It was showed in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 125 090401(2020)] that there exist unbounded number of independent Bobs who can share quantum nonlocality with a single Alice by performing sequentially measurements on the Bob's half of the maximally entangled pure two-qubit state. However, from practical perspectives, errors in entanglement generation and noises in quantum measurements will result in the decay of nonlocality in the scenario. In this paper, we analyze the persistency and termination of sharing nonlocality in the noisy scenario. We first obtain the two sufficient conditions under which there exist n independent Bobs who can share nonlocality with a single Alice under noisy measurements and the noisy initial two qubit entangled state. Analyzing the two conditions, we find that the influences on persistency under different kinds of noises can cancel each other out. Furthermore, we describe the change patterns of the maximal nonlocality-sharing number under the influence of different noises. Finally, we extend our investigation to the case of arbitrary finite-dimensional systems. 展开更多

We investigate the dynamical behavior of quantum steering (QS), Bell nonlocality, and entanglement in open quantum systems. We focus on a two-qubit system evolving within the framework of Kossakowski-type quantum dynamical semigroups. Our findings reveal that the measures of quantumness for the asymptotic states rely on the primary parameter of the quantum model. Furthermore, control over these measures can be achieved through a careful selection of these parameters. Our analysis encompasses various cases, including Bell states, Werner states, and Horodecki states, demonstrating that the asymptotic states can exhibit steering, entanglement, and Bell nonlocality. Additionally, we find that these three quantum measures of correlations can withstand the influence of the environment, maintaining their properties even over extended periods. 展开更多

Hardy's theorem on nonlocality has been verified by a series of experiments with two-qubit entangled pure states. However,in this paper we demonstrate the experimental test of the theorem by using the two-photon entangled mixed states. We first investigate the generic logic in Hardy's proof of nonlocality, which can be applied for arbitrary two-qubit mixed polarization entangled states and can be reduced naturally to the well-known logic tested successfully by the previous pure state experiments. Then, the optimized violations of locality for various experimental parameters are delivered by the numerical method. Finally, the logic argued above for testing Hardy's theorem on nonlocality is demonstrated experimentally by using the mixed entangled-photon pairs generated via pumping two type-I BBO crystals. Our experimental results shows that Hardy's proof of nonlocality can also be verified with two-qubit polarization entangled mixed states, with a violation of about 3.4 standard deviations. 展开更多

Unextendible product bases(UPBs)are interesting members of a family of orthogonal product bases. Here,we investigate the construction of 3-qudit UPBs with strong nonlocality.First,a UPB set in C^(3)■C^(3)■C^(3)of size 19 is presented based on the shift UPBs.By mapping the system to a Rubik’s cube,we provide a general method of constructing UPBs in C^(d)■C^(d)■C^(d)of size(d-1)^(3)+2d+5,whose corresponding Rubik’s cube is composed of four parts.Second, for the more general case where the dimensions of parties are different,we extend the classical tile structure to the 3-qudit system and propose the tri-tile structure.By means of this structure,a C^(4)■C^(4)■C^(5)system of size 38 is obtained based on a C^(3)■C^(3)■C^(4)system of size 19.Then,we generalize this approach to the C^(d1)■C^(d2)■C^(d3)system which also consists of four parts. Our research provides a positive answer to the open question raised in by Halder et al.[Phys.Rev.Lett.122040403(2019)],indicating that there do exist UPBs that can exhibit strong quantum nonlocality without entanglement. 展开更多

It is investigated theoretically the amplification of space charge waves (SCWs) due to the negative differential conduc-tivity (NDC) in n-GaN films of submicron thicknesses placed onto a semi-infinite substrate. The influence of the nonlo-cal dependence of the average electron velocity on the electron energy is considered. The simplest nonlocal model is used where the total electron concentration is taken into account. The relaxation momentum and energy frequencies have been calculated. The influence of the nonlocality on NDC results in the decrease of the absolute value of its real part and appearance of the imaginary part. The calculation of the diffusion coefficient leads to essential errors. The simulations of spatial increments of the amplification of SCWs demonstrate that the nonlocality is essential at the fre-quencies f ? 150 GHz, and the amplification is possible up till the frequencies f ? 400 ??? 500 GHz. 展开更多

