Several characterization and electrochemical techniques were used to characterize the different Ni–P coatings’ morphologies, phase structures, elemental compositions, and corrosion protection. The gradient coating showed good adhesion and high corrosion and wear resistance, enabling the application of aluminum alloy in harsh environments. The results showed that the double zinc immersion was vital in obtaining excellent adhesion (81.2 N). The optimal coating was not peeled and shredded even after bending tests with angles higher than 90°and was not corroded visually after 500 h of neutral salt spray test at 35℃. The high corrosion resistance was attributed to the misaligning of these micro defects in the three different nickel alloy layers and the amorphous structure of the high P content in the outer layer. These findings guide the exploration of functional gradient coatings that meet the high application requirement of aluminum alloy parts in complicated and harsh aviation environments.展开更多

This type of tube can be manufactured by multi-pass hot power backward spinning process as it can eliminate casting defects, refine microstructure and improve the plasticity of the tube. To analyze the microstructure distribution characteristics of the tube during the spinning process, a 3D coupled thermo-mechanical FE model coupled with the microstructure evolution model of the process was established under the ABAQUS environment. The microstructure evolution characteristics and laws of the tube for the whole spinning process were analyzed. The results show that the dynamic recrystallization is mainly produced in the spinning deformation zone and root area of the tube. In the first pass, the dynamic recrystallization phenomenon is not obvious in the tube. With the pass increasing, the trend of dynamic recrystallization volume percentage gradually increases and extends from the outer surface of the tube to the inner surface. The fine-grained area shows the states of concentration, dispersion, and re-concentration as the pass number increases. .展开更多

The main alloy elements of heat-resistant forging aluminum alloy include Cu, Mg, Si, Ni and Fe. The α solid solution of each element in aluminum consists of S phase (Al2CuMg), Mg2Si phase, bright gray Al2CuNi phase and dark brown Al9FeNi phase. The distribution of each phase in the aluminum alloy is determined by the three-dimensional energy spectrum analysis of the microstructure, and the distribution of each phase in the crystal position is analyzed. The mechanism of heat resistance, easy processing type and wear resistance is obtained, which provides the theoretical basis for the development and use of heat-resistant forged aluminum alloy.展开更多

Light alloys are important to be used in industrial applications. Aluminum additions result in a positive hardness increment of the ternary alloys in comparison with the binary Cu-Ni alloys. Generalized wear mechanisms of the alloys with low aluminum content are basically type abrasive, while samples with 5 and 10 at.% Al present an oxidative-adhesive wear mechanism. Wear results have indicated that aluminum addition affects positively the wear resistance, mainly in samples with high aluminum content product of the creation during the test of different oxides corresponding to the elements present in the alloys.展开更多

Samples were obtained by means of a stirring casting process. From the results of the microstructural characterization, it was observed that the metallic oxides induce the modification of the dendritic structure and grain refinement. X-ray diffraction characterization mainly shows the formation of Al2CuO4, Al2O3 and CuO compounds. Mechanical properties showed that the different thermal treatments resulted in an improved hardness, from 30 kg/mm2 for the un-reinforced sample to 90 kg/mm2 for reinforced samples. The addition of metallic oxides in the Al matrix produces an improved electrical conductivity specifically in sample with 0.50 g of CuO2 additions.展开更多

The gating system of the casting is optimized according to the simulation results. Results show that when the gating system consists of only one sprue, the fi lling of the molten metal is not stable; and the casting does not follow the sequence solidifi cation, and many shrinkage porosities are observed through the casting. After the gating system is improved by adding one runner and two in-gates, the fi lling time is prolonged from 4.0 s to 4.5 s, the fi lling of molten metal becomes stable, but this casting does not follow the sequence solidifi cation either. Some shrinkage porosity is also observed in the hot spots of the casting. When the gating system was further improved by adding risers and chill to the hot spots of the casting, the shrinkage porosity defects were eliminated completely. Finally, by using the optimized gating system the A356 aluminum alloy intake manifold casting with integrated shape and smooth surface as well as dense microstructure was successfully produced.展开更多

