METHODS:To determine the effects of blueberry on liver protective function, male mice were orally administered blueberry(0.6 g/10 g)or normal saline for 21 days.Hepatic RNA was extracted by Trizol reagent, and the expression of Nrf2,HO-1,and Nqo1 was determined by real-time RT- PCR.Superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde (MDA)in liver homogenate were determined, and liver index was measured. To assess the effects of blueberry on cellular immune function, male mice received blueberry(0.4,0.6,or 0.8 g/10 g)for 35 days, and the percentages of CD3 + ,CD4 + ,and CD8 + T lymphocyte subgroups in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry, the index of the thymus and spleen was measured, and lymphocyte proliferation in the spleen was determined by MTT assay. RESULTS:Blueberry treatment significantly increased the expression of Nrf2,HO-1,and Nqo1,the important antioxidant components in the liver.Hepatic SOD in the blueberry group was higher and MDA was lower than that in the control group (P【0.05).Blueberry also increased the index of the spleen and enhanced the proliferation of lymphocytes of the spleen (P【0.05).The percentages of the CD3 + and CD4 + T lymphocyte subsets and the CD4 + /CD8 + ratio were also increased by blueberry(P【0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Blueberry induces expression of Nrf2,HO-1,and Nqo1,which can protect hepatocytes from oxidative stress. In addition, blueberry can modulate T-cell function in mice.展开更多

To explore the effect and probable mechanism of the adaptation of grafted blueberry( Vaccinium spp.) saplings to the soil environment with higher p H value. We took three types of saplings,( i) own-rooted Wufanshu( V. bracteatum),an economical shrub belonging to the same genus and family with blueberry, also known as oriental blueberry,( ii) own-rooted‘Sharpblue',a southern highbush blueberry( V. corymbosum) cultivar, and( iii) grafted-bluebedrry as experimental materials, which were grown in quartz sand medium for 90 d,irrigated with nutrient solution of three levels of p H values, respectively,i. e. p H 4. 6,p H 5. 8 and p H7. 0. Results showed that root development, shoot growth and dry biomass accumulation of grafted blueberry were significantly better than those of own-rooted blueberry grown in higher p H medium; compared with own-rooted blueberry saplings, leaf chlorophyll content, chlorophyll a/b ratio, chlorophyll fluorescence chemical efficiency and photosynthetic efficiency of grafted blueberry saplings grown in higher p H medium were all significantly improved. Results also showed that mineral element content of leaves, especially Mg and Fe elemental content of grafted blueberry was significantly higher than that of own-rooted blueberry saplings grown in higher p H media. Grafting-propagation of blueberry saplings taking Wufanshu as rootstock significantly enhanced the adaptation of blueberry to soil environment with higher p H value.展开更多

Plant cultures were developed in a controlled environment with 0.4 MPa CO2 enrichment, sucrose-reduced medium, and light intensity of 60 mM m-2·s-1. Principal component analysis showed that component 1 (C1) grouped 64.08% of the total variability, while the first two components accounted for 86.97%. Representation of the principal components demonstrated three clusters corresponding with the blueberry genotypes, and within each cluster plants micropropagated in agar-base medium grouped separately from those plants multiplied in TIBs. Both plant number and total internodes traits (related to the productive efficiency) were demonstrated superior in blueberries propagated in TIBs. Additionally, when transferred to greenhouse conditions, blueberries propagated in TIBs showed higher adaptability and growing rates than those cultured by the conventional approach, altogether evidencing the occurrence of a photomixotrophic stage in the vitroplantlets cultured in TIBs.展开更多

It contains a great amount of anthocyanin, organic acid and fiber, which significantly affects sensory evaluation, pH value, texture profile analysis (TPA) and microstructure. This study determined the effect of blueberry pulp on spreadable processed cheese through examining pH value, TPA, microstructure and color-difference. The results showed that increased blueberry content lowered pH value, remarkably transformed microstructure and TPA (P<0.05). Overloaded fiber in blueberry ruined the network structure of casein gel, thus 10% of blueberry performed better, more than that additive volume, sensory evaluation was worsen and gel structure was spoiled gradually. The blueberry sample lowered L*, b* and slightly increased a*, resulting in blueberry samples presented light amethyst, while sterilizing samples presented dark pink because of the lost of anthocyanin.展开更多

Blueberry as the raw material, the microwave power, initial moisture content, puffing time and mass were employed as experimental factors. The pressure, temperature, amount of water vapor and puffing properties in terms of the volume, hardness and brittleness were employed as target parameters. The higher microwave intensity and initial moisture content resulted in the more amount of water vapor in the snacks and more holes in the appropriate puffing time. The shape and structure of the snacks tended to be stable with the removal of moisture.展开更多

