Background Depression, anxiety and schizophrenia among older persons have become global public health challenges. However, the burden of these disorders in ageing and aged countries has not been analysed.Aims To investigate the burden of depression, anxiety and schizophrenia among older adults in ageing and aged countries. Methods Using data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019,we calculated the estimated annual percentage change(EAPC)in the age-standardised incidence rates(ASiR)and age-standardised disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)rates(ASDR)for depression, anxiety and schizophrenia of older people in ageing countries(China,India,Indonesia)and aged countries(Japan,Italy,Portugal)between 1990 and 2019.Trends in incidence and DALYs were analysed by gender and age. Results In 2019,the highest incidence of depression, anxiety and schizophrenia in the older population in aged countries was in Japan(927271.3(752552.3-1125796.5),51498.2(37625.7-70487.3)and 126.0(61.0-223.2),respectively),while the highest incidence in ageing countries was in China(5797556.9(4599403.4-7133006.5),330256.1(246448.9-445987.4)and 1067.7(556.2-1775.9),respectively).DALYs for these disorders were similar, with the highest in Japan and China. From 1990 to 2019,the ASIR for depressive disorders decreased in aged countries but increased in ageing countries;the ASIR for anxiety disorders and schizophrenia declined in both ageing and aged countries. The ASDR for depressive disorders was consistent with the ASIR but not for anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. The ASIR for depressive disorders was higher in older women, while the opposite was observed in anxiety disorders and schizophrenia.Notably, the conditions of burden of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders and schizophrenia in the 65-70-year-old age group were the most burdensome. Conclusions The incidence and DALYs of these three mental disorders increased while exhibiting differences between ageing and aged countries.Raising awareness about formulating health policies for preventing and treating mental disorders in the older population is necessary to reduce the future burden posed by the ageing challenge. 展开更多

The creep strain of conventionally treated 2195 alloy is very low, increasing the difficulty of manufacturing Al-Cu-Li alloy sheet parts by creep age forming. Therefore, finding a solution to improve the creep formability of Al-Cu-Li alloy is vital.A thorough comparison of the effects of cryo-deformation and ambient temperature large pre-deformation(LPD)on the creep ageing response in the 2195 alloy sheet at 160℃with different stresses has been made. The evolution of dislocations and precipitates during creep ageing of LPD alloys are revealed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy.High-quality 2195 alloy sheet largely pre-deformed by 80%without edge-cracking is obtained by cryo-rolling at liquid nitrogen temperature, while severe edge-cracking occurs during room temperature rolling. The creep formability and strength of the 2195 alloy are both enhanced by introducing pre-existing dislocations with a density over 1.4×10^(15)m^(−2).At 160℃and 150 MPa,creep strain and creep-aged strength generally increases by 4−6 times and 30−50 MPa in the LPD sample, respectively, compared to conventional T3 alloy counterpart. The elongation of creep-aged LPD sample is low but remains relevant for application. The high-density dislocations, though existing in the form of dislocation tangles, promote the formation of refined T1 precipitates with a uniform dispersion. 展开更多

This research considered the effect of non-natural aging on the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of as-cast aluminum 6063 alloys. The samples were developed through a sand casting process and machined into tensile and impact test samples before carrying out solution heat treatment at 550?C (0.83 Tm) on two parts of the samples while retaining one part as the control. The two parts were further divided into sets denoted A and B and were aged at 180?C (0.27 Tm) and 160?C (0.24 Tm), respectively, for 12 hours. The results showed that sample A has the optimal yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of 192 and 206 MPa, respectively. Likewise, the sample gave the highest impact strength value of about 9.63 J/mm2. The observed results were supported by the optical micrograph, which revealed that the sample has evenly dispersed precipitates in its microstructure. This is deemed responsible for the observed increase in strength of the sample. 展开更多

