Methods: All 28 MNS 2020th graduate students in a university were selected as sub...Objective: To explore graduation practical ability assessment mode of graduate students in nursing (Master of Nursing Specialist, MNS). Methods: All 28 MNS 2020th graduate students in a university were selected as subjects by convenient sampling method, using the improved 4-station objective structured examination (Objective Structured Clinical Examination, OSCE) model. The assessment content included nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, basic nursing operation, specialist nursing operation, theoretical written test and oral test and overall evaluation. And self-made questionnaire was used to evaluate the effect of the assessment model and the improvement of clinical practice ability of graduate students. Results: The overall satisfaction rate of graduation assessment was 89.51%, the overall satisfaction rate of graduation assessment mode and practical ability improvement evaluation was 84.66%, the pass rate of assessment results was 100%, and the excellent rate was 71.42%. Conclusion: The MNS graduation practical ability assessment model has a high degree of satisfaction, objectively evaluates the knowledge, skills, attitudes and emotions of graduate students, promotes the comprehensive quality and ability of graduate students, which is worthy of promotion.展开更多

Computing students face the problem with time and quality of the work while managing their graduation/senior projects.Rapid Application Development(RAD)model is based on continual user involvement for the process of r...Computing students face the problem with time and quality of the work while managing their graduation/senior projects.Rapid Application Development(RAD)model is based on continual user involvement for the process of requirement gathering via prototyping.After each iteration,the developers can validate the requirements that are completed in the iteration.Managing a project with RAD is easier but not flexible.On the other hand,Agile project management techniques focus on flexibility,agility,teamwork and quality based on user stories.Continual user involvement is avoided,which requires extensive maintenance time for fixing iteration and release of the story points.This also makes it necessary to provide onsite training to the users of the application.This research provides the pros and cons of RAD and Agile project management techniques,to help students in deciding the best approach for managing their graduation projects.For the evaluation of these techniques,similar case studies were given to the senior project students(having similar CGPAs)for building similar functionality-based applications.The two projects“Life Organizer”developed and managed using RAD and“Smart Patient Assistant(SPA)”developed and managed through Agile methodology were evaluated against the quality assurance criteria for senior projects.The study found that the project developed with RAD methodology performed 13.33%better in providing extensive and elaborated documentation than the students following the Agile technique.On the other hand,SPA-Agile based project,due to teamwork had 2.5%better implementation than Life Organizer-RAD based project.展开更多

But unless students graduate at an appropriate rate, the university will ultimately be considered ineffective. Students who exit the university without a degree will have their dreams deferred and often struggle to lead a life of any quality. Among those who fail to graduate are a disproportionate number of African Americans and other minorities; this of which must change for a country to thrive and be respected as an exemplary democracy. However, those who do graduate are prepared and financially compensated to lead and make a positive impact in education, politics, science and technology, and human-service areas. This manuscript provides findings from a thorough review of literature on graduation issues and concerns to support development of a framework of tenets to increase graduation rates, especially for African Americans. The objectives of the paper are: to find out how parentsperceive the creativity and innovation of their children through the exhibited works, how the exhibition influencesthe would-be employers to select future employees, and to find out if the exhibition raises the visibility of theuniversity in the public arena. Using a qualitative approach, the study purposively interviewed 15 participants thatincluded five students, three parents, two would-be employers, two administrators, and three lecturers. Thefindings indicate that showcasing student’s creativity and innovation triggers positive reactions amongstakeholders, increases the confidence of the learner, increases the support of parents towards their children,influences the perceptions of the world of work about the fresh graduates, and promotes the values of the university.展开更多
This study examines how individuals'fertility outcomes were affected by the labor market conditions they experienced at graduation.Using data from the Chinese General Social Survey,it finds that poor labor market ...This study examines how individuals'fertility outcomes were affected by the labor market conditions they experienced at graduation.Using data from the Chinese General Social Survey,it finds that poor labor market conditions at graduation delayed individuals'entry into parenthood.Higher unemployment rates at graduation reduced the probability of having at least one child in the survey year for both men and women.The negative fertility effects generally followed a U-shape,reached the maximum around average childbearing ages,and faded out within 15 years after graduation.Low-skilled workers mainly contribute to the negative fertility effects observed in the whole sample.Employment and marital outcomes are also analyzed as potential mechanisms.Estimation results indicate that individuals who experienced poor labor market conditions at graduation delayed marriage and the birth of the first child due to a lower probability of being employed,reduced working hours,and adverse income shocks.The negative long-term fertility effects should be brought to policymakers'attention,especially when China's low fertility issue worsens.Policymakers are expected to create more favorable employment conditions for labor market entrants to encourage fertility and expand the future working-age population.展开更多

