Our results show that when coupled to the single-mode field, the atom in appropriate initial states can not only generate obvious entropy squeezing but also keep in the optimal squeezing state, while passing through the amplitude damping channel, the atom can generate entropy squeezing under the control of the weak measurement. Besides, it is proved again that as a measurement method for atomic squeezing, the entropy squeezing is precise and effective. The influences of the moving velocity and initial states of the three-level atom on the entropy squeezing are discussed. The results show that, the entropy squeezing properties of the three-level atom depend on its initial state, moving velocity, and the type. A stationary three-level atom can not obtain a steady entropy squeezing whatever initial conditions are chosen, while a moving three-level atom can achieve a steady and optimal entropy squeezing through choosing higher velocity and appropriate initial state. Our result provides a simple method for preparing squeezing resources with ultra-low quantum noise of the three-level atomic system without additional any complex techniques.展开更多

In bottle microresonators, the highly nondegenerated WGMs are spatially well-separated along the long-axis direction and provide mode selection according to their axial mode numbers. In this work, we use a loss-engineering approach to suppress the higher-order WGMs and demonstrate single-mode lasing emission in small polymer bottle microresonators. The fiber tapers are not only used to couple pump light into the bottle microresonators to excite the WGMs but also to bring optical losses that are induced from the diameter mismatch between fiber tapers and microresonators. By adjusting the coupling positions, the diameters of fiber tapers, and the coupling angles, single fundamental-mode lasing is efficiently generated with side-mode suppression factors over 15 dB. Our loss-engineering approach is convenient just by moving the fiber taper and may findpromising applications in miniature tunable single-mode lasers and sensors.展开更多

It is theoretically shown that these universal spectral characteristics arise from the synergistic effect of two different kinds of nonlinearities: deformation of the cavity shape and mode interaction due to a lasing medium. Our theory is based on the linear stability analysis of stationary states for the Maxwell–Bloch equations and accounts for single-mode lasing phenomena observed in real and numerical experiments of fully chaotic 2D microcavitylasers.展开更多

A general master equation is advanced and, on the basis of the steadystate photon-number distribution, the variation of the Mandel factor with the relative pumping parameter is calculated. Our results show thai photon statistics for a single-mode laser have a novel feature, i.e. the photon-number distribution alternates, in general, between superPoisson distribution and sub-Poisson distribution, and approaches the usual Poisson distribution when the pumping parameter tends to infinite. The dependence of photon statistics on detuning, coupling coefficient, absorption coefficient, thermal mean photon-number and coupling time is discussed.展开更多

文摘We present the design of a diffractive grating structure and get the optimal parameters which can achieve more than 75%coupling efficiency(CE) between single-mode fiber and silicon-on-insulator(SOI) waveguide through 2D finite-different time-domain(FDTD) simulation. The proposed architecture has a uniform structure with no bottom reflection element or silicon overlay. The structure, including grating couplers, adiabatic tapers and interconnection waveguides can be fabricated on the SOI waveguide with only a single electron-beam lithography(ICP) step, which is CMOS-compatible.A relatively high coupling efficiency of 47.2%was obtained at a wavelength of 1562 nm.
文摘A high power continuous-wave single-frequency green fiber laser by second-harmonic generation of a Yb-doped fiber amplifier(YDFA)is developed.A linearly polarized single-mode fiber amplifier produces a 60 W infrared laser at 1064 nm with a 103 W incident diode pump laser at 976 nm,corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 58%.An external bow-tie enhancement cavity incorporating a noncritically phase-matched lithium triborate crystal is employed for second-harmonic generation.A 33.2 W laser at 532 nm is obtained with a 45 W incident 1064 nm fundamental laser, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of 74%.

文摘Miniaturized lasers with multicolor output and high spectral purity are indispensable for various ultracompact photonic devices. Here,we propose an optically reconfigurable Förster resonance energy transfer(FRET)process to realize broadband switchable single-mode lasing based on in situ activation of acceptors. The stoichiometric ratio of the donor and acceptor in the ready-made microstructures could be modulated readily by precisely activating the acceptors through a photoisomerization process, leading to a reconstructed FRET process to achieve dynamically switchable lasing.Furthermore,dual-color switchable single-mode lasing was realized by selectively constructing the FRET process in an identical coupled microdisks system. These results advance a comprehensive understanding of excited-state dynamics in organic composite material systems, thereby providing new ideas for the rational design of miniaturized photonic materials and devices with desired performances.

文摘We report an index-coupled distributed feedback quantum cascade laser by employing an equivalent phase shift(EPS) of quarter-wave integrated with a distributed Bragg reflector(DBR) at λ~5.03 μm. The EPS is fabricated through extending one sampling period by 50% in the center of a sampled Bragg grating. The key EPS and DBR pattern are fabricated by conventional holographic exposure combined with the optical photolithography technology, which leads to improved flexibility, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness. Stable single-mode emission can be obtained by changing the injection current or heat sink temperature even under the condition of large driving pulse width.
文摘For a fully chaotic two-dimensional(2D) microcavity laser, we present a theory that guarantees both the existence of a stable single-mode lasing state and the nonexistence of a stable multimode lasing state, under the assumptions that the cavity size is much larger than the wavelength and the external pumping power is sufficiently large. It is theoretically shown that these universal spectral characteristics arise from the synergistic effect of two different kinds of nonlinearities: deformation of the cavity shape and mode interaction due to a lasing medium. Our theory is based on the linear stability analysis of stationary states for the Maxwell–Bloch equations and accounts for single-mode lasing phenomena observed in real and numerical experiments of fully chaotic 2D microcavitylasers.
文摘Using the quantum electrodynamical theory the photon statistics has been established for a single-mode laser. The dependence of photon statistics on detuning, coupling coefficient, absorption coefficient, thermal mean photon-number and coupling time is discussed.