The safety and reliability of weapon systems would be significantly affected by changes in the performance of energetic materials due to ambient temperature and humidity.Nanothermites have promising applications due to their excellent reactivity. Therefore it becomes extremely important to understand their aging and failure process in the environment before using them. Here, the aging and failure process of Al/CuO in 71°C/60%RH were investigated, and showed that CuO nanoparticles negatively catalyze Al nanopowders, resulting in rapid hydration. The anti-aging effect of FAS-17-coated Al nanopowder was also examined. The aging process of Al,Al/CuO,and Al@FAS-17/CuO in high humidity and heat environment were revealed by quasi-in situ SEM and TEM methods.Compared with the aging of pure Al,the Al nanopowder in the nanothermites strongly agglomerated with the CuO nanopowder and hydrated earlier. This may be caused by CuO catalyzed hydration of Al nanopowder. The energy release experiments showed that the performance of Al/CuO decreased rapidly and failed to ignite after 4 h of aging. In contrast, the Al@FAS-17/CuO thermite can achieve long-term stability of up to 60 h in the same environment by simple cladding of FAS-17.It is found that FAS-17 coated Al nanopowder can prevent both particle agglomeration and water erosion, which is an effective means to make nanothermites application in high humidity and heat environment. 展开更多

The Irvingia gabonensis kernels, which have been extensively studied for their numerous virtues, including the ability to act against the accumulation of fats in the body[1], contain an oil. The aging of this oil under two different conditions of conservation was the subject of our work. One of the results was an increase in the content of long-chain carbonaceous fatty acids during aging for 11 months of storage at low temperature (6℃) and at 30℃. This behavior does not find a concordant explanation by the comparative analysis of the chemical indices. Hence, there is the need to use the Medium Infra-Red spectroscopy (MIR) which allowed to clarify the information of the saponification index, to justify the weakness of the formation of peroxides in the case of the conservation at 30℃ and to confirm the information given by the peroxide index. It also allowed to understand the formation of the long carbon chains by the “cis-trans” isomerization and the homolytic cuts which intervene within the matrix of the fat by the analysis of the number of -CH2 and -CH3 groups in the two conditions of conservation. This study reveals that the rapid solidification of Irvingia gabonensis oil at room temperature[2] is an advantage for its preservation at room temperature but a great weakness when the fat is stored at low temperature. 展开更多

The corrosion behaviors of Mg-10Gd-4.8Y-0.6Zr extruded-alloys with various ageing time were investigated by immersion test and electrochemical measurements. The results show that the corrosion rate of the experimental alloy decreases with the increase of ageing time from 0 to 108 h.The corrosion resistance of the experimental alloy was found to increase with the increase of the size of the precipitate phases. The open circuit potential of the experimental alloy increases with the increase of the ageing time. The potentiodynamic polarization curves show that the cathodic over-potential increases with the increase of ageing time, leading to a decrease in the current density of anodic current plateau with the increase of ageing time. 展开更多

In order to improve the through-thickness homogeneity and properties of aviation aluminum alloy thick plate. The effect of heating-cooling retrogression and re-ageing on the performance of Al-8Zn-2Mg-2Cu alloy thick plate was investigated by hardness tests, electrical conductivity tests and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) observation. Results revealed that, during retrogression heating, the fine pre-precipitates in surface layer dissolve more and the undissolved η′ or η phases are more coarsened than that of center layer. During slow cooling after retrogression, precipitates continue coarsening but with a lower rate and the secondary precipitation occurs in both layers. Finer precipitates resulting from the secondary precipitation are more in surface. However, the coarsening and secondary precipitation behaviors are restrained in both layers under quick cooling condition. The electrical conductivity and through-thickness homogeneity of precipitates increases while the hardness decreases with cooling rate decreasing. After the optimized non-isothermal retrogression and re-ageing(NRRA) including air-cooling retrogression, the throughthickness homogeneity which is evaluated by integrated retrogression effects has been improved to 94%. The tensile strength, fracture toughness and exfoliation corrosion grade of Al-8Zn-2Mg-2Cu alloy plate is 619 MPa, 24.7 MPa·m^(1/2)and EB, respectively, which indicates that the non-isothermal retrogression and re-aging(NRRA) could improve the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance with higher through-thickness homogeneity. 展开更多

