According to international standard plant quarantine measures and principle risk analysis(ISPM No.11),a risk assessment was carried out for Passalora sequoiae through geographical distribution,possibility of colonization,probability of diffusion,economic importance and difficulty in risk management.Results show that P.sequoiae has a greater risk of introduction and diffusion,and it has distributed in parts of China.It is suggested that P.sequoiae should be added to the list of forest dangerous pests in China.Besides,porting departments should focus on the pathogen on imported host seedlings like Cryptomeria. 展开更多

Based on the complex network theory,this paper studies the systemic financial risks in China’s financial market.According to the industry classification of the China Securities Regulatory Commission in 2012,the daily closing prices of 45 listed financial institutions are collected and the daily return rates of each financial institution are measured according to the logarithmic return rate calculation formula.In this paper,the risk spillover value ΔCoVaR is used to measure the contribution degree of each financial institution to systemic risk.Finally,the relationship between the risk spillover valueΔCoVaR and the node topology index of the risk transmission network is investigated by using a regression model,and some policy suggestions are put forward based on the regression results. 展开更多

This paper proposes a risk analysis framework for substation structures based on reliability methods.Even though several risk assessment approaches have been developed for buildings,detailed risk analysis procedures for infrastructure components have been lacking in prior studies.The proposed framework is showcased by its application to a system of interconnected structures at a power substation in Tehran.Finite element models of structures are developed and validated in accordance with previous experiments.The uncertainties in the material,mass,and geometric properties of structures are described by random variables that are input to the finite element model.An artificial ground motion model is employed to comprehensively consider uncertainty in ground motion.Monte Carlo sampling is subsequently conducted on the library of probabilistic models.The analysis resulted in the loss distribution in the life cycle of structures.Additionally,the loss associated with six earthquake scenarios having specific magnitudes and return periods is computed.The application provides insight into the most vulnerable equipment in the considered system.Furthermore,introduced risk measures can guide stakeholders to make risk-based decisions to optimize design or prioritize a retrofit of infrastructure components under conditions of uncertainty. 展开更多

Distribution networks denote important public infrastructure necessary for people’s livelihoods.However,extreme natural disasters,such as earthquakes,typhoons,and mudslides,severely threaten the safe and stable operation of distribution networks and power supplies needed for daily life.Therefore,considering the requirements for distribution network disaster prevention and mitigation,there is an urgent need for in-depth research on risk assessment methods of distribution networks under extreme natural disaster conditions.This paper accessesmultisource data,presents the data quality improvement methods of distribution networks,and conducts data-driven active fault diagnosis and disaster damage analysis and evaluation using data-driven theory.Furthermore,the paper realizes real-time,accurate access to distribution network disaster information.The proposed approach performs an accurate and rapid assessment of cross-sectional risk through case study.The minimal average annual outage time can be reduced to 3 h/a in the ring network through case study.The approach proposed in this paper can provide technical support to the further improvement of the ability of distribution networks to cope with extreme natural disasters. 展开更多

The soil environment is a reservoir of nutrients as well as pollutants,and because of this,most of our food items are ladened with lots of pollutants ranging from fertilizers,pesticides,herbicides to heavy metals(HM).The consumption of these contaminated food items has serious implication on the health and economic status of the populace.These pollutants have also been implicated in causing several problems to plants.This study investigated heavy metals and health risk analysis of arable farmlands in selected Local Government Areas(Donga,Ussa and Takum)of Taraba state Nigeria.Samples obtained were processed and the concentration of following heavy metals(Pb,Cd,Cr,Hg,and As)were determined using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry(AAS).The results showed that Chromium had a very high concentration across all the study areas with values ranging from 1.40mg/kg to 2.30 mg/kg.The concentration of Cadmium and Arsenic were moderate,with values ranging from 0.03mg/kg to 0.08mg/kg while Lead and Mercury had the lowest concentration of less than 0.03mg/kg across the three LGAs respectively.The following ecological and health risk assessments parameters;Target Cancer Risk or Target Hazard Quotient(THQ),Hazard Index(HI)and Estimated Daily Intake(EDI)were determined to assess the carcinogenic health risks by consuming produce from such farmlands.Ussa LGA recorded the highest concentration of heavy metals,with the highest health risk index followed by Takum whereas Donga had the lowest risk factors from the analysis.The study showed bioaccumulation of toxicants from the soil to crops and grazing plants across the study areas which was as a result of chemical farming that polluted and contaminated the soil,thus posing risk to the populace. 展开更多