Dynamics of measurement-induced-nonlocality (MIN) and geometric measure of discord (GD) in the spin-boson model is studied. Analytical results show that for two large classes of initial states, MINs are equal but GDs are different. At the end of evolution, MIN and GD initially stored in the spin system transfer completely to reservoirs. The quantum beats for MIN and GD are also found which are the results of quantum interference between two local non-Markovian dynamics via quantum correlation. 展开更多

This study shows that it is possible to develop a well-posed size-dependent model by considering the effect of both nonlocality and surface energy, and the model can provide another effective way of nanomechanics for nanostructures. For a practical but simple problem (an Euler-Bernoulli beam model under bending),the ill-posed issue of the pure nonlocal integral elasticity can be overcome. Therefore,a well-posed governing equation can be developed for the Euler-Bernoulli beams when considering both the pure nonlocal integral elasticity and surface elasticity.Moreover,closed-form solutions are found for the deflections of clamped-clamped (C-C),simply-supported (S-S) and cantilever (C-F) nano-/micro-beams.The effective elastic moduli are obtained in terms of the closed-form solutions since the transfer of physical quantities in the transition region is an important problem for span-scale modeling methods. The nonlocal integral and surface elasticities are adopted to examine the size-dependence of the effective moduli and deflection of Ag beams. 展开更多

Investigation of the nonlocality evolution of entangled mesoscopic fields under decoherence not only is important for understanding the quantum–classical transition, but also has relevance to quantum communication and quantum computation protocols based on continuous variables.According to previous formulations of Bell inequalities, the system loses nonlocal features far before the disappearance of entanglement. We here construct a new version of Bell signal based on rotated and displaced on–off correlations, with which the Bell inequality is violated as long as there remains entanglement and the field state components keep quasiorthogonal.Consequently, the nonlocal character revealed by our formulation decays much slower compared with those based on previous ones.More importantly, there exists a wide regime where the Bell inequality is restored with previous formulations but remains to be violated based on our correlation operators. 展开更多

The Bell nonlocality is closely related to the foundations of quantum physics and has significant applications to security questions in quantum key distributions. In recent years, the sharing ability of the Bell nonlocality has been extensively studied. The nonlocality of quantum network states is more complex. We first discuss the sharing ability of the simplest bilocality under unilateral or bilateral POVM measurements, and show that the nonlocality sharing ability of network quantum states under unilateral measurements is similar to the Bell nonlocality sharing ability, but different under bilateral measurements. For the star network scenarios,we present for the first time comprehensive results on the nonlocality sharing properties of quantum network states, for which the quantum nonlocality of the network quantum states has a stronger sharing ability than the Bell nonlocality. 展开更多

Bell nonlocality and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen(EPR) steering are very important quantum correlations in composite quantum systems. Bell nonlocality of a bipartite state is observed in some local quantum measurements, while EPR steering was first observed by Schr o¨dinger in the context of famous EPR paradox. In this paper, we discuss the Bell nonlocality and EPR steering of bipartite states, including mathematical definitions and characterizations of these two quantum correlations, the convexity as well as the closedness of the sets of all Bell local states and all EPR unsteerable states, respectively. We also derive sufficient conditions for a state to be steerable; these conditions imply that Alice can steer Bob's state whenever Alice has two POV measurements such that the sets of Bob's normalized conditional states become two disjoint sets of pure states, or whenever she has one POV measurement such that Bob's normalized conditional states become a linearly independent set of pure states. 展开更多

Measurement-induced nonlocality(MIN),a quantum correlation measure for bipartite systems,is an indicator of maximal global effects due to locally invariant von Neumann projective measurements. It is originally defined as the maximal square of the Hilbert-Schmidt norm of the difference between pre-and post-measurement states. In this article,we propose a new form of MIN based on affinity. This quantity satisfies all the criteria of a bona fide measure of quantum correlation measures. This quantity is evaluated for both arbitrary pure and 2×n dimensional(qubit-qudit)mixed states. The operational meaning of the proposed quantity is interpreted in terms of the interferometric power of the quantum state. We apply these results on two-qubit mixed states, such as the Werner, isotropic and Bell diagonal states. 展开更多

