The aim here is to examine ionospheric anomalies through variations in Total Electronic Content (TEC) recorded at the Koudougou GPS station over solar cycle 24 during periods of corotation activity. Through the diurnal variations by solar phase, we observed a TEC peak at 14:00 TL. The TEC data analysed revealed winter, annual and semi-annual anomalies. However, the equinoctial anomaly was insignificant during corotation activity at the Koudougou station during solar cycle 24.展开更多

Unhealthy eating habits and lack of proper nutrition knowledge cause non-communicable diseases and affect adolescents. It is in adolescence that eating habits are formed that persist till adulthood. Lifestyle interventions are needed to curb NCDs in adolescents. This paper reports the findings of a study that aimed to validate a lifestyle intervention program and its effect on food intake, physical activity, and nutrition knowledge. It was a clustered randomized control trial study conducted in four (4) junior secondary schools. There were 46 participants, 21 in the control and 25 in the intervention arm, who were blindly assigned to each arm by a statistician. Information and skills on nutrition were imparted using the Information, Motivation, and Behavioral Skills model. The program was implemented for eight (8) weeks hourly after school. A questionnaire was used to collect data pre- and post-intervention. Number, proportion, percentage, and independent t-test (mean and SD or median and IQR, p-value) were calculated using numerical and categorical data. The findings showed that the lifestyle intervention was valid, and there was a slight decrease in the intake of sweets among participants in both trial arms (p = 0.066). There was no significant difference in terms of food intake. Only a small number of participants still ate a few fruits, and there was no change in vegetable intake in both trial arms (p = 0.641). There was no change in the intake of fried foods in both trail arms (p = 0.402). Regarding nutrition knowledge, there was a slight significant difference of p = 0.079 between the trial arms. Though the effect of the lifestyle intervention program was not statistically significant, the results are promising, especially if the duration could be increased to a longer period and a larger sample size included.展开更多

The study integrates four distinct open-source datasets—WISDM, DaLiAc, MotionSense, and PAMAP2—to develop a generalized MLP model for classifying six human activities. Performance analysis of the fused model for each dataset reveals accuracy rates of 95.83 for WISDM, 97 for DaLiAc, 94.65 for MotionSense, and 98.54 for PAMAP2. A comparative evaluation was conducted between the fused MLP model and the individual dataset models, with the latter tested on separate validation sets. The results indicate that the MLP model, trained on the fused dataset, exhibits superior performance relative to the models trained on individual datasets. This finding suggests that multisource data fusion significantly enhances the generalization and accuracy of HAR systems. The improved performance underscores the potential of integrating diverse data sources to create more robust and comprehensive models for activity recognition.展开更多

Solar activity links. The solar activity indices are expressed through the averaged sunspot numbers SSN and the summary curve of eigen vectors of the solar background magnetic field (SBMF). The terrestrial temperature (GLB dataset), global sea level, and volcanic eruption frequencies are shown from the wavelet analysis to have a clear link to the SBMF index, which has the same significant period of 21.4 years. The ice and snow areas in the Northern hemisphere are found to vary with a period of 10.7 years equal to the usual sunspot activity cycle while in the Southern hemispheres, no links to solar activity are detected. Solar orbital motion links. The variations of total solar irradiance (TSI) measured from the abundance of 14C isotope during the Holocene are shown to have a similar period of 2200-2300 years (Hallstatt’s cycle) as the solar inertial motion (SIM) induced by the gravitation of large planets, In the current millennium the amount of TSI deposited on Earth in the March-September to Northern hemisphere is ≈1.2% higher than in the September to March in the Southern hemisphere. The wavelet analysis of ONI revealed the two significant periods of 4.5 and 12 years. The first one is shown to have a link to the lunar perigee period variations while the second period is linked to the Jupiter period of revolution about the Sun whose gravitation seems to trigger terrestrial tectonic processes leading to volcanic eruptions. The ONI variation is noticeably linked to the occurrence of underwater volcanic eruptions (correlation of 25%), which, in turn, are linked to the tidal forces of Jupiter, the Moon and the Sun in its inertial motion. Joint effects of the solar activity and the solar and planetary orbital motion are likely to govern the current changes in the terrestrial environment defining continuing climate change.展开更多
文摘This article is part of the ongoing study of the moderate geomagnetic activity of corotation. However, the equinoctial anomaly was insignificant during corotation activity at the Koudougou station during solar cycle 24.

