In this study an indirect adaptive sliding mode control (SMC) based on a fuzzy logic scheme is proposed to strengthen the tracking control performance of a general class of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear uncertain systems. Combining reaching law approach and fuzzy universal approximation theorem, the proposed design procedure combines the advantages of fuzzy logic control, adaptive control and sliding mode control. The stability of the control systems is proved in the sense of the Lyapunov second stability theorem. Two simulation studies are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our new hybrid control algorithm. 展开更多

In this paper, the adaptive robust tracking control scheme is proposed for a class of multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) non-affine systems with uncertain structure and parameters, unknown control direction and unknown external disturbance based on backstepping technique. The MIMO non-affine system is first transformed into a time-varying system with strict feedback structure using the mean value theorem, and then the bounded time-varying parameters are estimated by adaptive algorithms with projection. To handle the possible 'controller singularity' problem caused by unknown control direction, a Nussbaum function is employed, and the dynamic surface control (DSC) method is applied to solve the problem of 'explosion of complexity' in backstepping control. It is proved that the proposed control scheme can guarantee that all signals of the closed-loop system are bounded through Lyapunov stability theorem and decoupled backstepping method. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

This paper investigates MIMO mechanical systems with unknown actuator nonlinearities. A novel Nussbaum analysis tool for MIMO systems is established such that unknown time-varying control coefficients are tackled. In contrast to existing literatures on continuous-time systems, the newly-developed Nussbaum tool focuses on extending the traditional Nussbaum result from one dimensional case to the multiple one. Specifically, not only the multiple unknown input coefficients are extended to the time-varying, but also the limitation of the prior knowledge of coefficients' upper and lower bounds is removed. Furthermore, an adaptive robust controller associated with the proposed tool is presented. The asymptotic tracking of MIMO mechanical systems is guaranteed with the help of the Lyapunov Theorem. In this paper,an adaptive neural tracking control scheme for a class of uncertain switched multi-input multi-output(MIMO)pure-feedback nonlinear systems is proposed.The considered MIMO pure-feedback nonlinear system contains input and output constraints,completely unknown nonlinear functions and time-varying external disturbances.The unknown nonlinear functions representing system uncertainties are identified via radial basis function neural networks(RBFNNs).Then,the Nussbaum function is utilized to deal with the nonlinearity issue caused by the input saturation.To prevent system outputs from violating prescribed constraints,the barrier Lyapunov functions(BLFs)are introduced.Also,a switched disturbance observer is designed to make the time-varying external disturbances estimable.Based on the backstepping recursive design technique and the Lyapunov stability theory,the developed control method is verified applicable to ensure the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system and make the system output track given reference signals well.Finally,a numerical simulation is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method. 展开更多

Compared with the traditional phased array radar, the co-located multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) radar is able to transmit orthogonal waveforms to form different illuminating modes, providing a larger freedom degree in radar resource management. In order to implement the effective resource management for the co-located MIMO radar in multi-target tracking,this paper proposes a resource management optimization model,where the system resource consumption and the tracking accuracy requirements are considered comprehensively. An adaptive resource management algorithm for the co-located MIMO radar is obtained based on the proposed model, where the sub-array number, sampling period, transmitting energy, beam direction and working mode are adaptively controlled to realize the time-space resource joint allocation. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm. Furthermore, the co-located MIMO radar using the proposed algorithm can satisfy the predetermined tracking accuracy requirements with less comprehensive cost compared with the phased array radar. 展开更多

The iteration-stopping scheme of turbo receiver, consisting of an inner multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detector and an outer turbo decoder, was studied in this paper. In the inner MIMO detector, only the reliabilities of bits in those channel slots which included unreliable information bits were updated when the outer turbo code was a systematical one. In conjunction with the trigger events for stopping the turbo decoding, an iteration-stopping scheme of turbo receiver was proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has lower complexity, but almost the same error performance compared to the scheme with predetermined maximum iterations. 展开更多

This paper presents a novel control method for accommodating actuator faults in a class of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) nonlinear uncertain systems.The designed control scheme can tolerate both the time-varying lock-in-place and loss of effectiveness actuator faults.In each subsystem of the considered MIMO system,the controller is obtained from a backstepping procedure;an adaptive fuzzy approximator with minimal learning parameterization is employed to approximate the package of unknown nonlinear functions in each design step.Additional control effort is taken to deal with the approximation error and external disturbance together.It is proven that the closed-loop stability and desired tracking performance can be guaranteed by the proposed control scheme.An example is used to show the effectiveness of the designed controller. 展开更多

Multiple antenna wireless systems can provide larger channel capacity and enable spatial diversity to combat fading. In this paper we conduct an investigation into the design of coded space-time system obtained by serially concatenating channel code module and space-time code module with an interleaver in between. As an example, the system is constructed by employing low decoding complexity turbo-SPC (single parity check) code as outer module and linear complex field space-time code as inner module, which achieves full diversity and lossless equivalent channel capacity. Simulation results prove that our designed system performs well and it only loses 0.8 dB from multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) capacity at BER = 10^-5 in the case of information bit length 6048. Compared with turbo code-based systems, it also has lower error floor. 展开更多

In the field of fault diagnosis, the state equation of nonlinear system, including the actuator and the component, has been established. When the faults in the system appear, it is difficult to observe the fault isolation between the actuator and the component. In order to diagnose the component fault in the nonlinear systems, a novel strategy is proposed. The nonlinear state equation with only the component system is built on mathematical equations. The nonlinearity of the component equation is expanded and estimated with Taylor series. If the actuator is perfect, the anomaly of the state equations reflects the component fault. The fault feature index is defined to detect the component fault and the initial fault. The numerical examples of the component faults are simulated for multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)nonlinear systems. The results show that the component faults,as well as the incipient faults, can be detected. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified. This method can also provide a foundation for the component fault reconfiguration control. 展开更多

Conventional adaptive antenna array-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)/OFDM systems use the sub-carriers characterized by the largest eigenvalue to transmit the OFDM symbols. This paper describes the performance of adaptive subchannel assignment-based MIMO/OFDM systems over multipath fading channels, The system adaptively selects the eigenvectors associated with the relatively large subchannel eigenvalues to generate the antenna array weights at the base and mobile stations and then adaptively assigns the corresponding best subchannels to transmit the OFDM symbols. Simulation results show that the proposed system can achieve better performance than the conventional adaptive antenna arraybased MIMO/OFDM system over multipath fading channels. 展开更多
