This technique constrained the solution (PDS) algorithm, for M-ary phase shift keying (M-PSK) symbols to have a unit magnitude and it was based on coordinate descent iterations where coordinates were the unknown symbol phases. The PDS algorithm, together with a descent local search (also implemented as a version of the PDS algorithm), was used multiple times with different initializations in a proposed multiple phase detector; the solution with the minimum cost was then chosen as the final solution. The simulation results show that for highly loaded multiuser scenarios, the proposed technique has a detection performance that is close to the single-user bound. The results also show that the multiple phase detector allows detection in highly overloaded scenarios and it exhibits near-far resistance. In particular, the detector has a performance that is significantly better, and complexity that is significantly lower, than that of the detector based on semi-definite relaxation.展开更多

In the transmitter, the M spreading codes of each user are generated by circularly shifting the prototype spreading code. A feedback pre-equalizer is employed to process the M-ary MC- CDMA signal before transmitted. The received signal is multiplied by the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) result of the mirror image code of the prototype spreading code, and then demodulated by Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) demodulator. Compared with the conventional M-ary MC-CDMA receiver, the proposed scheme increases bandwidth efficiency, meanwhile, it achieves M-ary despread spectrum and multi-carrier demodulation, which reduces computation complexity remarkably.展开更多

This paper proposes a novel scheme for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communication systems based on M-ary spread spectrum, where only one prototype spreading code is assigned to each user and the codes for different users are orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal with each other. The M spreading codes of each user to represent K bits data are generated by circularly shifting the assigned code and reversing its polarity. The spreading codes generated like that are called as BiOrthogonal Cyclic Codes (BOCCs). At the receiver of the system, a transform domain matched-filter implemented by means of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is employed to despread and demodulate the received signals, which has very low computational complexity. The results of simulation experiments and bit-error performance analysis show that the proposed scheme is practical and very useful in many cases.展开更多

Both linear chirp signals and combined chirp signals are used in this system to reduce the effect of the cross correlation, and simplify the complexity of the system. The optimal scheme of de- signing both linear chirp signals and combined chirp signals is discussed to minimize the value of the cross correlation and obtain a better system performance. Simulation results show that, compared with the binary orthogonal chirp modulation technique, the M-ary chirp modulation technique based on an optimal chirp signal set has a higher data rate with a reasonable bit-error rate (BER) perform- ance under both additive white gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and indoor wireless channel.展开更多

Delivery of 10 Gbit/s M-ary QAM(MQAM) OFDM signals through the 20-km-long single-mode fiber(SMF) is complicated in terms of intensity modulation and direct detection(IM/DD). Using self-homodyne method, the beating of two independent light waves generating the millimeter-wave at the photodetector can be down-converted to baseband in the electrical domain. Meanwhile, three kinds of sub-carrier arrangement schemes are compared and discussed, and the simulation results show that lower peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) can be obtained adopting the adjacent scheme. At bit error rate(BER) of 10^(-3), the receiver sensitivity using 4QAM-OFDM sub-carrier signal is almost enhanced by 4 dB and 9 dB compared with those of 16 QAM-OFDM signal and 64 QAM-OFDM signal.展开更多