文摘Sulfide-based all-solid-state lithium batteries(ASSLBs) with nickel-rich oxide cathodes are emerging as primary contenders for the next generation rechargeable batteries, owing to their superior safety and energy density. However, the all-solid-state batteries with nickel-rich oxide cathodes suffer from performance degradation due to the reactions between the highly reactive surface oxygen of the cathode and the electrolyte,as well as the instability of the bulk oxygen structure in the cathode.Herein,we propose a synergistic modification design scheme to adjust the oxygen activity from surface to bulk. The LiBO_(2)coating inhibits the reactivity of surface lattice oxygen ions.Meanwhile,Zr doping in the bulk phase forms strong Zr-O covalent bonds that stabilize the bulk lattice oxygen structure. The synergistic effect of these modifications prevents the release of oxygen, thus avoiding the degradation of the cathode/SE interface.Additionally, the regulation of surface-to-bulk oxygen activity establishes a highly stable interface, thereby enhancing the lithium ion diffusion kinetics and mechanical stability of the cathode.Consequently, cathodes modified with this synergistic strategy exhibit outstanding performance in sulfide-based ASSLBs,including an ultra-long cycle life of 100,000 cycles,ultra-high rate capability at 45C,and 85% high active material content in the composite cathode.Additionally,ASSLB exhibits stable cycling under high loading conditions of 82.82 mg cm^(-2),achieving an areal capacity of 17.90 mA h cm^(-2).These encouraging results pave the way for practical applications of ASSLBs in fast charging, long cycle life, and high energy density in the future.

