Meth...Purpose: This study aimed to develop teaching materials to prevent the dangers of ablution and bathing infants, based on the dangerous experiences of mothers and family members, and examine their appropriateness. Methods: A total of 20 midwives and public health nurses were selected as participants. Teaching materials and anonymous self-administered questionnaires were distributed, and the participants were asked to view the teaching materials and fill in the questionnaires. Retrieval was done by mail. The teaching materials included digital content, such as videos, sounds, and characters, which incorporated dangerous situations, preventions, and innovations in ablution and bathing procedures. The analysis was conducted by simple tabulation for each survey item. The free description was coded to preserve anonymity. This study was conducted with the approval of the Research Ethics Review Board of the authors’ affiliated university. Results: The teaching materials were found to be appropriate in terms of suitability to purpose, degree of difficulty of content, ease of viewing the videos, validity of time, appropriateness of expression, and usability. Conclusions: Ablution teaching materials that are used at the present time do not focus on dangers, and to date, no resources on bathing have been used as teaching materials. The created teaching materials in this study can be viewed multiple times, and mothers and family members who are unfamiliar with ablution and bathing can acquire knowledge regarding dangers and danger prevention. The addition of specific preventive measures and countermeasures for the occurrence of danger, along with practice, would result in the development of further appropriate teaching materials to reduce danger and alleviate anxiety.展开更多

Consumption of alcohol and other alcoholic beverages is widespread in Uganda and it is the highest per capita consumer of alcohol in Africa. Many households are involved in informal alcohol production for income purpo...Consumption of alcohol and other alcoholic beverages is widespread in Uganda and it is the highest per capita consumer of alcohol in Africa. Many households are involved in informal alcohol production for income purposes, resulting in alcohol being easily available. Alcohol is consumed mostly by adults and young adults, waragi (a local brew) being high on the menu. There is a high prevalence of alcohol consumption at Makerere University so in our study we set out to assess the knowledge about dangers of alcohol consumption among these students. It was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The target population was undergraduate students of Makerere University. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and focus group discussions. We interviewed 435 University students, 236 (54.3%) males and 199 (45.7%) females. Median age was 21 years, similar across gender. There were more participants from year one to three compared to years four and five. Majority of the students were consuming alcohol 242 (55.6%), 49 (11.3%) had stopped and 144 (33.1%) had never consumed alcohol. A higher proportion of males consumed alcohol compared to females; 60.2% and 50.2% respectively. Some reasons given for alcohol consumption were: peer pressure, coping with stressful situations, celebration and the need for adventure. The students were knowledgeable about the dangers of alcohol consumption like liver disease, violence, mental illness, cancer, diabetes mellitus, financial loss and death. Despite the vast knowledge about the dangers of alcohol consumption, some students were reluctant to stop consuming alcohol, so fighting this habit in this population is important. Parents and students need to be mindful of where to reside so as to avoid bad company. Background:Self-medication is a common practice among pregnant mothers in many developing countries Uganda inclusive.Despite its adverse effects to the pregnant mother and the developing fetus,limited efforts are in p...Background:Self-medication is a common practice among pregnant mothers in many developing countries Uganda inclusive.Despite its adverse effects to the pregnant mother and the developing fetus,limited efforts are in place to reduce the practice.This study was conducted to assess the practices and knowledge of the dangers of self-medication among pregnant mothers attending antenatal care in Iganga district,Uganda.Method s:A cross sectional approach was employed using convenient sampling technique among 181 pregnant mothers at the antenatal clinic.An interviewer administered questionnaire was used to collect data that was analyzed descriptively using SPSS software.Results:Out of the 181 respondents,119(65.75%)self-medicated during their current pregnancy obtaining drugs from pharmacies 42(23.20%).Majority of the mothers 129(71.27%)had good knowledge concerning the dangers of self-medication with 66.85%reporting that it was a bad practice.Regarding the dangers of self-medication,23.76%reported fetal death while 24.86%stated miscarriages.There was a significant association between self-medication practice and occupation(P-value=0.04;OR=1.21 at 95%CI).Conclusion:Self-medication remains a common practice among pregnant mothers in Iganga district despite the fact that a large proportion of them have good knowledge regarding the dangers of self-medication.Therefore,further investigations into the associated factors and strict measures to combat the risks of self-medication during pregnancy should be embarked on.展开更多

