Based on an algebraically Rossby solitary waves evolution model, namely an extended(2+1)-dimensional Boussinesq equation,we firstly introduced a special transformation and utilized the Hirota method, which enable us to obtain multi-complexiton solutions and explore the interaction among the solutions. These wave functions are then employed to infer the influence of background flow on the propagation of Rossby waves,as well as the characteristics of propagation in multi-wave running processes.Additionally,we generated stereogram drawings and projection figures to visually represent these solutions. The dynamical behavior of these solutions is thoroughly examined through analytical and graphical analyses.Furthermore,we investigated the influence of the generalized beta effect and the Coriolis parameter on the evolution of Rossby waves. 展开更多

In the generalized continuum mechanics(GCM)theory framework, asymmetric wave equations encompass the characteristic scale parameters of the medium, accounting for microstructure interactions. This study integrates two theoretical branches of the GCM,the modified couple stress theory(M-CST)and the one-parameter second-strain-gradient theory,to form a novel asymmetric wave equation in a unified framework.Numerical modeling of the asymmetric wave equation in a unified framework accurately describes subsurface structures with vital implications for subsequent seismic wave inversion and imaging endeavors. However, employing finite-difference(FD)methods for numerical modeling may introduce numerical dispersion, adversely affecting the accuracy of numerical modeling. The design of an optimal FD operator is crucial for enhancing the accuracy of numerical modeling and emphasizing the scale effects. Therefore, this study devises a hybrid scheme called the dung beetle optimization(DBO)algorithm with a simulated annealing(SA)algorithm, denoted as the SA-based hybrid DBO(SDBO)algorithm. An FD operator optimization method under the SDBO algorithm was developed and applied to the numerical modeling of asymmetric wave equations in a unified framework.Integrating the DBO and SA algorithms mitigates the risk of convergence to a local extreme. The numerical dispersion outcomes underscore that the proposed SDBO algorithm yields FD operators with precision errors constrained to 0.5‱while encompassing a broader spectrum coverage. This result confirms the efficacy of the SDBO algorithm.Ultimately, the numerical modeling results demonstrate that the new FD method based on the SDBO algorithm effectively suppresses numerical dispersion and enhances the accuracy of elastic wave numerical modeling, thereby accentuating scale effects. This result is significant for extracting wavefield perturbations induced by complex microstructures in the medium and the analysis of scale effects. 展开更多

In this paper,we establish global classical solutions of semilinear wave equations with small compact supported initial data posed on the product space R^(3)×T.The semilinear nonlinearity is assumed to be of the cubic form. The main ingredient here is the establishment of the L^(2)-L^(∞)decay estimates and the energy estimates for the linear problem, which are adapted to the wave equation on the product space. The proof is based on the Fourier mode decomposition of the solution with respect to the periodic direction, the scaling technique, and the combination of the decay estimates and the energy estimates. 展开更多

For the (2 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear dispersive Boussinesq equation, by using the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems to study its corresponding traveling wave system, the bifurcations and phase portraits of the regular system are obtained. Under different parametric conditions, various sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of analytical and non-analytical solutions of the singular system are given by using singular traveling wave theory. For certain special cases, some explicit and exact parametric representations of traveling wave solutions are derived such as analytical periodic waves and non-analytical periodic cusp waves. Further, two-dimensional wave plots of analytical periodic solutions and non-analytical periodic cusp wave solutions are drawn to visualize the dynamics of the equation. 展开更多

In this paper, we study the propagation and its failure to propagate (pinning) of a travelling wave in a Nagumo type equation, an equation that describes impulse propagation in nerve axons that also models population growth with Allee effect. An analytical solution is derived for the traveling wave and the work is extended to a discrete formulation with a piecewise linear reaction function. We propose an operator splitting numerical scheme to solve the equation and demonstrate that the wave either propagates or gets pinned based on how the spatial mesh is chosen. 展开更多

Adopting the classical theory of hydrocodes, the constitutive relations of concretes are separated into an equation of state(EoS)which describes the volumetric behavior of concrete material and a strength model which depicts the shear properties of concrete. The experiments on the EoS of concrete is always challenging due to the technical difficulties and equipment limitations, especially for the specimen size effect on the EoS.Although some researchers investigate the shock properties of concretes by fly-plate impact tests, the specimens used in their tests are usually in one size.In this paper, the fly-plate impact tests on concrete specimens with different sizes are performed to investigate the size effect on the shock properties of concrete materials. The mechanical background of the size effect on the shock properties are revealed, which is related to the lateral rarefaction effect and the deviatoric stress produced in the specimen.According to the tests results, the modified EoS considering the size effect on the shock properties of concrete are proposed, which the bulk modulus of concrete is unpredicted by up to 20% if size effects are not accounted for. 展开更多

We consider the singular Riemann problem for the rectilinear isentropic compressible Euler equations with discontinuous flux, more specifically, for pressureless flow on the left and polytropic flow on the right separated by a discontinuity x=x(t).We prove that this problem admits global Radon measure solutions for all kinds of initial data. The over-compressing condition on the discontinuity x=x(t)is not enough to ensure the uniqueness of the solution. However, there is a unique piecewise smooth solution if one proposes a slip condition on the right-side of the curve x=x(t)+0,in addition to the full adhesion condition on its left-side.As an application,we study a free piston problem with the piston in a tube surrounded initially by uniform pressureless flow and a polytropic gas.In particular,we obtain the existence of a piecewise smooth solution for the motion of the piston between a vacuum and a polytropic gas. This indicates that the singular Riemann problem looks like a control problem in the sense that one could adjust the condition on the discontinuity of the flux to obtain the desired flow field. 展开更多