This study focuses on the development stages of ageing and its regional differences in China based on examination of official statistics and documents. The development of ageing in China has experienced three major stages. Firstly, in the 1950s, low coefficient of elderly population (over 65 years) paced up to primary adult type. Secondly, there was a deeply drop of the elderly population because of natural disaster and political factors in the 1960s. Thirdly, from the 1970s to the end of 20th century, the constant increasing of elderly coefficient made China close to elderly society. With statistic data of population, Logistic model is used to simulate the future development of ageing, and two characteristics of development of ageing are presented. Firstly, as for ageing from 2005 to 2050, the elderly coefficient will grow up significantly from 8.48% to 16.30%. Secondly, after 2025, the increasing rate of elderly coefficient will slow down gradually. The regional differences of elderly population in China can be summarized as follows: 1) the eastern China possesses higher elderly coefficient and huger elder population than the western China; 2) about 47.4% of municipalities and provinces in the eastern China become elderly especially Shanghai, Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, Beijing, Tianjin and Shandong Province; 3) ageing intensity is higher in rural area than urban area but getting close each other, and there are more elderly people in rural area than in urban area. Therefore, these will arose aged care problems, and it becomes important issue to establish the social security system in rural areas as soon as possible for elderly people. 展开更多

Mierostruetural development of a commercial 7055 (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu)alloy is studied by transmission electron mieroseope(TEM) during the process of single-ageing for up to 48 h. It is observed that Guinier-Preston (GP) zones are formed on { 111} planes when the sample is aged for a short time and grows up gradually with increase of ageing time. η' phase is formsed after ageing for 4 h at 120℃, having the orientation relationship with the matrix as[0 0 0 1]η'//[1 1^- 1]Al and (1 0 1^- 1)η'//(1 1 0)Al.η phase starts to occur after 24 h ageing and has an orientation relationship with matrix as [1^- 1 0 0]η//[1 1 0]Al and (0 0 0 1)η// (1 1 1)Al. Since the density of both η' phase and η phase particles is much lower than that of GP zone on aged alloy, GP zones are important to control the properties of the alloy. 展开更多

A kinetic model of dielectric ageing is presented. The central finding of this investigation is that there is a power-law relationship between the local electric field concentration and the rate of defect-tip initiated conducting crack growth. By applying such a power-law conducting crack growth rate expression to the evaluation of the life of solid dielectrics, the empirical classical ageing law of insulation materials can be derived theoretically as a lobical result. Asphalt binder is inevitably aged by ultraviolet(UV)light during its service period.UV ageing can significantly decrease the technical properties of asphalt binder. The sensitivity of asphalt to UV ageing and thermal-oxidative ageing differs, such that the UV ageing performance cannot be determined based on the thermal-oxidative ageing performance.Previous researches mainly focused on the chemical composite and technical performance changes of asphalt binder during UV ageing, and the UV light parameters effect on the ageing rate of asphalt binder. However, the theory for characterizing and explaining the development of UV ageing depth does not get too much attentions, and the UV ageing mechanism of asphalt binder is not very clear. Therefore,it cannot guide to develop or select the good methods or anti-UV ageing additives for asphalt binders. This paper focuses on the latest researches of the mechanisms and anti-ageing methods of asphalt binders. With the increase of UV ageing time, the UV ageing of asphalt binder develops gradually from the surface to inner part. There are various methods, such as low-penetration grade asphalt, less air void ratio,UV stabilizers and UV light absorbers, that can improve the UV ageing resistance of asphalt binders.A new theory of sensitive wavelengths of asphalt UV ageing is proposed, which can enrich the basic theory of asphalt UV ageing.Depending on this theory, different wavelengths of UV light have different ageing effects on asphalt binder. The composite anti-UV ageing additives with barrier and specific absorption effects on UV light is proposed, and may have better improvement effect on the anti-UV ageing performance of asphalt binder. 展开更多

