Objective:To investigate the characteristics of'Jin Shang',a specialized term in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theory,in young adults with chronic neck pain(CNP)and investigated the correlation of'Jin S...Objective:To investigate the characteristics of'Jin Shang',a specialized term in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)theory,in young adults with chronic neck pain(CNP)and investigated the correlation of'Jin Shang'with pain intensity and living disabilities using cross-section study.Methods:The thickness of the bilateral splenius capitis and semispinalis capitis were measured by ultrasound imaging(USI)as the objective performance of'Jin Shang'.The visual analogue scale(VAS)and Northwick Park Questionnaire(NPQ)were used to assess pain intensity and living disability.The Student's t test was used to investigate the difference in neck extensor muscle(NEM)thickness between CNP patients and healthy controls.Pearson's correlation and multiple linear regression were applied to investigate the relationship between NEM thickness,pain intensity and disability.Results:Fifty-nine young adult CNP patients and 16 healthy controls were recruited in this study,in accordance with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.The student's t test showed that in CNP patients,the thickness of the semispinalis capitis during isometric contraction was significantly thinner than that of healthy controls(P=.04).Pearson's correlation analysis also revealed significant relationships between NEM thickness,VAS,and NPQ,while multiple linear regression showed that the thickness of the NEM in CNP patients was a significant predictor of pain intensity and disability.Conclusion:There was a significant difference in the thickness of the NEM in young adults with CNP when compared to healthy controls.Alterations in the NEM thickness in both rest and contraction are moderately related to neck pain and living disabilities.Our results investigated the characteristics of'Jin Shang'using USI and revealed a correlation between'Jin Shang'and CNP symptoms,which demonstrates that NEM plays an important role in CNP.展开更多

Scholars have long hypothesized that silver can offer an independent proxy to characterize lead minerals. The summary of silver distribution associated with Shang and Western Zhou bronzes in this paper reveals an important difference between the south(Sanxingdui, Hanzhong, Jinsha, Panlongcheng, Xin’gan) and the Central Plains. Correlating silver with lead content as well as with the isotopic signature indicates that south China and the Central Plains had different lead sources during the late Shang period, and also that the highly radiogenic and common lead used at Anyang come from geochemical environments which cannot be distinguished by the level of silver.展开更多

This paper quantifies a decomposition analysis of energy-related CO2 emissions in the industrial sectors of Shanghai over the period 1994-2007.The Log-Mean Divisia Index(LMDI) method is applied to this study in terms ...This paper quantifies a decomposition analysis of energy-related CO2 emissions in the industrial sectors of Shanghai over the period 1994-2007.The Log-Mean Divisia Index(LMDI) method is applied to this study in terms of six factors:labor force,labor mobility,gross labor productivity,energy intensity,fuel mix,and emission coefficient.In addition,the decoupling effect between industrial economic growth and CO2 emissions is analyzed to evaluate CO2 mitigation strategies for Shanghai.The results show that all labor productivity has the largest positive effect on CO2 emission changes in the industrial sectors,whereas labor mobility and energy intensity are the main components for decreasing CO2 emissions.Other factors have different effects on CO2 mitigation in different sub-periods.Although a relative decoupling of industrial CO2 emissions from the economic growth in Shanghai has been found,Shanghai should keep pace with the industrial CO2 emissions reduction by implementing low-carbon technology.These results have important policy implications:Plan C is the reasonable choice for Shanghai.展开更多

A large amount of Shang Dynasty bronzes, excavated from Jiangxi, Hubei and Henan Provinces, have become a focus of world attention. However,the Sha-ng Dynasty center was located at Zhenzhou and Allyang city areas, Henan Province, where no large copper ores have been found so far. Therefore, where did the huge ore material for casting the bronzes come from? It is an unsettled question paid attention by the archaeologists and scicntists. 35 Shang Dynasty bronzes and 21 copper and lead ore materials aged in the Shang-Zhou Dynasty, the Spring-Autumn Period and the modern time, have been measured by the use of mass spectrometry.Based upon lead isotopic ratios, the ore material for casting the bronzes with the middle isotopic ratios of 207Pb/206Pb ranged in 0.8～0.9 could come from the ancient copper mine of Tongling, Jiangxi Province and Tong Lushan, Hubei Province and that with the high isotopic ratios (＞0.9) could be from the northern part of the Shang Empire, called "Gongfang" in the historical records, e.g. today’s Hebei and LiaoningProvinces. The others with the low isotopic ratios (＜0.8) might originate from poly-metalic deposits, with the high isotopic ratios of 238U/204 Pb in the ore flux or in the magma.展开更多
