Within the continuum of natural-to-novel ecosystems−i.e.,from the‘pristine’to the greatly intervened−this paper emphasizes the role of design within highly modified ecosystems in areas of urbanization.It is argued t...Within the continuum of natural-to-novel ecosystems−i.e.,from the‘pristine’to the greatly intervened−this paper emphasizes the role of design within highly modified ecosystems in areas of urbanization.It is argued that,as certain landscapes(particularly urbanized ones)can never be restored to original levels of historical ecological fidelity,they should be treated as both cultural and ecological landscapes.It is then proposed that these anthropogenic landscapes would be ready canvases for designed(or planned)novel ecosystems that could be inculcated with ecological function and systems delivery,yet having profound aesthetic manipulation.Based on this landscape architecture perspective,it is suggested that ecologists may not have fully explored cultural interventions in restoring landscapes,especially within the agency of design.A design strategy for the biological hotspot of Perth in southwestern Australia is then provided as a relevant example of how novel ecosystems can be designed.Without an acute and novel approach to modifying current development practices,Perth’s biodiversity is on track for considerable deterioration.From this exploratory backdrop,it is elaborated how neo-baroque design strategies can be used for structuring ecological systems to create resilient and productive novel ecosystems grounded in a critical and autochthonous aesthetic of botanical complexity.展开更多

Taking the stone reliefs of the Han Dynasty in the ancient Xuzhou region as materials,the paper studied the roofi ng forms of pavilion rooms and halls in the Han Dynasty from the perspective of roof and ridge style an...Taking the stone reliefs of the Han Dynasty in the ancient Xuzhou region as materials,the paper studied the roofi ng forms of pavilion rooms and halls in the Han Dynasty from the perspective of roof and ridge style and its decorative features combined with literature records.The result showed that most of the roofs were straight slopes but the roof ridge diversifi ed.According to the different degree of warping,there are straight without warping,gentle and slight warping and large arc warping etc.,the warping forms had the roof characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture in both north and south China,showing diversifi ed and beautiful morphology.Through the technical treatment of structure and art,the roofi ng created a highly expressive images and eliminated the negative effect of the big lumpish and depressive roofs.Animal images of phoenix and Chiwen(two imaginary birds in ancient Chinese myth,with auspicious implications)in the roof ridge decorations refl ected the development of architectural structure technology and decorative art of Xu-Style gardens in the Han Dynasty.展开更多

First, impact of nature-deficit disorder on children's health; second, basic appeals of children with nature-deficit disorder were sorted out; finally, specialized gardens for children with nature-deficit disorder under the instruction of the above theories were designed.
文摘Taking the stone reliefs of the Han Dynasty in the ancient Xuzhou region as materials,the paper studied the roofi ng forms of pavilion rooms and halls in the Han Dynasty from the perspective of roof and ridge style and its decorative features combined with literature records.The result showed that most of the roofs were straight slopes but the roof ridge diversifi ed.According to the different degree of warping,there are straight without warping,gentle and slight warping and large arc warping etc.,the warping forms had the roof characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture in both north and south China,showing diversifi ed and beautiful morphology.Through the technical treatment of structure and art,the roofi ng created a highly expressive images and eliminated the negative effect of the big lumpish and depressive roofs.Animal images of phoenix and Chiwen(two imaginary birds in ancient Chinese myth,with auspicious implications)in the roof ridge decorations refl ected the development of architectural structure technology and decorative art of Xu-Style gardens in the Han Dynasty.

文摘With the aid of the research method of land landscape,on the basis of briefly analyzing the construction process of regional traditional living environment in Jingzhou,a hierarchical analysis of the regional landscape system was carried out from the aspects of natural landscape,water conservancy construction,agricultural production and urban construction,and the overall pattern of traditional living environment landscape system in Jingzhou was summarized to provide new ideas for the exploration of landscape system.In view of the many problems in the current urban development of Jingzhou,the enlightenment of traditional human settlement experience and wisdom in Jingzhou to the current urban construction of Jingzhou was summarized to provide an example reference for building a living environment that integrates mountains,water and a city.