The effects of stress, ageing time and ageing temperature on creep behavior of poly(methyl methacrylate) were studied. After annealing above its glass transition temperature for a period of time to eliminate the stress and thermal history, the specimens were quenched and aged at various ageing temperatures for different ageing time, and then the short-term creep tests under different stress levels were carried out at room temperature. The creep strains were modeled by means of time-ageing time equivalence and time-stress equivalence, and the master creep curves were constructed via ageing time shift factors and stress shift factors. The results indicate that the creep rate increases with stress, while decreases with ageing time, and the ageing temperature history obviously affects the creep rate. For linear viscoelastic material, the ageing shift rate is independent on imposed stress, while for nonlinear viscoelastic material, the ageing shift rate decreases with increasing stress. The unified master creep curve up to 540 d at reference state was constructed by shifting the creep curves horizontally along the logarithmic time axis to overlap each other. It is demonstrated that the time-stress equivalence, united with the time-ageing time equivalence, provides an effective accelerated characterization technique in the laboratory to evaluate the long-term creep behavior of physical ageing polymers. 展开更多

Samples of AZ80 alloy were hot extruded at 380 ℃ and aged at temperatures of 170 ℃ and 310 ℃ respectively for different periods to compare the effect of precipitate structures on the tensile-compressive yielding asymmetry in magnesium alloy. Uniaxial tension and compression along the extruded direction were carried out at room temperature. It was found that the yielding asymmetry in the aged samples was not as significant as that in the as-extruded samples. This was because twinning occurred less readily in the aged samples. And it was also confirmed by the fact that the increment of the critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) for twinning was higher and the Schmid factor was lower in the aged samples in the presence of precipitate. Thus, it was concluded that the yielding asymmetry could be reduced and even eliminated by increasing the area fraction of the precipitate phase. 展开更多

This research aims to understand the psychological, the social and cognitive aspects of ageing and assess the relevance of driving a personal automobile to seniors. We know that biological ageing is an inescapable fact, but is there also a psychological and a cognitive ageing? If so, is it related to getting older or to other factors? How relevant is continuing to drive to seniors, and how can the activity influence psychological and cognitive types of their ageing and self well-being? To answer these questions, we study several authors and concepts about mental health, development of ageing and their relationship to driving. We also explore psychological and cognitive changes associated with ageing, the principal behavioural changes of healthy senior people (with normal cognitive function) and MCI (mild cognitive impairment), as well as how driving inhibition can induce and affect psychological and cognitive characteristics. We conclude that low mental functioning is caused by a set of biological, psychological and social factors, connected in turn to environmental factors. The slowdown of cognitive activities and performances in seniors is not inevitably accompanied by a decrease in intellectual capacity, low sensory acuity, or slowing psychomotor skills. Other factors should be considered--such as health status, limitations, anxiety, lack of interest, motivation and attitudes. The loss of cognitive abilities and the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment increase with age and are a growing concern, especially among seniors who drive cars. However, we still lack specific evidence based on tests and criteria--in particular, on psychological and cognitive domains--to assess senior drivers actually at risk. It is important to establish a base of evidence to allow objective risk determination. The safest senior drivers should continue driving for as long as possible, thereby contributing to their mental health, independence and quality of life. 展开更多

Increased life expectancy has led to policy interest in adding quality to years of life and in related concepts such as attitudes to ageing. Improving attitudes to ageing is regarded as one means of improving the participation and contribution of older people within society. In considering age- related attitudes in the dynamic nature of social identity, age is not just one social category that may or may not constitute a part of one’s identity. Other identities such as gender may be more salient in attitudes to ageing. The purpose of this study was to explore Norwegian gender differences in attitudes to ageing among 282 females and 200 males living in the community. Attitudes to ageing were measured using the Attitudes to Ageing Questionnaire (AAQ;Laidlaw, Power, Schmidt, & the WHOQOL-OLD Group, 2007). Both genders in this study had positive attitudes toward their ageing, in spite of acknowledging loss with problems of exclusion, making friends and talking about difficult feelings. Compared to men, women perceived ageing as a time of greater loss, however, they felt more strongly that ageing brought wisdom and that their life had made a difference. On the other hand, men felt more strongly that physical problems did not hold them back from doing what they wanted to do and believed more strongly that they passed on their experiences to others. Both genders felt that their identity was not defined by age, they didn’t feel old, aging was a privilege, and appraised the importance of exercising. Attitudes to ageing are becoming increasingly important in ageing societies. Such positive attitudes should be regarded with importance to health professionals, leaders and policy makers in planning interventions to buffer the detrimental aspects of ageing. 展开更多

