The results indicated that the dissolution rate-controlling steps are chemical reaction for olivine and internal diffusion for serpentine. The most influential factor on the dissolution of Mg^2+ from olivine and serpentine was temperature, followed by p H and particle size. A novel method of bioleaching at elevated pH was used in the bioleaching of Jinchuan ore. The results showed that elevated pH could significantly reduce the dissolution of Mg^2+ and acid consumption along with slightly influencing the leaching efficiencies of nickel and cobalt. A model was used to explain the leaching behaviors of high-magnesium nickel sulfide ore in different bioleaching systems. The model suggested that olivine will be depleted eventually, whereas serpentine will remain because of the difference in the rate-controlling steps. Bioleaching at elevated pH is a suitable method for treating high-magnesium nickel sulfide ores.展开更多

The Chinese script-type Mg2Si and matrix microstructure are greatly refined, the formation of τ phase is facilitated and φ phase is restrained when modifier Al-AlP master alloy is added in ZA84 alloy containing Si. The kinetics study of phase selection indicates that there is a critical degree of undercooling of the melt. If the undercooling exceeds the critical value, τ phase preferentially forms while φ phase is restrained; otherwise, φ phase preferentially forms while τ phase is restrained.展开更多

The results show that the microstructure of as-cast Mg-10Zn-5AI-0.1Sb alloy is composed of α-Mg, τ-Mg32(Al, Zn)49, Ф-Al2MgsZn2 and Mg3Sb2 phases. The morphologies of these phases in the Cu-containing alloys change from semi-continuous long strip to black herringbone as well as particle-like shapes with increasing Cu content. When the addition of Cu is over 1.0wt.%, the formation of a new thermally-stable Mg2Cu phase can be observed. The Brinell hardness, room temperature and elevated temperature strengths firstly increase and then decrease as the Cu content increases. Among the Cucontaining alloys, the alloy with the addition of 2.0wt.% Cu exhibits the optimum mechanical properties. Its hardness and strengths at room and elevated temperatures are 79.35 HB, 190 MPa and 160 MPa, which are increased by 9.65%, 21.1% and 14.3%, respectively compared with those of the Cu-free one. After T6 heat treatment, the strengths at room and elevated temperatures are improved by 20% and 10%, respectively compared with those of the ascast alloy. This research results provide a new way for strengthening of magnesium alloys at room and elevated temperatures, and a method of producing thermally-stable Mg-10Zn-5Al based high zinc magnesium alloys.展开更多

Based on the previous work concerning simulation of the nucleation and dendritic growth of primary α-Mg during the solidification of magnesium alloy under HPDC process, an extension was made to the formerly established CA(Cellular Automaton) model with the purpose of modeling the nucleation and growth of Mg-Al eutectic. With a temperature field and solute field obtained during simulation of the primary α-Mg dendrites as the initial condition of the modified CA model, modeling of the Mg-Al eutectic with a divorced morphology was achieved. Moreover, the simulated results were in accordance with the experimental ones regarding the distribution and content of the divorced eutectic. Taking a "cover-plate" die casting with AM60 magnesium alloy as an example, the rapid solidification with a high cooling rate at the surface layer of the casting led to a fine and uniform grain size of primary α-Mg, while the divorced eutectic at the grain boundary revealed a more dispersed and granular morphology. Islands of divorced eutectic were observed at the central region of the casting, due to the existence of ESCs(Externally Solidified Crystals) which contributed to a coarse and non-uniform grain size of primary α-Mg. The volume percentage of the eutectic β-Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase is about 2%-6% in the die casting as a whole. The numerical model established in this study is of great significance to the study of the divorced eutectic in the microstructure of die cast magnesium alloy.展开更多

The thermal properties and morphological structures of the composites were investigated. The XRD results showed the peaks of xGnP and n-MgO, where the intensity of the xGnP peaks became stronger with adding increasing amounts of xGnP into the polymermatrix. In terms of morphology, some agglomeration of particles was observed within the matrix, and the agglomeration decreased the thermal properties of the composites. The nanocomposites showed less thermal stability than the pristine polymer. The reduction in the onset temperature compared to that of neat HDPE was attributed to less adhesion between the fillers and the matrix. In addition, the crystallinity was reduced by the addition of fillers.展开更多

High strain-rate rolling can improve the strength and plasticity of magnesium alloy sheets.Additions of Ca and Y into AZ91 D can refine grains and modify the size and the distribution of the precipitated phases. After solution treatment( 418 ℃ and 20 h) and high strain-rate rolling( heating at420 ℃ for 10 min firstly and then rolling from 10 mm to 2 mm in thickness via a single pass),the tensile strength of the AZ91 D-0. 2%Ca alloy was 1. 3% higher than that of the AZ91 D-0. 4 D%Y alloy, and the tensile strength of the AZ91 D-0. 2%Ca-0. 4%Y alloy was about 8. 3% and 6. 9% higher than those of the AZ91 D-0. 4%Y and the AZ91 D-0. 2%Ca alloys respectively.
文摘Laser-arc hybrid welding at a speed of 6 000 mm/min is carried out on 2 mm thick magnesium alloy AZ61 plateand completely-penetrated butt joints are obtained, lnvestigations of the influence of parameters on weld formation show that Ihe addition of pulsed laser can effctively enhance tlle heat penetrability attd directivity nf the hybrid heat source. Measurements on microstructures and mechanical properties the joint indicate that grain in the.fhsion zone is refined and the grain size is sensitive to the arc current ; the fitsioa zone exhibits the highest hardaess; the tensile strength of the joint reaches 93% of base metal; there is the brittle fracture along the grain bozmdaries in the fusion zone. High-speed camera images exhibit that although the two adjacent laser pulses can not overlap, the recorery relaxation of the concentrated electric arc after laser intlse action can still maintain the continuous welding process.

文摘<正>The high cycle fatigue properties of the die-cast magnesium alloy AZ91D containing 1%mischmetal(mass fraction) at a fatigue ratio of 0.1 were investigated. The difference in the microstructure between the skin and core region of the die-cast magnesium alloy was analyzed by optical microscopy. The mechanical property tests indicate that the values of the tensile strength, elongation and hardness are 185 MPa,1.5%and HBS 70±3 at room temperature, respectively. The p-S-N curve(p=50%) of the die-cast magnesium alloy AZ91D-1%MM is determined and the mean fatigue strength corresponding to 3.8×10~5 cycles is 70 MPa. A linear relation between S and N_p in log scale between 10~3 and 10~6 cycles is written with a equation. The mechanical properties are influenced by the casting defects. The fatigue life of the samples with minor defects is near to the upper limit of the fatigue life data. The fatigue fracture surface of the samples with minor defects possesses the mixed characteristics of quasi-cleavage,lacerated ridge and dimple and it is brittle fracture mode as a whole.
文摘In this study, high-density polyethylene (HDPE)/exfoliated graphite nanoplatelet (xGnP) composites reinforced with a 2 wt.% concentration of nano-magnesia (n-MgO) were fabricated using an injection moulding machine. In addition, the crystallinity was reduced by the addition of fillers.