The electrochemical behavior of the aluminum sacrificial anode with 3 wt.% sodium chloride solution was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. It was found that a microstructure with few precipitates and refined grains could be achieved by adding 1 wt.% Mg and 0.05 wt.% Ti to the Al-Zn-In alloy, resulting in the improved current capacity and efficiency of the alloy. The equivalent circuit based on the EIS experimental data revealed less corrosion and lower adsorbed corrosion production on the surface of the aluminum alloy with a combination of 1 wt.% Mg and 0.05 wt.% Ti,which suggested that the corrosion behavior seemed to be strongly related to the presence of precipitate particles in the aluminum alloy, and moderate amounts of precipitate particles could be beneficial to the electrochemical performance of the aluminum alloy sacrificial anode.展开更多

文摘Aluminum alloy tubes were prepared by tube spinning. The intergranular and electrochemical corrosion tests were used to investigate the intergranular corrosion behavior of the 5A06 aluminum alloy blank sample and the spinning sample. Results showed that the intergranular corrosion resistance of the spinning sample was higher than that of the blank sample. In addition, the electrochemical corrosion resistance of the spinning sample was higher than that of the blank sample. The EDS maps indicated a uniform element distribution pattern of aluminum and magnesium. Moreover, the phase composition and lattice constant of the samples were obtained by XRD analysis. The differences in microstructure between the aluminum alloy subjected to the spinning process and the untreated aluminum alloy were determined by EBSD.The differences were mainly attributed to the complex interactions among grain size, dislocations and grain boundaries.
文摘The ongoing effort to create methods for detecting and quantifying fatigue damage is motivated by the high levels of uncertainty in present fatigue-life prediction approaches and the frequently catastrophic nature of fatigue failure. The fatigue life of high strength aluminum alloy 2090-T83 is predicted in this study using a variety of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for constant amplitude and negative stress ratios(R?1).Artificial neural networks(ANN),adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS),support-vector machines(SVM),a random forest model(RF),and an extreme-gradient tree-boosting model(XGB)are trained using numerical and experimental input data obtained from fatigue tests based on a relatively low number of stress measurements. In particular, the coefficients of the traditional force law formula are found using relevant numerical methods. It is shown that,in comparison to traditional approaches, the neural network and neuro-fuzzy models produce better results, with the neural network models trained using the boosting iterations technique providing the best performances.Building strong models from weak models,XGB helps to predict fatigue life by reducing model partiality and variation in supervised learning.Fuzzy neural models can be used to predict the fatigue life of alloys more accurately than neural networks and traditional methods.

文摘When aluminum alloys are coupled with dissimilar materials, they often act as corrosion anodes and are suscepted to accelerated corrosion. Therefore, deepening our knowledge of such corrosion phenomena, related mechanisms, and elaborating new prediction model is of great theoretical and practical significance. In this paper, such mechanisms are explained from both macroscopic and microscopic points of view by considering several aspects such as the second phase particle type, grain size, and environmental ions.More specifically, different perspectives on such a problem are elaborated, which take into account:the properties of the coupling pair materials, geometrical characteristics, environmental media characteristics, the corrosion regularity of different types of aluminum alloys, the influence of area ratio on anode corrosion current density, the interference of the solution primary ions represented by Cl-and the accompanying ions represented by Al3+.A review is also conducted of the standard test methods used in the study of aluminum alloys galvanic corrosion and of research methods such as the Wire Beam Electrodes Technology(WBE),the Scanning Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy(SKPFM)technology. Finally, three kinds of inhibition technologies are discussed, including the anodic oxidation treatment, the corrosion inhibitor treatment and the coating protection method.

