In this second part, we thoroughly examine the types of higher-order asymptotic variation of a function obtained by all possible basic algebraic operations on higher-order varying functions. The pertinent proofs are somewhat demanding except when all the involved functions are regularly varying. Next, we give an exposition of three types of exponential variation with an exhaustive list of various asymptotic functional equations satisfied by these functions and detailed results concerning operations on them. Simple applications to integrals of a product and asymptotic behavior of sums are given. The paper concludes with applications of higher-order regular, rapid or exponential variation to asymptotic expansions for an expression of type f(x+r(x)). 展开更多

Motivated by a general theory of finite asymptotic expansions in the real domain for functions f of one real variable, a theory developed in a previous series of papers, we present a detailed survey on the classes of higher-order asymptotically-varying functions where “asymptotically” stands for one of the adverbs “regularly, smoothly, rapidly, exponentially”. For order 1 the theory of regularly-varying functions (with a minimum of regularity such as measurability) is well established and well developed whereas for higher orders involving differentiable functions we encounter different approaches in the literature not linked together, and the cases of rapid or exponential variation, even of order 1, are not systrematically treated. In this semi-expository paper we systematize much scattered matter concerning the pertinent theory of such classes of functions hopefully being of help to those who need these results for various applications. In this paper, we study the relation of the algebraic properties of the higher-order Courant bracket and Dorfman bracket on the direct sum bundle TM⊕∧<sup>p</sup>T*M for an m-dimensional smooth manifold M, and a Lie 2-algebra which is a “categorified” version of a Lie algebra. We prove that the higher-order Courant algebroids give rise to a semistrict Lie 2-algebra, and we prove that the higher-order Dorfman algebroids give rise to a hemistrict Lie 2-algebra. AIM: To study the relation between higher-order aberrations(HOAs) and contrast sensitivity(CS) in normal eyes among a population of laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK) candidates. METHODS: In 6629 eyes of 3315 LASIK candidates, CS were measured under dark environment at the spatial frequencies of 1.5, 3, 6, 12 and 18 cycles per degree(c/d), respectively, using an Optec 6500 visual function tester. Meanwhile, ocular HOAs were measured for a 6.0 mm pupil with a Hartmann-Shack wavefront analyzer. RESULTS: In the study, the subjects with an average spherical equivalent of -4.86±2.07 D were included. HOAs decreased from the third to the sixth order aberrations with predominant aberrations of third-order coma, trefoil and fourth-order spherical aberration. At low and moderate spatial frequencies, CS was negatively correlated with the third-order coma and trefoil aberrations, and decreased with increasing Z_3~1, but increased with increasing Z_3^(-3) and Z_5^(-1). At high spatial frequencies, CS decreased with increasing Z_3^(-3) and increased with increasing Z_5^(-1). CONCLUSION: At a large pupil size of 6.0 mm, the thirdorder aberrations, but not the total aberrations, are the main factors affecting CS. Vertical coma is negatively correlated with CS. 展开更多

At present, Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS) users usually eliminate the influence of ionospheric delay of the first order items by dual-frequency ionosphere-free combination. But there is still residual ionospheric delay error of higher order term. The influence of the higher-order ionospheric corrections on both GPS precision orbit determination and static Precise Point Positioning(PPP) are studied in this paper. The influence of higher-order corrections on GPS precision orbit determination, GPS observations and static PPP are analyzed by neglecting or considering the higher-order ionospheric corrections by using a globally distributed network which is composed of International GNSS Service(IGS) tracking stations. Numerical experimental results show that, the root mean square(RMS) in three dimensions of satellite orbit is 36.6 mme35.5 mm. The maximal second-order ionospheric correction is 9 cm, and the maximal third-order ionospheric correction is 1 cm. Higher-order corrections are influenced by latitude and station distribution. PPP is within 3 mm in the directions of east and up. Furthermore, the impact is mainly visible in the direction of north, showing a southward migration trend, especially at the lower latitudes where the influence value is likely to be bigger than 3 mm. 展开更多

The backstepping design is applied for constructing the controllers for the altitude subsystem.To avoid the explosion of differentiation from backstepping, the higher-order filter dynamic is used for replacing the virtual controller in the backstepping design steps. In the design procedure,the radial basis function(RBF) neural network is investigated to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions in the system dynamic of the hypersonic vehicle. Analyzing comovements and connectedness is critical for providing significant implications for crypto-portfolio risk management.However,most existing research focuses on the lower-order moment nexus(i.e.the return and volatility interactions).For the first time,this study investigates the higher-order moment comovements and risk connectedness among cryptocurrencies before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in both the time and frequency domains.We combine the realized moment measures and wavelet coherence,and the newly proposed time-varying parameter vector autoregression-based frequency connectedness approach(Chatziantoniou et al.in Integration and risk transmission in the market for crude oil a time-varying parameter frequency connectedness approach.Technical report,University of Pretoria,Department of Economics,2021)using intraday high-frequency data.The empirical results demonstrate that the comovement of realized volatility between BTC and other cryp-tocurrencies is stronger than that of the realized skewness,realized kurtosis,and signed jump variation.The comovements among cryptocurrencies are both time-dependent and frequency-dependent.Besides the volatility spillovers,the risk spillovers of high-order moments and jumps are also significant,although their magnitudes vary with moments,making them moment-dependent as well and are lower than volatility connectedness.Frequency connectedness demonstrates that the risk connectedness is mainly transmitted in the short term(1–7 days).Furthermore,the total dynamic connectedness of all realized moments is time-varying and has been significantly affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.Several practical implications are drawn for crypto investors,portfolio managers,regulators,and policymakers in optimizing their investment and risk management tactics. 展开更多
