GIS analysis of topographic data and geological mapping revealed flanks of raised terraces created on Quaternary marine deposits. Luminescence ages of sediments from the three westernmost marine terraces tend to be consistent OIS-5, OIS-7 and OIS-9, respectively, thus agreeing with the three latest warm stages of the Pleistocene. Moreover, the type and the extent of deformation of the dated marine terraces allowed us to reflect on the neotectonic configuration of western Messenia as well as to conclude that progressive differential uplift over the last 300 ka has induced a dome-like structure to the upper crust of western Messenia.展开更多

Under excitation of 380 nm, strong green light-emitting locating at 517 nm with the fluorescence quantum yield of 0.88 in CH2Cl2 has been obtained. In the presence of b-cyclodextrin (b-CD), strong blue-emitting at 456 nm in DMF was also recorded.展开更多

In early stage, scientists and technicians mainly focused on the realization of automatic identification of seismic phases and automatic positioning in the network data processing system. Then,at the end of the Tenth "Five-Year Plan "project,Fujian Earthquake Agency, Guangdong Earthquake Agency, and China Earthquake Networks Center have independently developed their earthquake automatic quick report systems. Later,by taking advantage of the"multi-channel comprehensive trigger " mechanism, China Earthquake Networks Center has innovated a comprehensive trigger system for automatic earthquake quick report, whereby earthquake information can be instantly reported and presented on Weibo,Wechat, and CENC App.展开更多

Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria(AAPB) are an important bacterial functional group with capability of harvesting light energy and wide distribution, and appear to have a particular role in the ocean's carbon cycling. Yet the global pattern of AAPB distribution was controversial at the beginning of the 21 st century due to the defects of the AAPB enumeration methods. An advanced time-series observation-based infrared epifluorescence microscopy(TIREM) approach was established to amend the existing AAPB quantitative deviation and led to the accurate enumeration of AAPB in marine environments. The abundance of AAPB and AAPB% were higher in coastal and continental shelf waters than in oceanic waters, which does not support the idea that AAPB are specifically adapted to oligotrophic conditions due to photosynthesis in AAPB acting a supplement to their organic carbon respiration. Further investigation revealed that dependence of AAPB on dissolved organic carbon produced by phytoplankton(PDOC) may limit their competition and control AAPB distribution. So, the selection of carbon sources by AAPB indicated that they can effectively fractionate the carbon flow in the sea. Enlightened by these findings, the following studies on the interactions between marine microbes and DOC led to the discovery of a new mechanism of marine carbon sequestration—the Microbial Carbon Pump(MCP). The conceptual framework of MCP addresses the sources and mechanism of the vast DOC reservoir in the ocean and represents a breakthrough in the theory of ocean carbon sequestration.展开更多