Improving the danger prediction during driving can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.However,previous danger prediction training systems had not been sufficiently effective owing to the lack of realism.In thi...Improving the danger prediction during driving can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.However,previous danger prediction training systems had not been sufficiently effective owing to the lack of realism.In this study,we propose an immersive training system for danger prediction training using virtual reality(VR)technology.This system provides drivers with a highly realistic training environment with 360°videos viewed with VR goggles.Users can practice various dangerous scenarios in an environment that simulates a real-driving situation.In addition,we introduced a system to select dangerous spots with a controller and implement training schemes on a voluntary basis.This setup enables them to train in a highly interactive state.In addition,we proposed a method to express multiple indices numerically so that users can understand the training effect.We tested the effect of the system on the danger prediction abilities of various users with two experiments by using this approach.These results show that our system was more effective in improving the driver’s danger prediction ability than previous systems.展开更多

Purpose–Safety management is a key point and poses a challenge in joint testing.To detect and address potential accidents’hidden dangers early,this paper conducts research on the safety control technology for high-s...Purpose–Safety management is a key point and poses a challenge in joint testing.To detect and address potential accidents’hidden dangers early,this paper conducts research on the safety control technology for high-speed railway joint tests by incorporating the concept of hazardous events.Design/methodology/approach–Aiming at ensuring the safety of high-speed railway combined inspections and trials,this paper starts from the dual prevention mechanism.It introduces the concept of threatening events,defines them and analyzes the differences between threatening events and railway accidents.The paper also proposes a cause model for threatening events in high-speed railway combined inspections and trials,based on three types of hazard sources.Furthermore,it conducts research on the control strategies for these threatening events.Findings–The research on safety control technology for high-speed railway combined operation and testing,based on the analysis of threatened events,offers a new perspective for safety management in these operations.It also provides theoretical and practical support for the transition from passive prevention to active risk pre-control,which holds significant theoretical and practical value.Originality/value–The innovation mainly includes the following three aspects:(1)Building on the traditional dual prevention mechanism,which includes risk hierarchical management and control as well as hidden danger investigation and management,a triple prevention mechanism is proposed.This new mechanism adds the management of threatening events as the third line of defense.The aim is to more comprehensively identify and address potential security risks,thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of security management.(2)In this paper,the definition of a railway threatening event is clarified,and the causative model of a high-speed railway threatening event based on three kinds of danger sources is proposed.(3)This paper puts forward the control strategy of the high-speed railway combined operation and trial,which includes five key links:identification,reporting,analysis,rectification and feedback,which provides a new perspective for the safety management of the high-speed railway combined operation and trial and has important theoretical and application value.展开更多

Driv...In-cab alerts warn commercial vehicle drivers of upcoming roadway incidents, slowdowns and work zone construction activities. This paper reports on a study evaluating the driver response to in-cab alerts in Ohio. Driver response was evaluated by measuring the statistical trends of vehicle speeds after the in-cab alerts were received. Vehicle speeds pre and post in-cab alert were collected over a 47 day period in the fall of 2023 for trucks traveling on interstate roadways in Ohio. Results show that approximately 22% of drivers receiving Dangerous Slowdown alerts had reduced their speeds by at least 5 mph 30 seconds after receiving such an alert. Segmenting this analysis by speed found that of vehicles traveling at or above 70 mph at the time of alerting, 26% reduced speeds by at least 5 mph. These speed reductions suggest drivers taking actional measures after receiving alerts. Future studies will involve further analysis on the impact of the types of alerts shown, roadway characteristics and overall traffic conditions on truck speeds passing through work zones.展开更多