文摘As a critical structure of aerospace equipment, aluminum alloy stiffened plate will influence the stability of spacecraft in orbit and the normal operation of the system. In this study,a GWO-ELM algorithm-based impact damage identification method is proposed for aluminum alloy stiffened panels to monitor and evaluate the damage condition of such stiffened panels of spacecraft.Firstly, together with numerical simulation, the experimental simulation to obtain the damage acoustic emission signals of aluminum alloy reinforced panels is performed,to establish the damage data.Subsequently, the amplitude-frequency characteristics of impact damage signals are extracted and put into an extreme learning machine(ELM)model to identify the impact location and damage degree, and the Gray Wolf Optimization(GWO)algorithm is employed to update the weight parameters of the model. Finally, experiments are conducted on the irregular aluminum alloy stiffened plate with the size of 2200 mm×500 mm×10 mm,the identification accuracy of impact position and damage degree is 98.90% and 99.55% in 68 test areas, respectively.Comparative experiments with ELM and backpropagation neural networks(BPNN)demonstrate that the impact damage identification of aluminum alloy stiffened plate based on GWO-ELM algorithm can serve as an effective way to monitor spacecraft structural damage.
文摘The microstructure of the thin-walled tubes with high-strength aluminum alloy determines their final forming quality and performance. The fine-grained area shows the states of concentration, dispersion, and re-concentration as the pass number increases. .
文摘In this paper, the composition, two-dimensional and three-dimensional microstructure of heat-resistant wrought aluminum alloy with strong oxidation resistance, heat resistance and easy processing are analyzed by using direct reading spectrometer, metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope. The mechanism of heat resistance, easy processing type and wear resistance is obtained, which provides the theoretical basis for the development and use of heat-resistant forged aluminum alloy.
文摘The Mg_(17)Al_(12)β-phase is highly influential to the performance of magnesium-aluminum high-pressure die-casting alloys. Numerous studies have investigated the effect of this phase on the room temperature and elevated-temperature mechanical properties as well as the corrosion, flammability, thermal conductivity and castability performance. This work summarizes the results of these works, as well as the studies that describe control of the Mg_(17)Al_(12)-phase through alloying additions that modify the microstructure and resulting alloy performance. The results of this work can be used as a basis for the development of alloying additions that enable modifications to the performance of high-pressure die-cast magnesium-aluminum-based alloys.
文摘Cu-Ni-Al alloys at different concentrations were obtained using a high frequency induction melting unit, keeping a balance in the nominal compositions. Wear results have indicated that aluminum addition affects positively the wear resistance, mainly in samples with high aluminum content product of the creation during the test of different oxides corresponding to the elements present in the alloys.
文摘In this investigation, the addition of several amounts of metal oxide particles (CuO2) in Al matrix is carried out due to the need to improve the mechanical properties such as the ductility of aluminum for applications in the electrical sector. The addition of metallic oxides in the Al matrix produces an improved electrical conductivity specifically in sample with 0.50 g of CuO2 additions.

文摘To eliminate the shrinkage porosity in low pressure casting of an A356 aluminum alloy intake manifold casting, numerical simulation on fi lling and solidifi cation processes of the casting was carried out using the ProCAST software. Finally, by using the optimized gating system the A356 aluminum alloy intake manifold casting with integrated shape and smooth surface as well as dense microstructure was successfully produced.
文摘The experiments focused on the influence of magnesium and titanium as additional alloying elements on the microstructure and electro-chemical behavior of Al-Zn-In sacrificial anodes. The equivalent circuit based on the EIS experimental data revealed less corrosion and lower adsorbed corrosion production on the surface of the aluminum alloy with a combination of 1 wt.% Mg and 0.05 wt.% Ti,which suggested that the corrosion behavior seemed to be strongly related to the presence of precipitate particles in the aluminum alloy, and moderate amounts of precipitate particles could be beneficial to the electrochemical performance of the aluminum alloy sacrificial anode.