Alternaria tenuissima and Pestalotiopsis guepinii have been reported as pathogens of blueberry, causing leaf spots and branch cankers. The aims of this research were to estimate the prevalence of these microorganisms on leaves and fruits taken from crops located in Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires, as well as to differentiate leaf symptoms after target inoculations with each pathogen individually and in mixtures. Both fungi were present in blueberry fields from 2010 to 2013. A. tenuissima was the most prevalent pathogen, as most of the symptoms detected in the fields had been caused by this species. As a result of inoculations on cv. O’Neal, injured tissues showed symptoms before undamaged ones. Leaf symptoms caused by A. tenuissima differed from those caused by P. guepinii because of their predominant reddish color and the absence of drop-off of the central part of the lesions. When inoculated in a mixture, incubation period on leaves was intermediate between the registered for individual inoculations. The leaves showed reddishbrown spots typical of A. tenuissima and dark brown spots typical of P. guepinii, both with red margins. Blight, defoliation and canker symptoms caused in each case were undistinguishable.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND:Conventional drugs used in the treatment and prevention of liver diseases often have side effects, therefore research into natural substances are of significance. This study examined the effects of blueberry on liver protection and cellular immune functions. In addition, blueberry can modulate T-cell function in mice.

文摘HCC(Hepatocellular Carcinoma)is a critical health issue worldwide. Our previous animal experiment has confirmed that blueberry malvidin-3-galactoside(M3G)can regulate the progression of HCC.In this study, feces samples from the same batch of mice were collected to explore the regulatory mechanism of M3G on intestinal microbiota and microbial TCA cycle metabolism KEGG pathway in HCC mice based on 16S rRNA sequencing and metagenomics. Our results showed that blueberry M3G increased the microbial diversity and regulated the structure of intestinal microbiota in mice, such as increasing the abundance of Clostridia(butyric acid-producing bacteria),Oscillospira and Ruminococcus, and reducing the abundance of pathogenic Erysipelotrichi.Compared with the group of liver cancer and 5-fluorouracil,blueberry M3G significantly regulated microbial TCA cycle KEGG pathway via improving the expression of key proteins(porA,DLAT,aceE,PC and OGDH).Additionally,we found which the abundance of Muribaculum intestinale increased by blueberry M3G may be an important factor affecting the microbial TCA cycle KEGG pathway via the pearson correlation(R)analysis of protein and microbiota.Taken together, these results demonstrate that the blueberry M3G has the potential to be an intestinal microbiota regulator and an adjuvant to HCC therapy.

文摘The adaptation of blueberry to higher soil p H is poor. Grafting-propagation of blueberry saplings taking Wufanshu as rootstock significantly enhanced the adaptation of blueberry to soil environment with higher p H value.
文摘A new procedure for blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) micropropagation in programmed Temporary Immersion Bioreactors (TIBs based on two separate bottles) was developed for the commercial genotypes Biloxi, Sharp Blue and Brillita. Additionally, when transferred to greenhouse conditions, blueberries propagated in TIBs showed higher adaptability and growing rates than those cultured by the conventional approach, altogether evidencing the occurrence of a photomixotrophic stage in the vitroplantlets cultured in TIBs.

文摘By using the meteorological data,GIS data and blueberry production data of Nanchong and the surrounding areas in Nanchong from 1991 to 2022,the climate ecological suitability of blueberry was analyzed based on the growth habit of blueberry, and the restrictive and high-impact factors were selected as zoning indicators to carry out climate ecological zoning. The results show that Nanchong has a humid climate, and the annual average temperature in most parts is 15.0-17.8℃;the cold temperature duration in winter is more than 770 h,and the average maximum temperature in July is more than 30.0℃,so it is suitable for planting southern high-bush blueberry,rabbit-eye blueberry and a hybrid of northern and southern high-bush blueberry.Sunshine, high temperature in midsummer, daily temperature range at the fruiting stage and terrain slope are the main limiting or high-impact ecological factors of blueberry production in Nanchong, among which the adverse effect of insufficient sunshine is the largest. The meteorological disasters affecting blueberry production in Nanchong mainly include rainy weather, rainstorm and flood, high temperature and drought.High temperature and heavy heat damage in midsummer in areas at an altitude below 400 m have a great impact on the production of late-maturing blueberry.High temperature and summer drought are often accompanied in the southeast, which will aggravate the adverse effects. The suitable area of blueberry in Nanchong is mainly distributed in the shallow hilly area and the low-mountain deep hilly and gentle slope area at an altitude of 350-700 m.The less suitable area is mainly distributed in the flat dam area of shallow hill-valley at an altitude of below 350 m,the low-mountain area at an altitude of above 700 m,and other hilly areas with a slope of 15-30°.The unsuitable area is mainly distributed in hills with slope>30°,some sporadic shallow hills and flat dams at an altitude of below 300 m,river banks, water wetland buffer zones, etc. In order to make full use of the climate resources and the advantages of blueberry varieties,early-and medium-maturing southern high-bush varieties should be mainly planted in the low-altitude area below 400 m in Nanchong, and medium-and late-maturing varieties should be mainly planted in the medium-altitude area above 400 m.