Buried natural gas pipelines are vulnerable to external corrosion because they are encased in a soil environment for a long time.Identifying the causes of external corrosion and taking specific maintenance measures is essential.In this work,a risk analysis and maintenance decision-making model for natural gas pipelines with external corrosion is proposed based on a Bayesian network.A fault tree model is first employed to identify the causes of external corrosion.The Bayesian network for risk analysis is determined accordingly.The maintenance strategies are then inserted into the Bayesian network to show a reduction of the risk.The costs of maintenance strategies and the reduced risk after maintenance are combined in an optimization function to build a decision-making model.Because of the limitations of historical data,some of the parameters in the Bayesian network are obtained from a probabilistic estimation model,which combines expert experience and fuzzy set theory.Finally,a case study is carried out to verify the feasibility of the maintenance decision model.This indicates that the method proposed in this work can be used to provide effective maintenance schemes for different pipeline external corrosion scenarios and to reduce the possible losses caused by external corrosion. 展开更多

Bayesian Belief Network(BBN) is a good tool for analyzing uncertain consequences, but it is difficult to produce precise network structure and conditional probability table.In this paper,we built up network structure by Delphi method for conditional probability table learning,and learn update probability table and nodes’confidence levels continuously according to the application cases, which made the evaluation network have learning abilities, and evaluate the software development risk of organization more accurately.This paper also introduces EM algorithm, which will enhance the ability to produce hidden nodes caused by variant software projects. 展开更多

The unusual deep-water environment and low gas density make it easy to meet the conditions of hydrate generation during deep-water gas wells testing period, such as low temperature and high pressure, especially under the testing conditions, for instance, near mud line, surface chock line, low gas generating rate and surface shut-in. Wherefore, in view of all the operational modes during testing period (clean-out, variable rate flow, downhole and surface shut-in), based on temperature field of the whole flow range and phase equilibrium condition of hydrate, predicting method of hydrate generation zone is published;by taking enthalpy as the object of study, temperature calculation model increases the accuracy of temperature prediction;by integration of bore holes and surface lines, predicting plate of hydrate generation in the whole flow range is published. During flow period, the generating condition of hydrate is affected by rate of flow, and the lower the rate of flow is, the wider the hydrate generation zone is;during the stage of shut-in and initial flow, if pressure of strings is higher and temperature is lower, risk of hydrate generation will be greater and hydrate generation zone will be larger, so relevant actions should be taken to restrain hydrate generation. 展开更多

Coastal inundation results in many human casualties and significant economic losses.In this study,an inundation model with an unstructured mesh was developed using the ADvanced CIRCulation(ADCIRC)and Simulating WAves Nearshore(SWAN)models to simulate 43 inundation events from 1998 to 2018.A combined wind-pressure field derived from the assimilation windpressure model was used to drive the coupled ADCIRC-SWAN model.On the basis of the model results,a sensitivity study of the influence of land reclamation on coastal inundation was conducted.The results of the study showed that coastline changes caused by reclamation significantly influence the distribution of coastal inundation,particularly in areas where narrow waterways,bays,and peninsulas are newly formed.Combining the extreme inundation events calculated using the Gumbel and Weibull distributions,the 10-year,50-year,100-year,and 200-year return coastal inundations were obtained for the Pearl River Estuary in China.The risk of coastal inundation was analyzed according to the probability of the inundation depth exceeding 1 m.A hazard grade zoning map was drawn to guide disaster relief and mitigation in the reclamation area. 展开更多

The study is a cross-sectional design assessment of the likelihood, frequency and severity of hazards associated with underwater operations in the Niger Delta. Five oil and gas companies were used for this study selected by a purposive method given that they had the highest number of workers involved in underwater operations. A sample size of 418 was computed to which the questionnaires were administered with response rate of 95.93%. Data analyses were carried out to cover descriptive statistics, analysis of variance and Pearsonal correlation coefficients. The 4 by 4 risk assessment matrix for the likelihood and consequences showed that 8 out of 20 underwater hazards were categorized as having very high risk according to their risk ratings. The eight hazards categorized based on their risk IDs were H01, H03, H04, H08, H10, H11, H12, and H15. The 4 by 4 risk matrix for frequency and consequences revealed that two hazards (Piracy & bandit attack/kidnapping (H01) and Other main vessels/heavy object dropping or falling load/collision (H08)) were identified to be of very high risk. 展开更多

This article presents a brief introduction to the problems associated with high-head spillways and describes a procedure that takes into account the flow near the chute surface where the phenomenon occurs, instead of the mean flow. Application of risk analysis methodology presented can be used to estimate whether there is a possibility of cavitation or there is necessity to determine where the first aereator should be located. The advantage of the procedure herein presented takes into consideration an important new variable, such as the surface roughness. In addition, emphasis should be placed first on the need to investigate other high-head dams which climate change may have exposed them to this kind of damages. Second, there is a need to make measurement in prototype. In this paper, we emphasize on classification of different types of risk factors and find a simple and effective way to calculate the risk exposure.. The study uses rough set method to classify and judge the safety attributes related to investment policy. The method which based on intelligent knowledge accusation provides an innovative way for risk analysis.
