Improving maternal health is one of the Sustainable Development Goals.Hospital service areas(HSAs),which contain most hospitalization behaviors at the local scale,are crucial for health care planning.However,little at...Improving maternal health is one of the Sustainable Development Goals.Hospital service areas(HSAs),which contain most hospitalization behaviors at the local scale,are crucial for health care planning.However,little attention has been given to HSAs for maternal care and the hierarchy structure.Considering Hubei,central China,as a case study,this study aims to fill these gaps by developing a method for delineating hierarchical HSAs for maternal care using a network optimization approach.The approach is driven by actual patient flow data and has an explicit objective to maximize the modularity.It also establishes the hierarchical structure of maternal care HSAs,which is fundamental for the planning of hierarchical maternal care and referral systems.In our case study,45 secondary HSAs and 22tertiary HSAs are delineated to achieve maximal modularity.The HSAs perform well in terms of indices such as the Localization Index and Market Share Index.Furthermore,there is a complementary relationship between secondary and tertiary hospitals,which suggests the need for referral system planning.This study can provide evidence for the validity of the HSA and the planning of maternal care HSAs in China.It also provides transferable methods for planning hierarchical HSAs in other developing countries.展开更多

Its main purpose, also one of the ta...Township and Village Health Services Integration Management(TVHSIM) is an essential form of China's two-tiered health service integration plan at the township and village level. Its main purpose, also one of the target goals in China's new healthcare reform, is to gradually integrate rural health services and appropriately allocate rural health resources. This study aims to assess the village doctors' satisfaction with the TVHSIM and provide scientific base to further improve TVHSIM. A cross-sectional study was carried out in which 162 village doctors from Qinghai, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang in western China were interviewed. Descriptive analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Spearman rank correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the difference and relevance between village doctors' personal characteristics and their satisfaction with TVHSIM and six subscales. Village doctors with different years of practice, social insurance status and essential medical knowledge level showed statistically significant differences in their satisfaction levels(all P〈0.05). Age(P〈0.05) and years of practice(P〈0.01) were negatively correlated with Drug and Medical Device Management and Financing Management. Essential medical knowledge level(P〈0.05) was negatively correlated with Operations Management as well. However, social insurance status(P〈0.05) was positively correlated with Human Resources Management and Drug and Medical Device management. Gender, age and years of practice respectively had significant influence on village doctors' satisfaction with TVHSIM(P〈0.01). In conclusion, in order to further promote TVHSIM policy in rural China, a well-rounded social insurance model for village doctors is urgently needed. In addition, the development of TVHSIM is regionally imbalanced. Efficient and effective measures aiming at rationalizing gender and age structure and enhancing essential medical training should be carefully considered.展开更多

It is the only basin amongst 43 other basins of the country that supplies water t...The Densu basin is a coastal river catchment in southern Ghana and a typical rural community like all other rural settlements in Ghana. It is the only basin amongst 43 other basins of the country that supplies water to two regional capitals of Ghana, namely, the capital city of Ghana, Accra and Eastern regional capital, Koforidua. The qualities of these water resources vary naturally and widely depending on climate, season, and the geology of the bedrock, as well as anthropogenic activities. The primary aim of this research is to determine data requirements for efficient and cost-effective development of a Geographic Information System (GIS) to map and detect the extent of the sources of the watersheds and how to protect the environment for continuous supply of water. Among the Nine catchment areas, only one catchment WSA_05 (Koforidua Township) was determined to have a very high risk of being vulnerable and therefore required urgency to protect environment for continuous supply of water. Four catchment areas WSA_02 (Weija Dam), WSA_03 (Apedwa-Asafo), WSA_06 (Suhum) and WSA_09 (New Tafo) were determined to have a high risk of being affected and therefore there was the need to protect the environment for continuous supply of water. Ghana as a country will have to take a responsible step in protecting its water body and its environment to enable continuous and sustainable supply of water to its citizens. This study therefore reveals the state of the water users and how urgent it environment needs to be protected.展开更多