文摘Deactivation of polyphenol oxidase(PPO)in natural products is essential for downstream processing of functional molecules used as food or food additives, particularly those served as antioxidants. In the present work,we identified two proteins with PPO activity from lowbush blueberry using ammonium sulphate precipitation and chromatography procedures.Deactivation of these proteins was studied using aqueous solutions of ethanol of different concentrations. The PPO activity was recovered after ethanol removal for the protein samples previously soaked in a lowconcentration ethanol solution.A complete and unrecoverable deactivation of the proteins was achieved using ethanol with concentration over 70%(v/v),as manifested by the significant changes in circular dichroism(CD)and fluorescence spectroscopy measurements.Based on these findings,we propose a new extraction process for blueberry anthocyanin,in which an ethanol shock,i.e.soaking blueberry fruit in a 70%(v/v)ethanol solution for 1 h,is implemented before subsequent procedures. This new process increases the anthocyanin yield by 55%in comparison to that without the ethanol shock.
文摘Corn starch, glycerol and agroindustrial residues were used to produce films by casting.By-products from juice processing, blueberry and jaboticaba in powder with different particle sizes were added in the filmogenic matrix to evaluate its potential as a colorimetric indicator.Blueberry and jaboticaba peels are commonly discarded although contain high amount of important compounds as anthocyanins. These compounds have the ability to color change after immersion in different pH values, demonstrating its potential for the intelligent packaging development.Analyses were performed in a colorimeter after films immersion in different buffer solutions.Visual color changes were perceived;reddish and bluish color in acidic and basic pH values, respectively.Independently of the particle size, theΔE* values were greater than 5,showing visually perceptible change to the human eye.The results indicate the potential of use of these residues as a pH indicator for the development of renewable and biodegradable sensor of food deterioration.

文摘Blueberry is a kind of wild berry with high nutrition values. The blueberry sample lowered L*, b* and slightly increased a*, resulting in blueberry samples presented light amethyst, while sterilizing samples presented dark pink because of the lost of anthocyanin.

文摘In order to reveal the mechanism of microwave puffing berry snack, a center combination experiment method was employed to explore the puffing process of blueberry snacks. The shape and structure of the snacks tended to be stable with the removal of moisture.

文摘The root system plays an important role in the growth and development of blueberry. The aim of this study was to assess the impacts of different fertilizers on the root growth and root–yield relationship of blueberry to provide insight into the regulation of root growth and fruit yield by fertilizing from the perspective of the root system.Rabbiteye blueberry variety‘Britewell’as the test material, and six fertilizers, including BF,OR,CF,SF,HF,and RT were used in single-factor fertilization experiments to analyze the effects of different fertilizer treatments on the root morphology, root distribution, and fruit yield of blueberry.Fertilization overall increased the root length density and root surface area in most soil layers, and the RT treatment significantly increased the total root length density and total root surface area 98.6%and 98.5%,respectively,compared with a control lacking fertilizer. In addition, the effect of fertilization on the blueberry root system was mainly observed in the 0–20 cm layer.Fruit yield was positively correlated with total root length density and total root surface area, and negatively correlated with average root diameter. In summary, the SF and RT treatments increased the morphological indexes of the root system, particularly in the shallow soil layers, leading to an increase in blueberry fruit yield.

文摘The protective effects of blueberry anthocyanin extracts against damage induced by extremely lowfrequency electromagnetic field(ELF-EMF)were investigated in a rat model.Wistar rats were exposed to ELF-EMF with or without the administration of blueberry anthocyanin extracts(50,100,and 200 mg/kg per day intragastrically once a day)for 30 days.Blueberry anthocyanin extracts supplementation inhibited the decrease in Nissl substance levels, cell membrane integrity, and mitochondrial membrane potential induced by ELF-EMF;prevented the increase in nitric oxide, malondialdehyde, and Ca2+concentrations;suppressed superoxide dismutase and glutathione depletion;and enhanced the cognitive ability of the rats exposed to ELF-EMF.The protective effects of blueberry anthocyanin extracts against hippocampal neuron injury caused by ELF-EMF were dose-dependent.These results demonstrated that blueberry anthocyanin extracts suppress hippocampal neuron injury caused by ELF-EMF by inhibiting cell membrane damage and oxidative stress pathways, and suggested that blueberry anthocyanin treatment potentially prevents hippocampal neuron injury.

文摘[Objective] The paper was to clear the control efficiency of drug painting on different pruning wounds and different pruning lengths against secondary infection of blueberry twig blight. [Method] With self-made cream, heal wound and 10 times 45% lime sulfur as materials, the control effects against blueberry twig blight by different lengths of pruning and painting different creams were studied. [Result] The probability of infection was lower when the pruning wounds were farther way from the diseased branches. Pruning branches at 15 cm away from infected symptoms and painting wounds with self-made cream received the best effort. The control efficacy of painting self-made cream was 100% in the first year, and 85. 71% in the following year. The control efficacy of painting heal wound was 55% in the first year, and 22. 63% in the following year. The control efficacy of painting lime sulfur was 42. 07% in the first year, and 30. 56% in the following year. [Conclusion] Pruning branches at 15 cm away from infected symptoms and painting wounds with self-made cream could reduce the secondary infection of newborn branches.
文摘About 60% of blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) plantations in Argentina are located in the provinces of Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires. Blight, defoliation and canker symptoms caused in each case were undistinguishable.