Integrable systems play a crucial role in physics and mathematics. In particular, the traditional(1+1)-dimensional and(2+1)-dimensional integrable systems have received significant attention due to the rarity of integrable systems in higher dimensions.Recent studies have shown that abundant higher-dimensional integrable systems can be constructed from(1+1)-dimensional integrable systems by using a deformation algorithm. Here we establish a new(2+1)-dimensional Chen-Lee-Liu(C-L-L)equation using the deformation algorithm from the(1+1)-dimensional C-L-L equation. The new system is integrable with its Lax pair obtained by applying the deformation algorithm to that of the(1+1)-dimension.It is challenging to obtain the exact solutions for the new integrable system because the new system combines both the original C-L-L equation and its reciprocal transformation. The traveling wave solutions are derived in implicit function expression, and some asymmetry peakon solutions are found. 展开更多

We study the acoustomagnetoelectric (AME) effect in two-dimensional graphene with an energy bandgap using the semiclassical Boltzmann transport equation within the hypersound regime, (where represents the acoustic wavenumber and is the mean free path of the electron). The Boltzmann transport equation and other relevant equations were solved analytically to obtain an expression for the AME current density, consisting of longitudinal and Hall components. Our numerical results indicate that both components of the AME current densities display oscillatory behaviour. Furthermore, geometric resonances and Weiss oscillations were each defined using the relationship between the current density and Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) frequency and the inverse of the applied magnetic field, respectively. Our results show that the AME current density of bandgap graphene, which can be controlled to suit a particular electronic device application, is smaller than that of (gapless) graphene and is therefore, more suited for nanophotonic device applications. 展开更多

The equations could model physical phenomena arising in fluid dynamics, fibre optics or electron plasmas. The main result is that any small perturbation to the solution remains small for all time. Schrödinger equations are very common equations in physics and mathematics for nonlinear physics to model the dynamics of wave propagation in waveguides such as power lines, atomic chains, optical fibers, and even in quantum mechanics. But all these equations are most often studied without worrying about what would happen if this equation were maintained, that is to say, had a second member synonymous with an external force. It is true that on a physical level, such equations can be considered as describing the generation of waves on a waveguide using an external force. However, the in-depth analysis of this aspect is not at the center of our reflection in this article, but for us, it is a question of proposing exact solutions to this type of equation and above all proposing the general form of the external force so that the obtaining exact solutions is possible. 展开更多

Presence of centripetal force field in space shall cause time dilation of any clock at rest therein. Therefore, duration of unit of time determined by any clock in such field is not constant but varies with location of the clock in the field. This means that speed of light in vacuo in centripetal force field is not and cannot be a true physical constant but a function of location in such field because definition of c involves a unit of time and duration of that time unit varies with location in such field. However, classical Schrödinger equation assumes a prior the constancy of c in field, even though this may not be the case. Therefore, it is necessary to revise the classical equation in order to comply with the law of mass-energy equivalence of Einstein hence time dilation in centripetal force field. 展开更多

Innovative definitions of the electric and magnetic diffusivities through conducting mediums and innovative diffusion equations of the electric charges and magnetic flux are verified in this article. Such innovations depend on the analogy of the governing laws of diffusion of the thermal, electrical, and magnetic energies and newly defined natures of the electric charges and magnetic flux as energy, or as electromagnetic waves, that have electric and magnetic potentials. The introduced diffusion equations of the electric charges and magnetic flux involve Laplacian operator and the introduced diffusivities. Both equations are applied to determine the electric and magnetic fields in conductors as the heat diffusion equation which is applied to determine the thermal field in steady and unsteady heat diffusion conditions. The use of electric networks for experimental modeling of thermal networks represents sufficient proof of similarity of the diffusion equations of both fields. By analysis of the diffusion phenomena of the three considered modes of energy transfer;the rates of flow of these energies are found to be directly proportional to the gradient of their volumetric concentration, or density, and the proportionality constants in such relations are the diffusivity of each energy. Such analysis leads also to find proportionality relations between the potentials of such energies and their volumetric concentrations. Validity of the introduced diffusion equations is verified by correspondence their solutions to the measurement results of the electric and magnetic fields in microwave ovens. 展开更多

Research on seismic anisotropy and attenuation plays a significant role in exploration geophysics. To enhance the imaging quality for complicated structures, we develop several effective improvements for anisotropic attenuation effects in reverse-time migration (Q-RTM) on surface and vertical seismic profiling (VSP) acquisition geometries. First, to suppress pseudo-shear wave artifact and numerical instability of the commonly used anisotropic pseudo-acoustic wave equations, an optimized pure P-wave dispersion relation is derived and the corresponding pure-mode wave equation is solved by combining the finite-difference and Possion methods. Second, a simplified anisotropic pure-mode visco-acoustic wave equation (PVAWE) based on standard linear solid model is established. Third, a time-dispersion correlation strategy is applied to improve the modeling accuracy. Fourth, we extend a target-oriented scheme to anisotropic attenuated modeling and imaging. Instead of the conventional wavefield modeling and RTM, the proposed approach can extract available wavefield information near the target regions and produce high imaging resolution for target structures. Last, both anisotropic surface and VSP Q-RTMs are executed by combining optimized PVAWE, time-dispersion correlation and target-oriented algorithm. Modeling examples demonstrate the advantages of our schemes. Moreover, our modified Q-compensated imaging workflow can be regarded as a supplement to the classical anisotropic RTM. 展开更多
