In this paper we consider general coupled mean-field reflected forward-backward stochastic differential equations(FBSDEs),whose coefficients not only depend on the solution but also on the law of the solution.The first part of the paper is devoted to the existence and the uniqueness of solutions for such general mean-field reflected backward stochastic differential equations(BSDEs)under Lipschitz conditions,and for the one-dimensional case a comparison theorem is studied.With the help of this comparison result,we prove the existence of the solution for our mean-field reflected forward-backward stochastic differential equation under continuity assumptions.It should be mentioned that,under appropriate assumptions,we prove the uniqueness of this solution as well as that of a comparison theorem for mean-field reflected FBSDEs in a non-trivial manner. 展开更多

Transition from backward to sideward stimulated Raman scattering with broadband lasers in plasmas

Broadband lasers have been proposed as future drivers of inertial confined fusion(ICF)to enhance the laser-target coupling efficiency via the mitigation of various parametric instabilities.The physical mechanisms involved have been explored recently,but are not yet fully understood.Here,stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)as one of the key parametric instabilities is investigated theoretically and numerically for a broadband laser propagating in homogeneous plasma in multidimensional geometry.The linear SRS growth rate is derived as a function of scattering angles for two monochromatic laser beams with a fixed frequency differenceδω.Ifδω/ω_(0)∼1%,withω0 the laser frequency,these two laser beams may be decoupled in stimulating backward SRS while remaining coupled for sideward SRS at the laser intensities typical for ICF.Consequently,side-scattering may dominate over backward SRS for two-color laser light.This finding of SRS transition from backward to sideward SRS is then generalized for a broadband laser with a few-percent bandwidth.Particle-in-cell simulations demonstrate that with increasing laser bandwidth,the sideward SRS gradually becomes dominant over the backward SRS.Since sideward SRS is very efficient in producing harmful hot electrons,attention needs to be paid on this effect if ultra-broadband lasers are considered as next-generation ICF drivers. 展开更多

This paper deals with the forward and backward problems for the nonlinear fractional pseudo-parabolic equation ut+(-Δ)^(s1)ut+β(-Δ)^(s2)u=F(u,x,t)subject o random Gaussian white noise for initial and final data.Under the suitable assumptions s1,s2andβ,we first show the ill-posedness of mild solutions for forward and backward problems in the sense of Hadamard,which are mainly driven by random noise.Moreover,we propose the Fourier truncation method for stabilizing the above ill-posed problems.We derive an error estimate between the exact solution and its regularized solution in an E‖·‖Hs22norm,and give some numerical examples illustrating the effect of above method. 展开更多

A pioneering glass-compatible transparent temperature alarm system self-powered by luminescent solar concentrators(LSCs) is reported.Single green-emitted organic manganese halides(OMHs) of PEA_(2)MnBr_(2)I_(2),which has a unique temperature-dependent backward energy transfer process from selftrapped state to^(4)T_(1)energy level of Mn,is used for triggering the temperature alarm.The LSC with redemitted CsPbI_(3)perovskite-polymer composite films on the glass substrate is used for power supply.The spectrally separated nature between the green-emitted OMHs for temperature alarm and red-emitted CsPbI3in LSC for power supply allows for probing the signal light of temperature-responsive OMHs without the interference of LSCs,making it possible to calibrate the temperature visually just by a self-powered brightness detection circuit with LED indicators.Taking advantage of LSC without hot spot effects plaguing the solar cells,as-prepared temperature alarm system can operate well on both sunny and cloudy day. 展开更多

Evaluation of corneal backward light scattering in type 2 diabetes mellitus

AIM:To compare the corneal backward light scattering values in type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM)patients with those of age and sex-matched healthy controls.METHODS:The study included 30 patients(30 eyes)with type 2 DM and 30 control subjects(30 eyes).Duration of diabetes,most recent hemoglobin A1c levels,along with the status of diabetic retinopathy,and existing medical treatment of all subjects were recorded.All subjects underwent a complete ophthalmologic examination.In addition,backward light scattering(densitometry)was measured to assess changes in corneal transparency using tomography(Pentacam HR).RESULTS:The type 2 DM patients included 12 males and 18 females and control subjects included 16 males and 14 females.The age was 50.40±7.80y(range:40-68y)of the diabetic group and 49.30±9.50y(rang:40-73y)of control group.The diabetic group demonstrated significantly higher mean densitometry values of the anterior(6-10 mm)zone(P=0.047),the total anterior layer(P=0.036)and the total cornea(P=0.043)than control group.The corneal densitometry of the diabetic eyes demonstrated no significant correlation with hemoglobin A1c levels and DM duration.CONCLUSION:Diabetic group has higher densitometry in anterior corneal(6-10 mm)zone,total anterior cornea,and total cornea and with no correlation with hemoglobin A1c levels and DM duration. 展开更多

