Heat transfer analysis is very important for the prediction and prevention of deposits in oil and water flowlines, which could impede the flow and give rise to huge financial losses. Therefore, a 3D mathematical model of oil-water Newtonian flow under non-isothermal conditions is established to explore the complex mechanisms of the two-phase oil-water transportation and heat transfer in different flowline inclinations. In this work, a non-isothermal two-phase flow model is first modified and then implemented in the InterFoam solver by introducing the energy equation using OpenFOAM® code. The Low Reynolds Number (LRN) k-ε turbulence model is utilized to resolve the turbulence phenomena within the oil and water mixtures. The flow patterns and the local heat transfer coefficients (HTC) for two-phase oil-water flow at different flowlines inclinations (0°, +4°, +7°) are validated by the experimental literature results and the relative errors are also compared. Global sensitivity analysis is then conducted to determine the effect of the different parameters on the performance of the produced two-phase hydrocarbon systems for effective subsea fluid transportation. Thereafter, HTC and flow patterns for oil-water flows at downward inclinations of 4°, and 7° can be predicted by the models. The velocity distribution, pressure gradient, liquid holdup, and temperature variation at the flowline cross-sections are simulated and analyzed in detail. Consequently, the numerical model can be generally applied to compute the global properties of the fluid and other operating parameters that are beneficial in the management of two-phase oil-water transportation.展开更多

Particularly, liquid hydrogen is used in the cooling process of the aeroplane. Further, liquid nitrogen can find applications in cooling equipment or electronic devices, i.e., high temperature superconducting(HTS) cables. So, herein, we have analysed the entropy generation(EG), nonlinear thermal radiation and unsteady(time-dependent) nature of the flow on quadratic combined convective flow over a permeable slender cylinder with diffusions of liquid hydrogen and nitrogen. The governing equations for flow and heat transfer characteristics are expressed in terms of nonlinear coupled partial differential equations. The solutions of these equations are attempted numerically by employing the quasilinearization technique with the implicit finite difference approximation. It is found that EG is minimum for double diffusion(liquid hydrogen and heat diffusion)than triple diffusion(diffusion of liquid hydrogen, nitrogen and heat). The enhancing values of the radiation parameter R_(d) and temperature ratio θ_(w) augment the fluid temperature for steady and unsteady cases as well as the local Nusselt number. Because, the fluid absorbs the heat energy released due to radiation, and in turn releases the heat energy from the cylinder to the surrounding surface.展开更多

Two modified uncertainty models, Set Pair Analysis(SPA) and modified Set Pair Analysis(mSPA), were suggested to assess the regional debris flow hazard. A case study was conducted in seven towns of the Beichuan county,Sichuan Province, China, to test and compare the application of these two models in debris flow hazard assessment. The results showed that mSPA only can fit for value-variables, but not for non value-variable assessment indexes, Furthermore, as for a given assessment index xi, mSPA only considers two cases, namely, when grade value increases with xi and when grade value decreases with xi. Thus, mSPA can not be used for debris flow hazard assessment but SPA is credible for the assessment because there are no limitations when using SPA model to assess the debris flow hazard. Therefore, in this study SPA is proposed for assessing debris flow hazard.展开更多

The results show that, the flow instability is governed by a parameter H which represents a ratio between the axial stretching resistance of fiber and the inertial force of the fluid. An increase of H leads to a raise of the critical Reynolds number, a decrease of corresponding wave number, a slowdown of the decreasing of phase velocity, a growth of the spatial attenuation rate and a diminishment of the peak value of disturbance velocity. Although the unstable region is reduced on the whole, long wave disturbances are susceptible to fibers.展开更多

This analysis is done by solving the dispersion relation, which is calculated through the numerical integration of the terms with different physics. This method is able to reveal the contributions of the different terms to the total growth rate. The diamagnetic effect stabilizes the ideal ballooning modes through inhibiting the contribution of curvature. The toroidal rotation effect is also able to suppress the curvaturedriving term, and the stronger shearing rate leads to a stronger stabilization effect. In addition, through linear analysis using the energy form, the curvature-driving term provides the free energy absorbed by the line-bending term, diamagnetic term and convective term.展开更多