Various nonlinear phenomena such as bifurcations and chaos in the responses of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)are recognized as being major contributors to the inaccuracy and instability of nanoscale mechanical systems. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to predict the nonlinear dynamic behavior of a CNT conveying viscousfluid and supported on a nonlinear elastic foundation. The proposed model is based on nonlocal Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. The Galerkin method and perturbation analysis are used to discretize the partial differential equation of motion and obtain the frequency-response equation, respectively.A detailed parametric study is reported into how the nonlocal parameter, foundation coefficients, fluid viscosity, and amplitude and frequency of the external force influence the nonlinear dynamics of the system.Subharmonic,quasi-periodic,and chaotic behaviors and hardening nonlinearity are revealed by means of the vibration time histories,frequency-response curves, bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, power spectra, and Poincarémaps. Also, the results show that it is possible to eliminate irregular motion in the whole range of external force amplitude by selecting appropriate parameters. 展开更多

In this paper, using relative entropy, we study monogamous properties of measurement-induced nonlocality based on relative entropy. Depending on different measurement sides, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for two types of monogamy inequalities. By the concept of nonlocality monogamy score, we find a necessary condition of the vanished nonlocality monogamy score for arbitrary three-party states. In addition, two types of necessary and sufficient conditions of the vanished nonlocality monogamy scores are obtained for any pure states. As an application, we show that measurement-induced nonlocality based on relative entropy can be viewed as a "nonlocality witness" to distinguish generalized GHZ states from the generalized W states. 展开更多

Nonlocality, as an essential, subtle and intriguing aspect of nature, has many different facets and manifestations. In quantum information theory, nonlocality is usually defined, characterized and quantified in the framework of entanglement and violation of certain Bell inequalities. An exciting phenomenon concerning entanglement-related nonlocality is the superactivation, symbolized as " 0 + 0 > 0", which means that two systems, while do not possess nonlocality individually by themselves, may exhibit nonlocality when combined together in an independent fashion. In this work, we explore nonlocality from the measurement perspective and reveal the superactivation of measurement-induced nonlocality(MIN): When two bipartite states with vanishing MIN are combined together, the tensorizing state may possess non-zero MIN. Implications and applications are discussed. 展开更多

No instrument is able to measure directly the quantum entanglement of a system. However, both theory and experiment, following the well-known Bell inequality, reveal the existence of the entanglement phenomenon in quantum mechanics. To examine the characterization of quantum entanglement, here we present a two-site cavity system, in which each cavity contains a Λ-type three-level atom and the two sites are identical and coupled with each other. We investigate and calculate the bipartite entanglement entropy of the system for the ground states. For photons of different types, corresponding to the two ground states of the atom, we investigate the correlations and violation of the Bell inequality. 展开更多

Quantum entanglement, has been acknowledged as a precious resource due to its inherent nonclassical correla-tions between subsystems. These quantum correlations have the potential for many quantum processes,includ-ing canonical ones:quantum cryptography, quantum teleportation, and dense coding. To exploit the advantages of quantum entanglement, two essential premises are required,i.e.,to prepare high-quality entanglement and characterize quality level of prepared entanglement. Thus far, quantum entanglement can be produced in various quantum systems;however,it appears that this new resource is complex and difficult to characterize. The standard methods to characterize multipartite entanglement,e.g.,entanglement witness, state tomography,or quantum state verification, require full knowledge of the Hilbert space dimension and precise calibration of measurement devices, which are usually difficult to acquire in experiment. The most radical way to overcome these problems is to detect entanglement solely based on the Bell-like correlations of measurement outcomes collected in the exper-iment,namely,device-independent characterization of entanglement. This article reviews the recently developed device-independent methods to characterize entanglement, including self-testing and device-independent certi-fication of entanglement. These approaches can be widely applied in kinds of quantum information processing, especially for those with security demands. 展开更多

Nonlocal correlation plays an important role in device independent quantum information processing. The stan-dard Bell nonlocality has been well studied with single local hidden variables, however the nonlocal correlations in general networks with several independent quantum sources and distant observers have been far less explored. Here,by using three independent entangled photon sources and recently constructed nonlinear Bell inequalities,we experimentally test the nonlocal correlations in the network scenario with different topologies. The violation of the inequalities can be obtained simply with separate measurements, which is much more favourable from the practical point of view. Our experiment results show a violation as 0.7779±0.0093 for the star network, and 0.7303±0.0024 for the chain network.Furthermore,we demonstrate that more measurement settings for each observer can bound more information against an eavesdropper. 展开更多