Backward Support Computation Method for Positive and Negative Frequent Itemset Mining

Association rules mining is a major data mining field that leads to discovery of associations and correlations among items in today’s big data environment. The conventional association rule mining focuses mainly on positive itemsets generated from frequently occurring itemsets (PFIS). However, there has been a significant study focused on infrequent itemsets with utilization of negative association rules to mine interesting frequent itemsets (NFIS) from transactions. In this work, we propose an efficient backward calculating negative frequent itemset algorithm namely EBC-NFIS for computing backward supports that can extract both positive and negative frequent itemsets synchronously from dataset. EBC-NFIS algorithm is based on popular e-NFIS algorithm that computes supports of negative itemsets from the supports of positive itemsets. The proposed algorithm makes use of previously computed supports from memory to minimize the computation time. In addition, association rules, i.e. positive and negative association rules (PNARs) are generated from discovered frequent itemsets using EBC-NFIS algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is verified by several experiments and comparing results with e-NFIS algorithm. The experimental results confirm that the proposed algorithm successfully discovers NFIS and PNARs and runs significantly faster than conventional e-NFIS algorithm. 展开更多

The microstructure of the thin-walled tubes with high-strength aluminum alloy determines their final forming quality and performance. This type of tube can be manufactured by multi-pass hot power backward spinning process as it can eliminate casting defects, refine microstructure and improve the plasticity of the tube. To analyze the microstructure distribution characteristics of the tube during the spinning process, a 3D coupled thermo-mechanical FE model coupled with the microstructure evolution model of the process was established under the ABAQUS environment. The microstructure evolution characteristics and laws of the tube for the whole spinning process were analyzed. The results show that the dynamic recrystallization is mainly produced in the spinning deformation zone and root area of the tube. In the first pass, the dynamic recrystallization phenomenon is not obvious in the tube. With the pass increasing, the trend of dynamic recrystallization volume percentage gradually increases and extends from the outer surface of the tube to the inner surface. The fine-grained area shows the states of concentration, dispersion, and re-concentration as the pass number increases. . 展开更多

In this paper, a new traffic flow model called the forward-backward velocity difference (FBVD) model based on the full velocity difference model is proposed to investigate the backward-looking effect by applying a modified backward optimal velocity using generalized backward maximum speed. The FBVD model belongs to the family of microscopic models that consider spatiotemporally continuous formulations. Neutral stability conditions of the discrete car-following model are derived using the linear stability theory. The stability analysis results prove that the modified backward optimal velocity has a significant positive effect in stabilizing the traffic flow. Through nonlinear analysis, a kink-antikink solution is derived from the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation of the FBVD model to explain traffic congestion of the model. The validity of this theoretical model is checked using numerical results, according to which traffic jams were found to have been significantly diminished by the introduction of the modified backward optimal velocity. 展开更多

Gleeble-3500 thermal simulator was applied to realize the rotary backward extrusion forming of Mg-13Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.5Zr(wt%)alloy at different circumferential strain rate from 0.009 s^(-1)to 0.027 s^(-1)at 400℃and the dynamic recrystallization mechanism and texture evolution were studied.The results show that the grain size of the alloy was obviously refined after rotary backward extrusion.As the circumferenlial strain rate increased,the dynamic recrystallization fraction gradually increased causing the grain size decreased and the distribution of microstructure became more uniform.At the same time,the texture of{0001},{10-10},{11-20}was weakened and the grain orientation distribution became more random.With the increase of circumferential strain rate,the discontinuous dynamic recrystallization mechanism became dominant,which promoted the weakening of texture and grain refinement of the alloy. 展开更多

This study proposed an effective plastic deformation technique,rotating backward extrusion(RBE),for producing high performance AZ80 magnesium alloy cup-shaped pieces.The RBE process was carried on the Gleeble-3500 test machine at 653 K,and the conventional backward extrusion(CBE)was also conducted for comparison.A detailed microstructure analysis was performed using the optical microscopy(OM)and electron back-scatter diffraction(EBSD).The results shown that the equivalent strain and deformation uniformity of the cup pieces could be substantially increased by the RBE process compared with the CBE process.Furthermore,the RBE process could significantly improve the grain refining capacity and the proportion of dynamic recrystallization(DRX),of which the maximum reduction of grain size was 88.60%,and the maximum increase of DRX proportion was 55.30%in the cup bottom.The main deformation mechanism of the RBE process was the discontinuous DRX(DDRX),while the continuous DRX(CDRX)was also occurred in the cup transition.Compared with the CBE sample,the texture of the cup bottom was weakened for the RBE sample.The microhardness value of the RBE sample was higher than that of the CBE sample,which can be attributed to the grain refinement strengthening. 展开更多

