skill gap is very high in Kenya. Interventions being offered by universities include partnerships with private cybersecurity organizations, offering cybersecurity certification training hackathons, and degree programs. However, it was established that only 13.2% of registered universities that offer cybersecurity degree programs in Kenya. The paper therefore strongly recommends launch of cybersecurity programs at the levels of undergraduate and graduate in many universities. This can therefore be augmented with other interventions such as certifications, hackathons and partnerships. Further research can be conducted to establish factors affecting the launch of cybersecurity programs in institutions of higher learning in Kenya. A further research can also be conducted to determine the effect of supplementary cybersecurity trainings such as hackathons and certifications.展开更多

文摘Objective:The integration of training in theory and practice across the medical education spectrum is being encouraged to increase student understanding and skills in the sciences.This study aimed to determine the deciding factors that drive students'perceived advantages in class to improve precision education and the teaching model.Methods:A mixed strategy of an existing flipped classroom(FC)and a case-based learning(CBL)model was conducted in a medical morphology curriculum for 575 postgraduate students.The subjective learning evaluation of the individuals(learning time,engagement,study interest and concentration,and professional integration)was collected and analyzed after FC-CBL model learning.Results:The results from the general evaluation showed promising results of the medical morphology in the FC-CBL model.Students felt more engaged by instructors in person and benefited in terms of time-saving,flexible arrangements,and professional improvement.Our study contributed to the FC-CBL model in Research Design in postgraduate training in 4 categories:1)advancing a guideline of precision teaching according to individual characteristics;2)revealing whether a learning background is needed for a Research Design course to guide setting up a preliminary course;3)understanding the perceived advantages and their interfaces;and 4)barriers and/or improvement to implement the FC-CBL model in the Research Design class,such as a richer description of e-learning and hands-on practice.Conclusion:Undertaking a FC-CBL combined model could be a useful addition to pedagogy for medical morphology learning in postgraduate training.

文摘Text-to-SQL is the task of translating a natural language query into a structured query language. Existing text-to-SQL approaches focus on improving the model’s architecture while ignoring the relationship between queries and table schemas and the differences in difficulty between examples in the dataset. To tackle these challenges, a two-stage curriculum learning framework for text-to-SQL(TSCL-SQL) is proposed in this paper. To exploit the relationship between the queries and the table schemas, a schema identification pre-training task is proposed to make the model choose the correct table schema from a set of candidates for a specific query. To leverage the differences in difficulty between examples, curriculum learning is applied to the text-to-SQL task, accompanied by an automatic curriculum learning solution, including a difficulty scorer and a training scheduler. Experiments show that the framework proposed in this paper is effective.

文摘The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China has issued three guideline documents to encourage inquiry teaching to help students develop their ability to question,which is a defining feature of critical thinking.Two of the documents have clearly stated that English subject teaching should focus on building students’thinking capacity.Critical thinking is an essential feature of building thinking capacity and a key element of the core competencies the English subject seeks to cultivate.This research measures the performance of students of two high school classes in the exams conducted at the beginning,in the middle,and at the end of the experiment period during which inquiry teaching was applied to enhance students’critical thinking ability.The experiment results show that inquiry teaching can improve students’academic performance in English study and help them better develop their language skills.The implementation of the inquiry design in teaching listening,reading,and writing conforms to the law that governs the development of critical thinking,and the adoption of inquiry teaching can promote the development of critical thinking.

文摘In the wake of increased cybercrime against insufficient cybersecurity professionals, there is an urgent need to bridge the skill-gap. The demand for skilled and experienced (approximately 40,000 to 50,000) cybersecurity professionals in Kenya is soaring all-time high. This demand is against the available 1700 certified professionals. Therefore, this paper seeks to bring to fore interventions put in place to address the skill gap through curriculum interventions. In order to get a clear understanding, the paper sought to determine the status of cybersecurity skill gap in Kenya and what universities are doing to address the gap. The paper also sought to propose the way forward to close the skill gap. This is a seminal review paper in the field of cybersecurity in Kenya focusing on institutions of higher learning and the interventions to address the cybersecurity skill gap. This research is significant to the general institutions of higher learning in both private and public universities. Results show that the cybersecurity skill gap is very high in Kenya. Interventions being offered by universities include partnerships with private cybersecurity organizations, offering cybersecurity certification training hackathons, and degree programs. However, it was established that only 13.2% of registered universities that offer cybersecurity degree programs in Kenya. The paper therefore strongly recommends launch of cybersecurity programs at the levels of undergraduate and graduate in many universities. This can therefore be augmented with other interventions such as certifications, hackathons and partnerships. Further research can be conducted to establish factors affecting the launch of cybersecurity programs in institutions of higher learning in Kenya. A further research can also be conducted to determine the effect of supplementary cybersecurity trainings such as hackathons and certifications.

文摘Curriculum quality is the foundation of education development and the core element of primary education and teaching.It is a key indicator to measure and evaluate the level of educational development in a country and region.Curriculum quality needs to be examined not only from the perspective of the degree of achievement of the preset curriculum goals,but also from the perspective of students’subjective feelings and experiences.Art course is the core service provided by the school for students,and the quality of the course is judged by the acquisition and development of students.At the same time,the value of aesthetic education also calls for the reform and improvement of the fine arts curriculum,which requires the fine arts curriculum in all stages in rural areas to get closer and change in this direction.After the promulgation of art curriculum standards,the fine arts curriculum of rural primary schools should follow high quality standards,which is a process of optimization and iteration of various elements of primary art curriculum.The fine arts curriculum of rural primary schools needs to meet the exploration needs of current students,effectively and appropriately develop excellent local resources while enriching the curriculum content,introduce the essence of regional culture and art,improve the evaluation of curriculum quality,and form a scientific curriculum management system,so as to promote the sustainable development of students.According to this understanding,we can improve the quality of art curriculum in rural primary schools from four dimensions:curriculum objectives,curriculum content,curriculum implementation,and curriculum evaluation.