文摘Patients with complete spinal cord injury retain the potential for volitional muscle activity in muscles located below the spinal injury level. However, because of prolonged inactivity, initial attempts to activate these muscles may not effectively engage any of the remaining neurons in the descending pathway.A previous study unexpectedly found that a brief clinical round of passive activity significantly increased volitional muscle activation,as measured by surface electromyography. In this study,we further explored the effect of passive activity on surface electromyographic signals during volitional control tasks among individuals with complete spinal cord injury.Eleven patients with chronic complete thoracic spinal cord injury were recruited.Surface electromyography data from eight major leg muscles were acquired and compared before and after the passive activity protocol. The results indicated that the passive activity led to an increased number of activated volitional muscles and an increased frequency of activation.Although the cumulative root mean square of surface electromyography amplitude for volitional control of movement showed a slight increase after passive activity, the difference was not statistically significant. These findings suggest that brief passive activity may enhance the ability to initiate volitional muscle activity during surface electromyography tasks and underscore the potential of passive activity for improving residual motor control among patients with motor complete spinal cord injury.
文摘Objective Magnetoencephalography(MEG),a non-invasive neuroimaging technique, meticulously captures the magnetic fields emanating from brain electrical activity.Compared with MEG based on superconducting quantum interference devices(SQUID),MEG based on optically pump magnetometer(OPM)has the advantages of higher sensitivity, better spatial resolution and lower cost. However, most of the current studies are clinical studies, and there is a lack of animal studies on MEG based on OPM technology.Pain,a multifaceted sensory and emotional phenomenon, induces intricate alterations in brain activity, exhibiting notable sex differences.Despite clinical revelations of pain-related neuronal activity through MEG,specific properties remain elusive, and comprehensive laboratory studies on pain-associated brain activity alterations are lacking. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of inflammatory pain(induced by Complete Freund’s Adjuvant(CFA))on brain activity in a rat model using the MEG technique,to analysis changes in brain activity during pain perception, and to explore sex differences in pain-related MEG signaling. Methods This study utilized adult male and female Sprague-Dawley rats.Inflammatory pain was induced via intraplantar injection of CFA(100μl,50%in saline)in the left hind paw, with control groups receiving saline.Pain behavior was assessed using von Frey filaments at baseline and 1 h post-injection.For MEG recording, anesthetized rats had an OPM positioned on their head within a magnetic shield, undergoing two 15-minute sessions:a 5-minute baseline followed by a 10-minute mechanical stimulation phase.Data analysis included artifact removal and time-frequency analysis of spontaneous brain activity using accumulated spectrograms, generating spectrograms focused on the 4-30 Hz frequency range. Results MEG recordings in anesthetized rats during resting states and hind paw mechanical stimulation were compared, before and after saline/CFA injections.Mechanical stimulation elevated alpha activity in both male and female rats pre-and post-saline/CFA injections.Saline/CFA injections augmented average power in both sexes compared to pre-injection states.Remarkably, female rats exhibited higher average spectral power 1 h after CFA injection than after saline injection during resting states.Furthermore, despite comparable pain thresholds measured by classical pain behavioral tests post-CFA treatment, female rats displayed higher average power than males in the resting state after CFA injection. Conclusion These results imply an enhanced perception of inflammatory pain in female rats compared to their male counterparts. Our study exhibits sex differences in alpha activities following CFA injection, highlighting heightened brain alpha activity in female rats during acute inflammatory pain in the resting state. Our study provides a method for OPM-based MEG recordings to be used to study brain activity in anaesthetized animals. In addition, the findings of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of pain-related neural activity and pain sex differences.
文摘To expand the study on the structures and biological activities of the anthracyclines anticancer drugs and reduce their toxic side effects, the new anthraquinone derivatives,9‑pyridylanthrahydrazone(9‑PAH)and 9,10‑bispyridylanthrahydrazone(9,10‑PAH)were designed and synthesized.Utilizing 9‑PAH and 9,10‑PAH as promising anticancer ligands, their respective copper complexes,namely[Cu(L1)Cl_(2)]Cl(1)and{[Cu_(4)(μ_(2)‑Cl)_(3)Cl_(4)(9,10‑PAH)_(2)(DMSO)_(2)]Cl_(2)}_(n)(2),were subsequently synthesized, where the new ligand L1 is formed by coupling two 9‑PAH ligands in the coordination reaction. The chemical and crystal structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated by IR,MS,elemental analysis, and single‑crystal X‑ray diffraction.Complex 1 forms a mononuclear structure.L1 coordinates with Cu through its three N atoms, together with two Cl atoms,to form a five‑coordinated square pyramidal geometry.Complex 2 constitutes a polymeric structure, wherein each structural unit centrosymmetrically encompasses two five‑coordinated binuclear copper complexes(Cu1,Cu2)of 9,10‑PAH,with similar square pyramidal geometry.A chlorine atom(Cl_(2)),located at the symmetry center, bridges Cu1 and Cu1A to connect the two binuclear copper structures.Meanwhile, the two five‑coordinated Cu2 atoms symmetrically bridge the adjacent structural units via one coordinated Cl atom, respectively, thus forming a 1D chain‑like polymeric structure. In vitro anticancer activity assessments revealed that 1 and 2 showed significant cytotoxicity even higher than cisplatin.Specifically, the IC_(50)values of 2 against HeLa‑229 and SK‑OV‑3 cancer cell lines were determined to be(5.92±0.32)μmol·L^(-1)and(6.48±0.39)μmol·L^(-1),respectively.2 could also block the proliferation of HeLa‑229 cells in S phase and significantly induce cell apoptosis. In addition, fluorescence quenching competition experiments suggested that 2 might interact with DNA by an intercalative binding mode, offering insights into its underlying anticancer mechanism.CCDC:2388918,1;2388919,2.