Most studies focus on the provision of ecosystem ...Ecosystem services are transferred from the service-providing area to the service-benefiting area to satisfy human needs through some substance, energy or information. Most studies focus on the provision of ecosystem services and few focus on the demands on ecosystem services and their spatial distribution. Here, on the basis of the flow of water conservation services from the providing area to the benefiting area, the benefits produced by water conservation service are investigated and the benefiting areas are identified. The results indicate that in 2010 the water conservation service of key ecological function areas provided irrigation water for 1.67×105 km2 of paddy fields and 1.01×105 km2 irrigated fields, domestic water to urban residents and industrial water to factories, mines and enterprises of 2.64×104 km2 urban construction land and domestic water to rural residents across 3.73×104 km2 of rural settlements and formed 6.64×104 km2 of inland water which can be used for freshwater aquaculture, downstream regions comprise 1.31×104 km of navigable river, which can be used for inland shipping. The benefit areas of the key function areas located in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River are greater and more influential benefit areas. To protect these key function areas, more attention should be paid to the maintenance and improvement of water conservation. Some benefit areas have access to the benefits produced by water conservation of nine key ecological function areas and cover 17% of the overall benefit area and the length of their channels benefited accounts for 7%. Multiple key ecological function areas should be taken into account equally in the formulation of ecological compensation policies. These research findings can serve as a scientific basis for the compensated use of and ecological compensation for ecosystem services provided by key ecological function areas.展开更多
Public medical facilities that are closely related to the health of residents have been recognised as one of the most crucial elements in sustainable urban planning.For the sake of social equality of medical services(...Public medical facilities that are closely related to the health of residents have been recognised as one of the most crucial elements in sustainable urban planning.For the sake of social equality of medical services(especially for emergency medical conditions),the spatial distributions of medical resources need to be accurately measured and continuously optimized.This study presents an effective method to examine night emergency hospital visit and analyse its spatiotemporal characteristics using float car data(FCD).By extracting the hospital service areas,the two-step floating catchment area(2SFCA)methodology was improved to calculate hospital accessibility.Then,the balance between hospital accessibility and population density was analysed.In addition,we investigated the relationship between individual hospital choice preferences and hospital level and analysed several factors that affect individual choices.These results help us understand the special requirements and need of emergency hospital travel in cities and identify areas where medical resources are scarce.They can be used as guidance for urban hospital planning and construction.And the approach of hospital access behaviour investigation and the improved 2SFCA method can also provide insights for other activity-based travel behaviour research.展开更多
In this research,we analyzed the delivery service areas of restaurants,customer satisfaction,and restaurant sales of urban restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.We obtained the datasets on food ordering options and...In this research,we analyzed the delivery service areas of restaurants,customer satisfaction,and restaurant sales of urban restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.We obtained the datasets on food ordering options and restaurant rankings based on Google Maps,Open Street Map,and widely known online food order applications in Iran.Based on this analysis we further modeled suitable areas for future extension of restaurants.We analyzed the online food order data of restaurants’sales and food delivery reports for 1050 restaurants in the city of Tabriz.We collected and analyzed data on the restaurant locations,the number of food orders for each restaurant,and the number of customers and their locations.Our results revealed that the spatial dimension of the newly emerging food delivery areas is of utmost importance for the success of restaurants.This indicates that an optimal location is not longer only dependent on factors like population density and competitors in the direct vicinity but on the services density even from more distant competitors.The results indicate that an optimized spatial distribution of the restaurants together with efficient quality in services can contribute to optimistic urban development.展开更多

It consists of 14 satellites, including 5 satellites in Geostationary Orbit (GEO), 5 satellites in Inclined Geosynchronous Orbit (IGSO), and 4 satellites in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). In this paper, its basic navigation and positioning performance are evaluated preliminarily by the real data collected in Beijing, including satellite visibility, Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) value, the precision of code and carrier phase measurements, the accuracy of single point positioning and differential position- ing and ambiguity resolution (AR) performance, which are also compared with those of GPS. It is shown that the precision of BDS code and carrier phase measurements are about 33 cm and 2 mm, respectively, which are comparable to those of GPS, and the accuracy of BDS single point positioning has satisfied the design requirement. The real-time kinematic positioning is also feasible by BDS alolae in the opening condition, since its fixed rate and reliability of single-epoch dual-frequency AR is comparable to those of GPS. The accuracy of BDS carrier phase differential positioning is better than 1 cm for a very short baseline of 4.2 m and 3 cm for a short baseline of 8.2 km, which is on the same level with that of GPS. For the combined BDS and GPS, the fixed rate and reliability of single-epoch AR and the positioning accuracy are improved significantly. The accu- racy of BDS/GPS carrier phase differential positioning is about 35 and 20 % better than that of GPS for two short baseline tests in this study. The accuracy of BDS code differential positioning is better than 2.5 m. However it is worse than that of GPS, which may result from large code multipath errors of BDS GEO satellite measurements.展开更多
