To measure the complex moduli and three parameters of standard linear solid, the forced vibration technique of beam is successfully used for PCL and PMMA specimens. The dynamical characteristics of viscoelastic Timoshenko beams, especially the damping properties, are derived from a considerable number of numerical computations. The analyses show that the viscosity of materials has great influence on dynamical characteristics of structures, especially on damping, and the standard linear solid model is the better one for describing the dynamic behavior of high viscous materials.展开更多

Characteristic viscosity of HA derivative had the largest value in 12 h, which decreased with increasing of PEG molecular weight, bat its aqueous dynamic viscosity increased with increment of PEG molecular weight. Meanwhile, we tested dynamic mechanic properties of HA derivative by 3ARES3 Rheometer at 25℃ to study viscoelastic changes and to compare change difference from viscosity to elasticity with the changes of vibration frequency between unmodified HA and HA derivative. Change from low vibrated freqnency to high one of solution resulted in change from viscosity to elasticity of solution. In conclusion, as to the rheological properties, structure- modified HA derivative meets the requirement of biomaterial .展开更多

A flexible drive unit(FDU) is developed, whose features are guided by steel rope, increasing force by the movable pulley group, modular, convenient and flexible. Dynamics model for controller is deduced based on the constitutive equation of viscoelasticity. Controller is designed for position control and is based on the viscoelasticity dynamics model compensation control strategy proposed. The control system is based on the TURBO PMAC multi-axis motion control card.Prototype loading experiments and velocity experiments results show that the FDU can reach 2 Hz with no load and the max speed of 30(°)/s. The FDU has the capability of the load torque 11.2 N·m and the speed of 24(°)/s simultaneously, and the frequency response is 1.3 Hz. The FDU can be used to be the pitch joint of hip for biped robot whose walking speed is 0.144 km/h theoretically.展开更多

Yin and Ghoneim constructed a prototype of a Flexible-Matrix-Composite (FMC) body pump with a very high volumetric efficiency or pumping potential (the relative volume reduction due to a relative input stroke). The high volumetric efficiency is attributed to the geometry of the pump’s structure (hyperboloid) as well as the high negative effective Poisson’s ratio of the 3-layer [θ/β/θ] flexible-matrix-composite (carbon/polyurethane) laminate adopted for the body of the pump. However, the power efficiency of the pump was not evaluated. It is the objective of the current paper to obtain an estimate of the power efficiency of the pump. The viscoelastic properties of the 3-layer FMC (carbon/polyurethane) laminate are evaluated experimentally using the Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA) as well as analytically by applying the correspondence principle together with the micro-mechanics approach. In order to obtain an estimate of the power efficiency of the FMC body pump, the axial and shear loss factors of a laminated infinitely long cylindrical tube as functions of β and θ fiber orientation angles are determined employing the Adam and Bacon approach. The analysis engenders high loss factors (greater than 0.4), which suggests that the power efficiency of the proposed pump using the 3-layer carbon/polyurethane laminate may be low.展开更多