The effects of the two-step ageing parameters (temperature and time) on the mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of 7B04 (A1-Zn-Mg-Cu) pre-stretched thick plates were studied. The results reveal that the initial T1 ageing contributes a major increase of the tensile strength, and the 0.2% proof stress value reaches 482 MPa after ageing for 7 h at 115℃. Behavioral differences in the tensile properties of the alloy after the two-step ageing treatment were less with the first-step ageing at 115~C for different time periods (7, 14, and 21 h). The effects of the second ageing parameters on the properties and microstructure of the 7B04 alloy were remarkable. TEM analysis of the samples aged at Temper I (7 h at 115℃ + 12 h at 160℃) and Temper II (7 h at 115℃ + 16 h at 165℃) indicates that two kinds of phases, i.e. 11' and 11 phases, precipitate from the matrix and efficiently improve the tensile strength of the alloy, and the grain boundary precipitates are coarse and discrete. There are obvious precipitate free zones (PFZs) along the grain boundary in the microstructure of the alloy after the two-step ageing treatment. 展开更多

This study compared tankyrase 1 expression and autophagy quantity between erectile dysfunction (ED) and non-ED rats' corpus cavernosum smooth muscle cells (CSMCs). This study aslo explored the effect and possible mechanism of tankyrase 1 on autophagy and cell proliferation in ageing ED rats' CSMCs. The intracavernous pres- sure and mean systemic arterial pressure were measured to investigate erectile function so that eight 24-month-old ED and eight 8-month-old male Wistar rats were choosed respectively. The rat CSMCs were isolated and cultured by enzyme digestion, in which tankyrase 1 expression and autophagy quantity were compared. Tankyrase 1 over-expression was induced with plasmid transfection by Lipofectamine^TM. The effect of tankyrase 1 overexpression on proliferation, autophagy and mTOR pathway in 24-month-old ED rats' CSMCs was measured by the cell growth curve in MTT assay, cell cycle analysis in flow cytometry (FCM), key protein expression in Western blot, autophagy quantity in transmission electron microscopy, monodansylcadaverine staining and GFP-LC3 fluorescence. The primary CSMCs were confirmed by immunofluorescence, and the purity was 99.1% in FCM. Compared with that of 8-month-old rats, tankyrase 1 expression and autophagy quantity significantly decreased in 24-month-old ED rats' primary CSMCs (P 〈 0.01). Tankyrase 1 overexpression significantly increased the growth rate (P 〈 0.05) and increased the S phase of cell cycle (P 〈 0.01). The autophagosome quantity was remarkably increased (P 〈 0.01), LC3-Ⅰ/Ⅱ and Beclin 1 were upregulated (P 〈 0.01 and P 〈 0.05), and p-p70S6K (Thr389) was downregulated in 24-month-old ED rat CSMCs (P 〈 0.05). In conclusion, Tankyrase 1 and autophagy decrease in the CSMCs from aging rats with ED, and tankyrase 1 may have a positive effect on proliferation by enhancing autophagy and regulating the mTOR signalling pathway. 展开更多

The tensile properties, electrical conductivity, and microstructure of the forged A1-7.1Zn-1.1Mg-1.6Cu-0.14Zr alloy were investigated after a two-step ageing treatment at 120 and 170℃. The results indicate that the strength of the alloy reaches the peak value at 170~C for 1 h during the second step ageing and then decreases sharply. However, the electrical conductivity value increases continuously with the second ageing time increasing. The fracture mechanism of the alloy is intergranular fracture for 1 h and then changes to dimple transgranular fracture later, and the toughness of the alloy is improved significantly. The phases of rl' and 1"1 are major precipitates in the alloy under the two-step ageing condition. Discontinuous grain boundary precipitates and precipitate-flee zones along the grain boundary are clearly observed. 展开更多
