Thus, this study aimed to the production of mango beverage and mango flavored beverage fortified with chia seeds;evaluate the chemical properties of chia seeds and study the effect of adding carboxymethyl cellulose, xanthan gum and low acyl gellan gum at the concentrations of 0.05% and 0.1% on the stability of suspension chia seeds in beverage during storage at ambient temperature for six months. Viscosity, color, zeta potential, suspension of seeds and organoleptic properties were evaluated. Results showed that chia seeds were rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fiber. The addition of 0.05% gellan gum led to improved appearance attributes and the highest stability of suspension of chia seeds for six months, and was the sample which scored highest for overall acceptability compared to the other samples of beverages. Results indicated that using chia seeds with the addition of 0.05% low acyl gellan gum led to the production of fortified mango beverage and mango flavored beverage with high stability for six months.展开更多

In the present work, suspension stability (i.e. ξ-potential) of nanoparticles was studied by measuring pH as a function of grinding time in the wet milling process. It was found that after a certain time in an attritor mill, there is no further size reduction and the average product particle size increases monotonically. One of the reasons is that the production of submicron particles leads to more particle-particle interactions and consequently pH of the suspension decreases with grinding time. Usually pH value is related to suspension stability and it can be enhanced by addition of NaOH solution. The maximum negative ξ-potential of -51.2 mV was obtained at pH of 12 for silica. The higher the ξ-potential with the same polarity, higher will be the electrostatic repulsion between the particles. Hence, the maximum electrostatic repulsion force was maintained by the adjustment ofpH value in wet milling. The experiments were conducted at different pH conditions which were maintained constant throughout the experiments and nanosized particles were obtained consequently.展开更多

As2O3-1oaded PLGA nanocapsules (As2O3-PLGANCs) were prepared by double emulsion-solvent evaporation method and were optimized by univariate analysis in combination with orthogonal experimental according to several factors. The optimized As2O3-PLGA NCs presented suitable physical stability, favorable size of (200.2± 10.6) nm (PDI=0.117 ±0.008), spherical shape, and high encapsulation efficiency (92.48%± 2.14%). The in vitro suspension stability of the NCs was excellent. The release of As2O3 from the NCs showed pH responsive release characteristics. The NCs can be efficiently taken up by SMMC-7721 cell and showed excellent antitumor efficacy against SMMC-7721 cell line. Then, As2O3-PLGA NCs could be considered as a promising formulation for the pH dependent release of As2O3 in cancer cells and enhance the anti-solid tumor effects of As2O3.展开更多

Currently avail- able superdisintegrant particles have average sizes of approximately 5-130 μm, which are too big for drug nanocomposite applications. Hence, production of stable superdisintegrant suspensions with less than 5 μm particles is desirable. Here, we explore the preparation of colloidal suspensions of anionic and nonionic superdisintegrants using a wet stirred media mill and assess their physical stability. Sodium starch glycolate (SSG) and crospovidone (CP) were selected as representative anionic and nonionic superdisintegrants, and hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were used as a steric stabilizer and a wetting agent/stabilizer, respectively. Particle sizing, scanning electron microscopy, and zeta potential measurements were used to characterize the suspensions. Colloidal superdisintegrant suspensions were prepared reproducibly. The extensive particle breakage was attributed to the swelling-induced softening in water. SSG suspensions were stable even in the absence of stabilizers, whereas CP suspensions required HPC-SDS for minimizing particle aggregation. These findings were explained by the higher absolute (negative) zeta potential of the suspensions of the anionic superdisintegrant (SSG) as compared with those of the nonionic superdisintegrant (CP).展开更多