文摘To increase the resilience of farmers’livelihood systems, detailed knowledge of adaptation strategies for dealing with the impacts of climate change is required.Knowledge co-production approach is an adaptation strategy that is considered appropriate in the context of the increasing frequency of disasters caused by climate change.Previous research of knowledge co-production on climate change adaptation in Indonesia is insufficient, particularly at local level,so we examined the flow of climate change adaptation knowledge in the knowledge co-production process through climate field school(CFS)activities in this study. We interviewed 120 people living in Bulukumba Regency,South Sulawesi Province,Indonesia, involving 12 crowds including male and female farmers participated in CFS and not participated in CFS,local government officials, agriculture extension workers, agricultural traders, farmers’family members and neighbors, etc. In brief, the 12 groups of people mainly include two categories of people,i.e.,people involved in CFS activities and outside CFS.We applied descriptive method and Social network analysis(SNA)to determine how knowledge flow in the community network and which groups of actors are important for knowledge flow. The findings of this study reveal that participants in CFS activities convey the knowledge they acquired formally(i.e.,from TV,radio, government, etc.)and informally(i.e.,from market, friends, relatives, etc.)to other actors, especially to their families and neighbors. The results also show that the acquisition and sharing of knowledge facilitate the flow of climate change adaptation knowledge based on knowledge co-operation.In addition, the findings highlight the key role of actors in the knowledge transfer process, and key actors involved in disseminating information about climate change adaptation. To be specific, among all the actors, family member and neighbor of CFS actor are the most common actors in disseminating climate knowledge information and closest to other actors in the network;agricultural trader and family member of CFS actor collaborate most with other actors in the community network;and farmers participated in CFS,including those heads of farmer groups, agricultural extension workers, and local government officials are more willing to contact with other actors in the network. To facilitate the flow of knowledge on climate change adaptation,CFS activities should be conducted regularly and CFS models that fit the situation of farmers’vulnerability to climate change should be developed.

文摘A precise and timely forecast of short-term rail transit passenger flow provides data support for traffic management and operation, assisting rail operators in efficiently allocating resources and timely relieving pressure on passenger safety and operation.First, the passenger flow sequence models in the study are broken down using VMD for noise reduction. The objective environment features are then added to the characteristic factors that affect the passenger flow. The target station serves as an additional spatial feature and is mined concurrently using the KNN algorithm. It is shown that the hybrid model VMD-CLSMT has a higher prediction accuracy,by setting BP,CNN,and LSTM reference experiments. All models’second order prediction effects are superior to their first order effects, showing that the residual network can significantly raise model prediction accuracy.Additionally,it confirms the efficacy of supplementary and objective environmental features.

文摘Polymer flooding in fractured wells has been extensively applied in oilfields to enhance oil recovery. In contrast to water, polymer solution exhibits non-Newtonian and nonlinear behavior such as effects of shear thinning and shear thickening, polymer convection, diffusion, adsorption retention, inaccessible pore volume and reduced effective permeability.Meanwhile, the flux density and fracture conductivity along the hydraulic fracture are generally non-uniform due to the effects of pressure distribution, formation damage, and proppant breakage. In this paper,we present an oil-water two-phase flow model that captures these complex non-Newtonian and nonlinear behavior, and non-uniform fracture characteristics in fractured polymer flooding. The hydraulic fracture is firstly divided into two parts:high-conductivity fracture near the wellbore and low-conductivity fracture in the far-wellbore section.A hybrid grid system, including perpendicular bisection(PEBI)and Cartesian grid,is applied to discrete the partial differential flow equations, and the local grid refinement method is applied in the near-wellbore region to accurately calculate the pressure distribution and shear rate of polymer solution. The combination of polymer behavior characterizations and numerical flow simulations are applied, resulting in the calculation for the distribution of water saturation, polymer concentration and reservoir pressure.Compared with the polymer flooding well with uniform fracture conductivity, this non-uniform fracture conductivity model exhibits the larger pressure difference, and the shorter bilinear flow period due to the decrease of fracture flow ability in the far-wellbore section. The field case of the fall-off test demonstrates that the proposed method characterizes fracture characteristics more accurately, and yields fracture half-lengths that better match engineering reality, enabling a quantitative segmented characterization of the near-wellbore section with high fracture conductivity and the far-wellbore section with low fracture conductivity. The novelty of this paper is the analysis of pressure performances caused by the fracture dynamics and polymer rheology,as well as an analysis method that derives formation and fracture parameters based on the pressure and its derivative curves.

文摘Assessment of debris flow hazards is important for developing measures to mitigate the loss of life and property and to minimize environmental damage. Therefore, in this study SPA is proposed for assessing debris flow hazard.

文摘Different from previous temporal evolution assumption, the spatially growing mode was employed to analyze the linear stability for the channel flow of fiber suspensions. The stability equation applicable to fiber suspensions was established and solutions for a wide range of Reynolds number and angular frequency were given numerically. Although the unstable region is reduced on the whole, long wave disturbances are susceptible to fibers.