These courses consolidate the disciplinary knowledge gained during architectural education while they integrate most of the learning outcomes of a program, which are intended to prepare students for their transition to the profession of architecture. The educational methods of these courses require constant attention, regular review, and continuous development to remain consistent with the changing standards of the profession given the significance of these courses. The problem lies in the diversity and controversy of these methods, thereby implying inconsistency in the best practices. In this study, several questions are raised in terms of the nature of these courses, enrollment criteria, topic selection, learning experience, and assessment methods. This study aims to investigate the best practices of managing, supervising, and assessing architectural graduation projects to provide guidelines for establishing and/or developing these courses. An analytical deductive methodology is adopted. This methodology is supported by a survey of a sample of 105 worldwide academic architects and is structured into four sections, namely, the analysis of the components of graduation projects, the survey and its procedures, the quantitative findings of the survey, and a discussion of the issues and results. The architectural design studio course is generally considered the backbone of any architectural curriculum and follows a particular method of problem solving,which makes it a distinctive course.Graduation projects in...The architectural design studio course is generally considered the backbone of any architectural curriculum and follows a particular method of problem solving,which makes it a distinctive course.Graduation projects in most of the architectural programs are divided into two main phases,namely,research and project phases.Students generate many findings from the research phase that are considered challenges.The research problem emerges when students finish writing the research thesis,and most face difficulty in translating the collected data into actions to engage the initial idea of the project.Therefore,this study aims to high-light the transitional stage between the research and schematic design phases,which is described in this study as the"predesign bridging phase."The goal is to propose a practical strategy for bridging the gap between the research and schematic design phases to facilitate derivation of the design concept from different output variables to enable the creation of a suitable architectural morphological language.The study adopts two research methods.One is proposing a new pedagogical framework and applying it to the architectural graduation design studio at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh,Saudi Arabia.The other is conducting a survey among students to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed framework in helping them bridge the gap between the research and schematic design phases.Descriptive and inferential statistics analysis methods are used to analyze the research data and study the correlation between the reflection of the new applied framework in the predesign bridging phase and the students'satisfaction toward the final projects'product and performance in the final critique.This study ends with a conclusion on how the applied teaching strategies facilitate the project starting point and raises the importance of proposing and testing new assessment strategies that are suitable for each phase in the graduation design studio.展开更多
Over the past two decades the quantity and scope of research drawing on the system of APPRAISAL in SFL has massively expanded.It is reasonable to claim that the majority of these studies have foregrounded the subsyste...Over the past two decades the quantity and scope of research drawing on the system of APPRAISAL in SFL has massively expanded.It is reasonable to claim that the majority of these studies have foregrounded the subsystems of ATTITUDE and ENGAGEMENT.Our aim in contributing to this special issue celebrating two decades of APPRAISAL research is to focus on the subsystem of GRADUATION.We do so in descriptive accounts of three studies exploring the role of GRADUATION in the enactment of social relations and the building of affiliative communities.The intended contribution is two-fold.Together the studies provide an indication of the progressive development and application of this dimension of SFL theory.Specifically they range from analyses of written academic discourse to the semiosis of body language,and studies of English to Khorchin Mongolian.While each study foregrounds the interpersonal function of GRADUATION we do not suggest that one can attend to this in isolation.The thread that unites the studies is an emphasis on the ways in which expressions of GRADUATION always co-instantiate or couple with choices in other systems in the enactment of social relations,with different kinds of coupling differently supporting bonds for affiliation.展开更多

