The recommender system has been widely used in various Internet applications due to its high efficiency in filtering information, helping users to quickly find personalized resources from thousands of information, thereby alleviating the problem of information overload. In addition, due to its great use value, many new researches have been proposed in the field of recommender systems in recent years, but there are not many works on online course recommendation at present. Therefore, this paper aims to sort out the existing cutting-edge recommendation algorithms and the work related to online course recommendation, so as to provide a comprehensive overview of the online course recommender system. Academic dishonesty is a disturbing issue in higher education that has been worsening over the years, especially with the appearance of the internet and the e-learning education. This new technology exposes students t...Academic dishonesty is a disturbing issue in higher education that has been worsening over the years, especially with the appearance of the internet and the e-learning education. This new technology exposes students to the opportunity of using online bank exams and term papers and increases their tendency to cheat. This study investigates student academic dishonesty in the context of traditional and distance-learning courses in higher education. Data from 1,365 students enrolled in academic institutes in the U.S.A and Israel were surveyed to assess their personality and their willingness to commit various acts of academic misconduct. The findings indicate that in both countries dishonest behaviors are greater in face-to-face courses than in online courses. In addition, both American and Israeli students identified with the personality trait of Agreeableness showed a negative correlation with academic dishonesty. Furthermore, Israeli students identified with the personality traits of Conscientiousness and Emotional Stability demonstrated a negative correlation with academic dishonesty. In contrast, the personality trait of Extraversion among American students was found in a positive correlation with academic misconduct. Implications for further research are discussed.展开更多

Assignments are an important tool to evaluate learners’learning effectiveness in online courses.Clarifying assignment design strategies is of great significance for promoting the quality construction of online educat...Assignments are an important tool to evaluate learners’learning effectiveness in online courses.Clarifying assignment design strategies is of great significance for promoting the quality construction of online education courses.This paper uses Bloom’s taxonomy framework revised by Anderson and Krathwohl(2001)as a reference to label the knowledge types and cognitive dimensions in the assignment context of eight courses.Combined with a literature review,a discipline–objective–schedule(DOS)three-dimensional analysis framework based on the achievement of curriculum objectives,the design of chapter schedule,and the heterogeneity of disciplines is constructed to conduct an in-depth analysis of online course assignment design strategies.The research findings show that the online course assignment design strategy has an obvious curriculum objective orientation,follows the gradual learning rule,and presents typical disciplinary differences.The study finds that the current assignment design of online courses has three issues:first,a mismatch between assignment design and curriculum objectives;second,a lack of diversity in assignment formats;and third,insufficient comprehensiveness of some subject assignments.Based on the above discussions,corresponding suggestions are provided.展开更多

Massive open online courses(MOOCs)have become a way of online learning across the world in the past few years.However,the extremely high dropout rate has brought many challenges to the development of online learning.M...Massive open online courses(MOOCs)have become a way of online learning across the world in the past few years.However,the extremely high dropout rate has brought many challenges to the development of online learning.Most of the current methods have low accuracy and poor generalization ability when dealing with high-dimensional dropout features.They focus on the analysis of the learning score and check result of online course,but neglect the phased student behaviors.Besides,the status of student participation at a given moment is necessarily impacted by the prior status of learning.To address these issues,this paper has proposed an ensemble learning model for early dropout prediction(ELM-EDP)that integrates attention-based document representation as a vector(A-Doc2vec),feature learning of course difficulty,and weighted soft voting ensemble with heterogeneous classifiers(WSV-HC).First,A-Doc2vec is proposed to learn sequence features of student behaviors of watching lecture videos and completing course assignments.It also captures the relationship between courses and videos.Then,a feature learning method is proposed to reduce the interference caused by the differences of course difficulty on the dropout prediction.Finally,WSV-HC is proposed to highlight the benefits of integration strategies of boosting and bagging.Experiments on the MOOCCube2020 dataset show that the high accuracy of our ELM-EDP has better results on Accuracy,Precision,Recall,and F1.展开更多

In the paper, the authors present their experience and results related to the design and management of the on-line course "Development of e-learning resources based on the EUCIP (The European Certification of Inform...In the paper, the authors present their experience and results related to the design and management of the on-line course "Development of e-learning resources based on the EUCIP (The European Certification of Informatics Professionals) certification scheme", which was organized under the auspices of the international Leonardo da Vinci project Sloop2desc (Sharing learning objects in an open perspective for development of European skills and competences). The course was primarily aimed at teachers of informatics. Out of 64 participants that applied for the course, slightly less than 50% managed to reach the last course module. In line with other research, the authors' experience showed that in order to minimize participants' drop-out rate, a sustained communication flow between tutors and participants was necessary and specific assignments had to be provided by the tutors, along with guidance. The authors expect the participants who successfully finished the on-line course to become a some kind of ambassadors for the introduction of the EUCIP scheme in Slovenia.展开更多