The influence of temperature on the flow behavior and rheological characteristics of an A356 alloy in the semi-solid state was investigated using backward extrusion process.Experiments were performed at 5 temperatures and 4 different wall thicknesses.Viscosities were determined using the force-displacement graphs obtained form back extrusion tests.As observed experimentally,at a constant temperature,the increase of shear rate results in the decrease of alloy viscosity exponentially.Raising the temperature increases the liquid fraction hence reduces the semi-solid alloy viscosity.Metallographic and image analyses show that,because of low forming speed,liquid has time to escape from solid phase forward the sample wall.This condition is the main reason for the segregation phenomenon seen in the base and walls.Vickers hardness test on samples reveals that the hardness increases with the decrease of temperature and wall thickness. 展开更多

In this work, two types of predictability are proposed—forward and backward predictability—and then applied in the nonlinear local Lyapunov exponent approach to the Lorenz63 and Lorenz96 models to quantitatively estimate the local forward and backward predictability limits of states in phase space. The forward predictability mainly focuses on the forward evolution of initial errors superposed on the initial state over time, while the backward predictability is mainly concerned with when the given state can be predicted before this state happens. From the results, there is a negative correlation between the local forward and backward predictability limits. That is, the forward predictability limits are higher when the backward predictability limits are lower, and vice versa. We also find that the sum of forward and backward predictability limits of each state tends to fluctuate around the average value of sums of the forward and backward predictability limits of sufficient states.Furthermore, the average value is constant when the states are sufficient. For different chaotic systems, the average value is dependent on the chaotic systems and more complex chaotic systems get a lower average value. For a single chaotic system,the average value depends on the magnitude of initial perturbations. The average values decrease as the magnitudes of initial perturbations increase. 展开更多

Non-equilibrium turbulence phenomena have raised great interests in recent years. Significant efforts have been devoted to non-equilibrium turbulence properties in canonical flows, e.g., grid turbulence, turbulent wakes, and homogeneous isotropic turbulence(HIT). The non-equilibrium turbulence in non-canonical flows, however, has rarely been studied due to the complexity of the flows. In the present contribution, a directnumerical simulation(DNS) database of a turbulent flow is analyzed over a backwardfacing ramp, the flow near the boundary is demonstrated, and the non-equilibrium turbulent properties of the flow in the wake of the ramp are presented by using the characteristic parameters such as the dissipation coefficient C and the skewness of longitudinal velocity gradient Sk, but with opposite underlying turbulent energy transfer properties. The equation of Lagrangian velocity gradient correlation is examined, and the results show that non-equilibrium turbulence is the result of phase de-coherence phenomena, which is not taken into account in the modeling of non-equilibrium turbulence. These findings are expected to inspire deeper investigation of different non-equilibrium turbulence phenomena in different flow conditions and the improvement of turbulence modeling. 展开更多

The major issues related to film cooling are its poor coverage, aerodynamic loss, and increase of heat transfer coefficient due to strong flow mixing. To improve the cooling performance, this paper examined film cooling with backward injection. It is observed that film cooling with backward injection can produce much more uniform cooling coverage under different conditions, which include cases on flat surface with low or high pressure and temperature. The backward injection also performs better in the presence of blade curvature. The effect of other parameters on the film cooling is also reported. The numerical results are validated by simple experimental test in this study. 展开更多

An inverse analysis procedure has been developed to interpret collected pore pressure data and observations during backward erosion piping(BEP)initiation and progression in sandy soils.The procedure has been applied to laboratory models designed to mimic the initiation and progression of BEP through a constricted vertical outlet.The inverse analysis uses three-dimensional(3D)finite element method(FEM)to successively produce models of the hydraulic head regime surrounding progressive stages of BEP based on observations at the sample surface and pore pressure measurements obtained from the laboratory models.The inverse analysis results in a series of 3D contour plots that represent the hydraulic-head regime at each stage of the BEP development,allowing for assessing the development of BEP mechanism as well as calculating the critical hydraulic conditions required for various BEP stages to initiate and progress.Interpretation of the results identified four significant stages of the piping process:(1)loosened zone initiation,(2)channel initiation and progression,(3)riser sand fluidization,and(4)loosened zone progression.Interpretation of the hydraulic head contour plots allows assessment of the critical hydraulic gradients needed to initiate and progress various components of the BEP development. 展开更多