文摘Background:Taking actions to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including regular engagement in physical activity(PA)and reducing sedentary behavior(SB),may protect against the development of internalizing problems among healthy youth. However,it remains unclear whether such associations exist among youth with chronic pain who often report symptoms of depression and anxiety. To this end,we aimed to investigate the associations between independent and combined PA and/or SB patterns with indicators of internalizing problems in this vulnerable population. Methods:Data used in this cross-sectional study were retrieved from the U.S.National Survey of Children’s Health for the years 2021-2022.Specifically,caregiver proxy reports on sociodemgraphic factors and lifestyle behaviors of 4735 U.S.children and adolescents(referring to youth)aged 6-17 years were collected. We examined independent and combined patterns of PA and SB as exposures, with internalizing problems serving as outcomes of interest.Logistic regressions were used to examine the independent and combined associations of PA and/or SB patterns with anxiety and depression symptoms among youth with chronic pain while adjusting for covariates including age, sex, ethnicity, primary caregivers’education level, overweight status, and household federal poverty level. Results:Overall, our results indicated that PA was negatively associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms.Specifically, youth with chronic pain who engaged in at least 60-minute PA for 1-3 days,4-6 days,or every day reported significantly lower likelihood of experiencing symptoms of anxiety(OR=0.71,95%CI:0.60-0.84;OR=0.44,95%CI:0.36-0.53;OR=0.50,95%CI:0.40-0.63,respectively;all p-value<0.001)and depression(OR=0.63,95%CI:0.53-0.75;OR=0.38,95%CI:0.31-0.47;OR=0.46,95%CI:0.36-0.59,respectively;all p-value<0.001)symptoms compared to those with 0 days.Conversely,SB(operationalized via the proxy screen time)was positively associated with anxiety and depression symptoms.Youth with chronic pain who reported 4 or more hours of daily screen time had significantly higher odds of experiencing symptoms of anxiety(OR=2.17,95%CI:1.52-3.09,p<0.001)and depression(OR=2.30,95%CI:1.48-3.59,p<0.001).Furthermore,youth with chronic pain who engaged in higher PA levels and reported lower SB levels had a lower likelihood of experiencing symptoms of anxiety(OR=0.68,95%CI:0.52-0.87,p=0.003)and depression(OR=0.49,95%CI:0.34-0.70,p<0.001)symptoms compared to those with lower PA levels and higher SB levels. Conclusions:Higher PA levels and lower SB levels were associated with a reduced likelihood of developing anxiety and depression symptoms, which are indicative of internalizing problems, among youth with chronic pain.Future public health actions in this vulnerable population should prioritize intervention programs that promote PA engagement to reduce SB levels.
文摘Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are on the rise worldwide and in developing countries like Botswana. Though the effect of the lifestyle intervention program was not statistically significant, the results are promising, especially if the duration could be increased to a longer period and a larger sample size included.

文摘Chondroitin sulfate(CS)is one of the main bioactive compounds in animal cartilage. In this study, the antiinflammatory activity of sturgeon-derived chondroitin sulfate(SCS)was evaluated in the dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced BALB/c mice model.Orally administration of SCS significantly alleviated the DSSinduced colitis symptoms, including the reduction of crypt depth, inhibition of the abnormal crypt foci formation,down-regulation of the proinflammatory biomarkers(NO,interleukin(IL)-6,IL-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α)and up-regulation of the anti-inflammatory biomarkers(IL-10 and IL-4).The gut microbiota analysis revealed that SCS alters the intestinal microbiota composition in colitis mice, especially the increase of the relative abundance of Ruminococcaceae and Lachnospiraceae. This alternation further induced primary bile acids convert into secondary bile acids. With SCS administration, the levels of deoxycholic acid(DCA)and litho cholic acid(LCA)were increased by 1.5-and 2.5-fold,respectively.The stimulated secretion of DCA and LCA showed further activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, thereby suppressing the inflammatory response and attenuating inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)in mice. This study provided a valuable strategy for colitis prevention and treatment with sturgeon cartilage by-products.