The purpose of the program is for new graduate nu...The study site is a holistic patient-centered organization that has developed a 16-week long orientation program for new graduate nurses entering the hospital setting. The purpose of the program is for new graduate nurses to gain the confidence, competence, and critical thinking skills for providing safe patient care. The issue occurring within the organization is that there is an increasing rise in the number of turnover rates of new graduates leaving the hospital, thus making evaluating the program a necessity to problem-solving. There has been no evaluation of the program in the past five years to reveal why the increase in the recent turnover rates. The data collected during the interview process was coded and categorized into three main sections: organizational, substantive, and theoretical. The evaluator used an organizational category to investigate for board areas or issues within the problem attempting to be solved. The evaluator concluded from the results and findings that the issue, a poor preceptor-preceptee relationship was seen by all stakeholders involved. The literature presented concludes that continuous evaluation of orientation programs is crucial for the professional and personal growth of new graduate nurses in the hospital.展开更多
In architectural education,graduation projects represent the transition from academia to the profession,and they are the courses that encourage architecture students to demonstrate the knowledge acquired and the skill...In architectural education,graduation projects represent the transition from academia to the profession,and they are the courses that encourage architecture students to demonstrate the knowledge acquired and the skills developed throughout the educational program.This study aims to explore the instructors’perspectives on improving the pedagogy of architectural graduation projects.To achieve this aim,this study has adopted a qualitative method,applied analytical and deductive methodologies,and conducted a survey among 44 academic architects from architectural schools worldwide.This paper is structured into three sections.The first section provides an overview of the topic and its current related issues.The second section introduces the survey,its methods,tools,and procedures,and the participants’profiles.The third section presents the qualitative survey findings and their discussion.The conclusions of this study confirm the results of some previous studies.Some conclusions contradict common practices related to graduation projects,but the original approaches have been provided.The importance of this study inherits the relevance of adopting these courses;that is,for educators and employers to assess the extent to which graduates have acquired the competence necessary to practice architecture.展开更多

文摘The architectural design studio course is generally considered the backbone of any architectural curriculum and follows a particular method of problem solving,which makes it a distinctive course.Graduation projects in most of the architectural programs are divided into two main phases,namely,research and project phases.Students generate many findings from the research phase that are considered challenges.The research problem emerges when students finish writing the research thesis,and most face difficulty in translating the collected data into actions to engage the initial idea of the project.Therefore,this study aims to high-light the transitional stage between the research and schematic design phases,which is described in this study as the"predesign bridging phase."The goal is to propose a practical strategy for bridging the gap between the research and schematic design phases to facilitate derivation of the design concept from different output variables to enable the creation of a suitable architectural morphological language.The study adopts two research methods.One is proposing a new pedagogical framework and applying it to the architectural graduation design studio at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh,Saudi Arabia.The other is conducting a survey among students to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed framework in helping them bridge the gap between the research and schematic design phases.Descriptive and inferential statistics analysis methods are used to analyze the research data and study the correlation between the reflection of the new applied framework in the predesign bridging phase and the students'satisfaction toward the final projects'product and performance in the final critique.This study ends with a conclusion on how the applied teaching strategies facilitate the project starting point and raises the importance of proposing and testing new assessment strategies that are suitable for each phase in the graduation design studio.
文摘Over the past two decades the quantity and scope of research drawing on the system of APPRAISAL in SFL has massively expanded.It is reasonable to claim that the majority of these studies have foregrounded the subsystems of ATTITUDE and ENGAGEMENT.Our aim in contributing to this special issue celebrating two decades of APPRAISAL research is to focus on the subsystem of GRADUATION.We do so in descriptive accounts of three studies exploring the role of GRADUATION in the enactment of social relations and the building of affiliative communities.The intended contribution is two-fold.Together the studies provide an indication of the progressive development and application of this dimension of SFL theory.Specifically they range from analyses of written academic discourse to the semiosis of body language,and studies of English to Khorchin Mongolian.While each study foregrounds the interpersonal function of GRADUATION we do not suggest that one can attend to this in isolation.The thread that unites the studies is an emphasis on the ways in which expressions of GRADUATION always co-instantiate or couple with choices in other systems in the enactment of social relations,with different kinds of coupling differently supporting bonds for affiliation.

