The peak value of the real component of ac susceptibility X' at the freezing temperature Tf is suppressed with the increasing frequency. The peak value of X' shows a linear relation between Tf and the logarithm of the frequency ω. The normalized slope P = △Tf/Tf△lgco, which is much lower than canonical insulating spin glass systems in which 0.06 ≤ P ≤ 0,08. The peak value of the imaginary component of the ac susceptibility X" at Tf for the x= 0, 0.02, 0.30 samples increases with increasing frequency, suggesting a cluster glass ground state with a coexistence of charge-ordered phase and correlated ferromagnetic clusters in spin glass matrix. The peak value ofx" at Tf for the x = 0.10 sample decreases with increasing frequency, suggesting a phase separation ground state. The peak value of X"at Tf for the x = 0.05 sample decreases with increasing frequency for ω ≤52 Hz and increases subsequently till 701 Hz, and then decreases with further increasing frequency for ω ≥ 1501 Hz. This complex behaviour is ascribed to the competition between the effects of large and little ferromagnetic clusters in the sample. The ground state of x = 0.05 sample is a transition state from cluster glass to phase separation.展开更多

It is found that the dc current-voltage characteristic of mixed state superconductors has a general form of extended power law which is based on the Ginzburg-Landau (GL) functional in the similar way as the vortex glass theory. Isotherms simulated from this nonlinear equation fit the experimental I- V data of Strachan et al. [Phys. Rev. Left. 87(2001) 067007]. The puzzling question of the derivative plot for the I - V curves and the controversy surrounding the values of critical exponents are discussed.展开更多

The magnetic properties of Cu/Fe/SiO2/Si grown by dc magnetron sputtering were investigated. The in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy was probed by the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE). The value of UMA, Ku = 2.5 x 103 J/m3, was simulated from the field dependence of ac susceptibility along the hard axis according to the Stoner-Wohlfarth (S-W) model, which is consistent with Ku = 2.7~ 103 J/m3 calculated from the magnetic hysteresis loops. Our results show that the magneto-optical Kerr effect susceptometry can be employed to determine the magnetic anisotropy constant owing to its high sensitivity.展开更多

Both the fitting parameters first increase and then tend to be saturated at high magnetic fields through using isothermal remanent magnetizations, which suggests a spin glass transition at low temperature. AC susceptibility study also supports this conclusion since the frequency dependence of peak position and intensity follows the tendency of a spin glass transition. The origin of the spin-glass transition in Li CoMnO4 might be attributed to a spatial segregation between non-magnetic Co^3+regions and spin glass ordered regions of Mn^4+ions.展开更多

The relationship between ac initial susceptibility and temperature of nickel films with different thicknesses shows that the magnetization orientation changes from in-plane to out-of-plane with the increase of temperature. The temperature dependence of mugnetoelastic, magneto-crystalline, and magnetostatic anisotropies determines the direction of the reorientation transition. The temperature-driven spin reorientation transition is supported by Hall coefficient measurements which show that its temperature dependence is similar to that of susceptibility.展开更多

The powder X-ray diffractograms indicate that the tetragonal structure of T1-1223 is not affected by Sc-substitution whereas the lattice parameters are changed. The X-ray analysis indicates that the low-contents of scandium (x) enhance the formation of T1-1223 and reduce the secondary phases. The grain-size determined by SEM decreases as x increases. The electrical resistivity measurements show suppression in the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, and an increase in both the residual resistivity and the superconducting transition width as x increases. The suppression in Tc is attributed to the hole-filling mechanism.展开更多

The magnetic response is complex and shows contributions arising from two subsystems: a system with collective characteristics, superspin-glass like, and another one with single particle characteristics (superparamagnetic) with dipolar interaction. The nucleating agents have strong influence on the characteristic temperatures and anisotropy energy.展开更多

It was found that the added samples were predominant by Y-123 phase beside small amount of Y-211 and unreacted Nd2O3secondary phases. All added samples preserved the orthorhombic structure similar to the pure sample and no orthorhombic-to-tetragonal transition occurred. The samples became more porous and their grain size significantly de-creased with addition of Nd2O3. The addition of nano-Nd2O3 disturbed the grain growth of Y123, thus resulting in the degradation of superconducting properties of the samples. The superconducting transition temperature (Tc onset) of samples decreased from 92 K for x=0.0 to 78 K forx=1.0 wt.%, which could be attributable to oxygen vacancy disorder. From AC susceptibility result, the inter- and intra-granular loss peaks became wider and broader with increase of Nd2O3 addition due to the weakening of grains coupling. On the other hand, the inter-granular critical current density,Jcm, was found to increase with Nd2O3 addition and had the highest value at x=0.6, confirming that Nd2O3 nanoparticles acted as pinning centers in Y123 matrix.展开更多