文摘This research investigates the application of multisource data fusion using a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) for Human Activity Recognition (HAR). The improved performance underscores the potential of integrating diverse data sources to create more robust and comprehensive models for activity recognition.
文摘Objectives:The current study aimed to perform a meta-analysis to comprehensively investigate effect of physical activity on cognitive function in people with Mild Cognitive Impairment. The findings of this study can offer an important basis for identifying the significance of physical activity as an important factor in designing and implementing strategies to enhance cognitive function in mild cognitive impairment.Methods:21 articles were selected through academic databases(EBSCOhost,PubMed,ScienceDirect,Web of Science),and 20 Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)data and 15 Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)data were obtained. The study was conducted using the meta-analysis.To test the validity of each article included in this study,a funnel plot and Egger’s regression analysis were carried out to check for publication bias. Results:The 95%confidence interval(CI)for the effect size was interpreted as a small effect size if the effect size was between 0.2 and 0.5,a moderate effect size if the effect size was between 0.5 and 0.8,and large if the effect size was greater than 0.8.First,the meta-analysis of MoCA data showed a large effect size of 0.96;second,the meta-analysis of MMSE data indicated a large effect size of 0.93;and third, the meta-analysis of MoCA and MMSE data together indicated a moderate effect size of 0.68.Conclusion:The current study demonstrates the significant effect of physical activity on cognitive function and provides a basis for developing programs to improve cognitive function.People diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment generally experience minimal disruption in daily living activities. However,as the severity of the condition progresses, significant challenges emerge, impacting the individual’s ability to carry out daily tasks.Research has demonstrated that physical activity can enhance cognitive function in individuals with MCI.Consequently,it is recommended that these individuals be motivated to participate in physical activity to optimize their cognitive function and enhance their overall quality of life.

文摘Lithium-rich layered oxides (LLOs) are increasingly recognized as promising cathode materials for nextgeneration high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries (LIBs).However, they suffer from voltage decay and low initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) due to severe structural degradation caused by irreversible O release.Herein,we introduce a three-in-one strategy of increasing Ni and Mn content, along with Li/Ni disordering and TM–O covalency regulation to boost cationic and anionic redox activity simultaneously and thus enhance the electrochemical activity of LLOs.The target material,Li_(1.2)Ni_(0.168)Mn_(0.558)Co_(0.074)O_(2)(L1),exhibits an improved ICE of 87.2%and specific capacity of 293.2 mA h g^(-1)and minimal voltage decay of less than 0.53 m V cycle-1over 300 cycles at 1C,compared to Li_(1.2)Ni_(0.13)Mn_(0.54)Co_(0.13)O_(2)(Ls)(274.4 mA h g^(-1)for initial capacity,73.8%for ICE and voltage decay of 0.84 mV/cycle over 300 cycles at 1C).Theoretical calculations reveal that the density of states (DOS) area near the Fermi energy level for L1 is larger than that of Ls,indicating higher anionic and cationic redox reactivity than Ls.Moreover,L1 exhibits increased O-vacancy formation energy due to higher Li/Ni disordering of 4.76%(quantified by X-ray diffraction Rietveld refinement) and enhanced TM–O covalency, making lattice O release more difficult and thus improving electrochemical stability. The increased Li/Ni disordering also leads to more Ni^(2+)presence in the Li layer, which acts as a pillar during Li+de-embedding,improving structural stability. This research not only presents a viable approach to designing low-Co LLOs with enhanced capacity and ICE but also contributes significantly to the fundamental understanding of structural regulation in high-performance LIB cathodes.

Joint effects of the solar activity and the solar and planetary orbital motion are likely to govern the current changes in the terrestrial environment defining continuing climate change.
