Several neutrino observatories have searched for coincident neutrino signals associated with gravitational waves induced by the merging of two black holes. No statistically significant neutrino signal in excess of the background level was observed. These experiments use different neutrino detection technologies and are sensitive to various neutrino types. A combined analysis was performed on the KamLAND, Super-Kamiokande and Borexino experimental data with a frequentist statistical approach to achieve a global picture of the associated neutrino fluence. Both monochromatic and Fermi-Dirac neutrino spectra were assumed in the calculation. The final results are consistent with null neutrino signals associated with the process of a binary black hole merger. The derived 90% confidence level upper limits on the fluence and luminosity of various neutrino types are presented for neutrino energy less than110 MeV. 展开更多

We investigate the main features of a disformal Kerr black hole merger in quadratic degenerate higher-order scalar-tensor theories. In the ringdown stage of the black hole merger, for the prograde orbit, the real part of the quasinormal modes decreases with an increase in the disformal parameter, and the imaginary part also decreases, except in the Kerr case for a large spin parameter. However, for the retrograde orbit, the real part increases with an increase in the disformal parameter, and the imaginary part always decreases with it.For the approximate final spin, regardless of an equal spin, unequal spin,or generic spin configuration merger, the final black hole spin always increases with an increase in the disformal parameter. Our results show that the disformal parameter in the disformal Kerr solution and the MOG parameter in the Kerr-MOG case have obviously different effects on the black hole merger, which suggests the differences between these two spacetime structures. 展开更多

Gravitational waves have been detected in the past few years from several transient events such as merging stellar mass black holes, binary neutron stars, etc. These waves have frequencies in a band ranging from a few hundred hertz to around a kilohertz to which LIGO type instruments are sensitive. LISA would be sensitive to much lower range of frequencies from SMBH mergers. Apart from these cataclysmic burst events, there are innumerable sources of radiation which are continuously emitting gravitational waves of all frequencies. These include a whole mass range of compact binary and isolated compact objects as well as close planetary stellar entities. In this work, quantitative estimates are made of the gravitational wave background produced in typical frequency ranges from such sources emitting over a Hubble time and the fluctuations in the h values measured in the usual devices. Also estimates are made of the high frequency thermal background gravitational radiation from hot stellar interiors and newly formed compact objects. 展开更多

We have shown the outcome of N-body simulations of the interactions of two disc galaxies without gas with the same mass. Both disc galaxies have halos of dark matter, central bulges and initial supermassive black hole (SMBH) seeds at their centers. The purpose of this work is to study the mass and dynamical evolution of the initial SMBH seed during a Hubble cosmological time. It is a complementation of our previous paper with different initial orbit conditions and by introducing the SMBH seed in the initial galaxy. The disc of the secondary galaxy has a coplanar or polar orientation in relation to the disc of the primary galaxy and their initial orbit are eccentric and prograde. The primary and secondary galaxies have mass and size of Milky Way with an initial SMBH seed. We have found that the merger of the primary and secondary discs can result in a final normal disc or a final warped disc. After the fusion of discs, the final one is thicker and larger than the initial disc. The tidal effects are very important, modifying the evolution of the SMBH in the primary and secondary galaxy differently. The mass of the SMBH of the primary galaxy has increased by a factor ranging from 52 to 64 times the initial seed mass, depending on the experiment. However, the mass of the SMBH of the secondary galaxy has increased by a factor ranging from 6 to 33 times the initial SMBH seed mass, depending also on the experiment. Most of the accreted particles have come from the bulge and from the halo, depleting their particles. This could explain why the observations show that the SMBH with masses of approximatelyis found in many bulgeless galaxies. Only a small number of the accreted particles has come from the disc. In some cases of final merging stage of the two galaxies, the final SMBH of the secondary galaxy was ejected out of the galaxy. 展开更多