文摘The selection of important factors in machine learning-based susceptibility assessments is crucial to obtain reliable susceptibility results. In this study, metaheuristic optimization and feature selection techniques were applied to identify the most important input parameters for mapping debris flow susceptibility in the southern mountain area of Chengde City in Hebei Province,China,by using machine learning algorithms. In total,133 historical debris flow records and 16 related factors were selected. The support vector machine(SVM)was first used as the base classifier, and then a hybrid model was introduced by a two-step process.First, the particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm was employed to select the SVM model hyperparameters.Second, two feature selection algorithms, namely principal component analysis(PCA)and PSO,were integrated into the PSO-based SVM model, which generated the PCA-PSO-SVM and FS-PSO-SVM models, respectively.Three statistical metrics(accuracy, recall, and specificity)and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)were employed to evaluate and validate the performance of the models. The results indicated that the feature selection-based models exhibited the best performance, followed by the PSO-based SVM and SVM models. Moreover, the performance of the FS-PSO-SVM model was better than that of the PCA-PSO-SVM model, showing the highest AUC,accuracy, recall, and specificity values in both the training and testing processes. It was found that the selection of optimal features is crucial to improving the reliability of debris flow susceptibility assessment results. Moreover, the PSO algorithm was found to be not only an effective tool for hyperparameter optimization, but also a useful feature selection algorithm to improve prediction accuracies of debris flow susceptibility by using machine learning algorithms. The high and very high debris flow susceptibility zone appropriately covers 38.01%of the study area, where debris flow may occur under intensive human activities and heavy rainfall events.

文摘The linear analysis of the influence of diamagnetic effect and toroidal rotation at the edge of tokamak plasmas with BOUT++ is discussed in this paper. In addition, through linear analysis using the energy form, the curvature-driving term provides the free energy absorbed by the line-bending term, diamagnetic term and convective term.
文摘Due to the importance of vibration effects on the functional accuracy of mechanical systems, this research aims to develop a precise model of a nonlinearly vibrating single-link mobile flexible manipulator. The manipulator consists of an elastic arm,a rotary motor, and a rigid carrier, and undergoes general in-plane rigid body motion along with elastic transverse deformation. To accurately model the elastic behavior,Timoshenko’s beam theory is used to describe the flexible arm, which accounts for rotary inertia and shear deformation effects.By applying Newton’s second law,the nonlinear governing equations of motion for the manipulator are derived as a coupled system of ordinary differential equations(ODEs)and partial differential equations(PDEs).Then, the assumed mode method(AMM)is used to solve this nonlinear system of governing equations with appropriate shape functions. The assumed modes can be obtained after solving the characteristic equation of a Timoshenko beam with clamped boundary conditions at one end and an attached mass/inertia at the other. In addition, the effect of the transverse vibration of the inextensible arm on its axial behavior is investigated.Despite the axial rigidity, the effect makes the rigid body dynamics invalid for the axial behavior of the arm. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the developed model, and the results are compared with those obtained by the finite element approach. The comparison confirms the validity of the proposed dynamic model for the system.According to the mentioned features, this model can be reliable for investigating the system’s vibrational behavior and implementing vibration control algorithms.
文摘Lunar base construction is a crucial component of the lunar exploration program, and considering the dynamic characteristics of lunar soil is important for moon construction. Therefore, investigating the dynamic properties of lunar soil by establishing a constitutive relationship is critical for providing a theoretical basis for its damage evolution. In this paper,a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)device was used to perform three sets of impact tests under different pressures on a lunar soil simulant geopolymer(LSSG)with sodium silicate(Na_(2)SiO_(3))contents of 1%,3%,5%and 7%.The dynamic stressestrain curves, failure modes, and energy variation rules of LSSG under different pressures were obtained. The equation was modified based on the ZWT viscoelastic constitutive model and was combined with the damage variable. The damage element obeys the Weibull distribution and the constitutive equation that can describe the mechanical properties of LSSG under dynamic loading was obtained. The results demonstrate that the dynamic compressive strength of LSSG has a marked strain-rate strengthening effect.Na_(2)SiO_(3) has both strengthening and deterioration effects on the dynamic compressive strength of LSSG.As Na_(2)SiO_(3) grows, the dynamic compressive strength of LSSG first increases and then decreases. At a fixed air pressure,5%Na_(2)SiO_(3) had the largest dynamic compressive strength, the largest incident energy, the smallest absorbed energy, and the lightest damage. The ZWT equation was modified according to the stress response properties of LSSG and the range of the SHPB strain rate to obtain the constitutive equation of the LSSG,and the model’s correctness was confirmed.