文摘Aquaculture is a discipline system that focuses on exploring the growth,development,reproduction,aquaculture,and resources of aquatic animals and plants,and their complex relationships.Under the tide of the"high-quality development"strategy,the aquaculture discipline is also facing new opportunities and challenges for transformation,upgrading,and deepening development.Therefore,exploring and practicing an effective path for the high-quality development of graduate education in aquaculture is not only the key to promoting the transformation of graduate education in aquaculture from scale expansion to quality improvement,but also has immeasurable value for implementing the strategy on developing a quality workforce and the strategy of scientific and technological powerhouse.The high-quality development of graduate education in aquaculture can be promoted from the following aspects:optimizing and improving the construction of the graduate education system,focusing on enhancing the quality of high-level talent cultivation,strengthening the overall strength of the graduate supervisor team,actively promoting the adjustment and upgrading of the disciplinary and professional structure,strengthening the construction of resource platforms and deepening the implementation of collaborative education mechanisms,and continuously expanding and deepening the new pattern of international exchange and cooperation.Through the comprehensive promotion of the above paths,the aim is to fully build a model for the improvement and governance of graduate education quality.
文摘The study site is a holistic patient-centered organization that has developed a 16-week long orientation program for new graduate nurses entering the hospital setting. The purpose of the program is for new graduate nurses to gain the confidence, competence, and critical thinking skills for providing safe patient care. The issue occurring within the organization is that there is an increasing rise in the number of turnover rates of new graduates leaving the hospital, thus making evaluating the program a necessity to problem-solving. There has been no evaluation of the program in the past five years to reveal why the increase in the recent turnover rates. The data collected during the interview process was coded and categorized into three main sections: organizational, substantive, and theoretical. The evaluator used an organizational category to investigate for board areas or issues within the problem attempting to be solved. The evaluator concluded from the results and findings that the issue, a poor preceptor-preceptee relationship was seen by all stakeholders involved. The literature presented concludes that continuous evaluation of orientation programs is crucial for the professional and personal growth of new graduate nurses in the hospital.
文摘In architectural education,graduation projects represent the transition from academia to the profession,and they are the courses that encourage architecture students to demonstrate the knowledge acquired and the skills developed throughout the educational program.This study aims to explore the instructors’perspectives on improving the pedagogy of architectural graduation projects.To achieve this aim,this study has adopted a qualitative method,applied analytical and deductive methodologies,and conducted a survey among 44 academic architects from architectural schools worldwide.This paper is structured into three sections.The first section provides an overview of the topic and its current related issues.The second section introduces the survey,its methods,tools,and procedures,and the participants’profiles.The third section presents the qualitative survey findings and their discussion.The conclusions of this study confirm the results of some previous studies.Some conclusions contradict common practices related to graduation projects,but the original approaches have been provided.The importance of this study inherits the relevance of adopting these courses;that is,for educators and employers to assess the extent to which graduates have acquired the competence necessary to practice architecture.

文摘Graduate course teaching plays an irreplaceable role in knowledge mastery,skill enhancement,and quality cultivation of graduate students.This paper addresses current issues in graduate course teaching,such as ambiguous objectives,formulaic content,formalistic operation,and oversimplified evaluation.It proposes corresponding solutions with the hope of steering graduate course teaching back to its original purpose and realizing its true significance.