B/S client communication protocol is constructed in network transport layer, and the scene simulation model of English Online Course Teaching is established, online English teaching platform designed in this paper is constructed based on the sensing layer, network layer and application layer. A data processing center is constructed in the B/S structure and the network environment, Open Core kernel is used to realize the optimization of teaching model of English online courses, improve the teaching platform of online courses, and improve the scene adaptation ability. The test results show that the platform for online English teaching has better independent learning ability, the effectiveness of online English course teaching is better, test objects have higher satisfaction with English Online Course Teaching.

文摘In the context of the new media age,the emergence and development of finance and economics courses along with online course resources have greatly enriched the presentation of teaching resources in colleges and universities.However,subjected to the flawed design and poor promotion of ideological and political contents,which are less popular,online finance and economics courses often do not reflect the meaning well or maximize the application of the courses’ideological and political reform.This paper explores the dilemma and reasons for the promotion of the courses’ideological and political content,in hope to provide suggestions for the design and promotion of ideological and political content in online finance and economics courses in colleges and universities.

文摘Massive open online courses(MOOCs)have become a way of online learning across the world in the past few years.However,the extremely high dropout rate has brought many challenges to the development of online learning.Most of the current methods have low accuracy and poor generalization ability when dealing with high-dimensional dropout features.They focus on the analysis of the learning score and check result of online course,but neglect the phased student behaviors.Besides,the status of student participation at a given moment is necessarily impacted by the prior status of learning.To address these issues,this paper has proposed an ensemble learning model for early dropout prediction(ELM-EDP)that integrates attention-based document representation as a vector(A-Doc2vec),feature learning of course difficulty,and weighted soft voting ensemble with heterogeneous classifiers(WSV-HC).First,A-Doc2vec is proposed to learn sequence features of student behaviors of watching lecture videos and completing course assignments.It also captures the relationship between courses and videos.Then,a feature learning method is proposed to reduce the interference caused by the differences of course difficulty on the dropout prediction.Finally,WSV-HC is proposed to highlight the benefits of integration strategies of boosting and bagging.Experiments on the MOOCCube2020 dataset show that the high accuracy of our ELM-EDP has better results on Accuracy,Precision,Recall,and F1.

文摘In the context of the COVID-19 outbreak,online teaching has spread rapidly.However,the existing research on moral and self-cultivation teaching methods for online courses remains inadequate.This paper proposes an“independence+integration”moral and self-cultivation teaching method for online courses.The method divides the targets of moral and self-cultivation teaching into independent and integrated ones,and fits them both explicitly and implicitly into the online teaching of specialized courses in higher education.When this method was employed to teach engineering mechanics to industrial design students at a college in China,it effectively increased the students’acceptance of online courses as well as their understanding of moral and self-cultivation knowledge and the course itself,and improved the quality of online teaching.The method provides a new way of thinking about online moral and self-cultivation teaching.
文摘In the paper, the authors present their experience and results related to the design and management of the on-line course "Development of e-learning resources based on the EUCIP (The European Certification of Informatics Professionals) certification scheme", which was organized under the auspices of the international Leonardo da Vinci project Sloop2desc (Sharing learning objects in an open perspective for development of European skills and competences). The course was primarily aimed at teachers of informatics. Out of 64 participants that applied for the course, slightly less than 50% managed to reach the last course module. In line with other research, the authors' experience showed that in order to minimize participants' drop-out rate, a sustained communication flow between tutors and participants was necessary and specific assignments had to be provided by the tutors, along with guidance. The authors expect the participants who successfully finished the on-line course to become a some kind of ambassadors for the introduction of the EUCIP scheme in Slovenia.

文摘This paper explores the design,implementation,and evaluation of the Integrated English 3 blended course,which integrates online learning through massive open online courses(MOOCs)and face-to-face classroom instruction.Guided by the production-oriented approach,the course aims to improve students’language proficiency and intercultural communication skills.It employs a variety of teaching methods,including online self-study,task-based learning,and collaborative group work,to foster student engagement and promote language output.The study highlights key elements of course construction,such as the use of MOOCs,the design of smart classrooms,and the development of a comprehensive assessment system that combines formative and summative evaluations.The results suggest that the blended teaching model enhances students’language skills while promoting critical thinking and cultural awareness.The course also emphasizes the importance of developing digital literacy among both students and teachers to effectively utilize online resources.