Currently,it is difficult to extract the depth feature of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity signal,which leads to a decline in the accuracy and efficiency of the frontal emergency stops the dangerous acti...Currently,it is difficult to extract the depth feature of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity signal,which leads to a decline in the accuracy and efficiency of the frontal emergency stops the dangerous activ-ity.Therefore,a recognition for frontal emergency stops dangerous activity algorithm based on Nano Internet of Things Sensor(NIoTS)and transfer learning is proposed.First,the NIoTS is installed in the athlete’s leg muscles to collect activity signals.Second,the noise component in the activity signal is removed using the de-noising method based on mathematical morphology.Finally,the depth feature of the activity signal is extracted through the deep transfer learning model,and the Euclidean distance between the extracted feature and the depth feature of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity signal is compared.If the European distance is small,it can be judged as the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity,and the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity recognition is realized.The results show that the average time delay of activity signal acquisition of the algorithm is low,the signal-to-noise ratio of the action signal is high,and the activity signal mean square error is low.The variance of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity recognition does not exceed 0.5.The difference between the appearance time of the dangerous activity and the recognition time of the algorithm is 0.15 s,it can accurately and quickly recognize the frontal emergency stops the dangerous activity.展开更多
Emotion recognition based on facial expressions is one of the most critical elements of human-machine interfaces.Most conventional methods for emotion recognition using facial expressions use the entire facial image t...Emotion recognition based on facial expressions is one of the most critical elements of human-machine interfaces.Most conventional methods for emotion recognition using facial expressions use the entire facial image to extract features and then recognize specific emotions through a pre-trained model.In contrast,this paper proposes a novel feature vector extraction method using the Euclidean distance between the landmarks changing their positions according to facial expressions,especially around the eyes,eyebrows,nose,andmouth.Then,we apply a newclassifier using an ensemble network to increase emotion recognition accuracy.The emotion recognition performance was compared with the conventional algorithms using public databases.The results indicated that the proposed method achieved higher accuracy than the traditional based on facial expressions for emotion recognition.In particular,our experiments with the FER2013 database show that our proposed method is robust to lighting conditions and backgrounds,with an average of 25% higher performance than previous studies.Consequently,the proposed method is expected to recognize facial expressions,especially fear and anger,to help prevent severe accidents by detecting security-related or dangerous actions in advance.展开更多
When using high-voltage transmission lines for energy transmission in loess hilly regions,local extreme wind fields such as turbulence and high-speed cyclones occur from time to time,which can cause many kinds of mech...When using high-voltage transmission lines for energy transmission in loess hilly regions,local extreme wind fields such as turbulence and high-speed cyclones occur from time to time,which can cause many kinds of mechanical and electrical failures,seriously affecting the reliable and stable energy transmission of the power grid.The existing research focuses on the wind field simulation of ideal micro-terrain and actual terrain with mostly single microterrain characteristics.Model boundary constraints and the influence of constrained boundaries are the main problems that need to be solved to accurately model and simulate complex flow fields.In this paper,a flow field simulation method based on circular boundary constraints is carried out.During the study,the influence of the model boundary and the selection conditions of themodeling range are systematically analyzed.It is more suitable to make sure that the air domain is 4 times higher than the height of the hill undulations,in addition to ensuring that there should be a minimum of 400 m between the study region and the boundary.Then,an actual terrain model of a power grid line in Shanxi is established,through the method proposed in this paper,the wind speed at the location of the transmission tower line under different wind directions is analyzed,and it is found that when the incidence direction is 45 degrees north by east the wind speed is the highest.The findings demonstrate that the circular boundary model has the advantage of more easily adjusting the wind incidence direction,in addition to theoretically reducing the errors caused by traditional models in boundary processing.It can accurately obtain the distribution characteristics of the flow field affected by the terrain,and quickly screen out the extreme working conditions that are most harmful to the transmission lines in the actual transmission line for energy transmission in complex loess hilly regions.展开更多

Some reasons given for alcohol consumption were: peer pressure, coping with stressful situations, celebration and the need for adventure. The students were knowledgeable about the dangers of alcohol consumption like liver disease, violence, mental illness, cancer, diabetes mellitus, financial loss and death. Despite the vast knowledge about the dangers of alcohol consumption, some students were reluctant to stop consuming alcohol, so fighting this habit in this population is important. Parents and students need to be mindful of where to reside so as to avoid bad company. Some of the students who stopped consuming alcohol attributed it to concern from a relative, friend or health worker, so involving the entire public could go a long way in the fight against alcohol abuse as well as strict regulation of physical availability of alcohol on the university campus.Abstract: Consumption of alcohol and other alcoholic beverages is widespread in Uganda and it is the highest per capita consumer of alcohol in Africa. Many households are involved in informal alcohol production for income purposes, resulting in alcohol being easily available. Alcohol is consumed mostly by adults and young adults, waragi (a local brew) being high on the menu. There is a high prevalence of alcohol consumption at Makerere University so in our study we set out to assess the knowledge about dangers of alcohol consumption among these students. It was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The target population was undergraduate students of Makerere University. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and focus group discussions. We interviewed 435 University students, 236 (54.3%) males and 199 (45.7%) females. Median age was 21 years, similar across gender. There were more participants from year one to three compared to years four and five. Majority of the students were consuming alcohol 242 (55.6%), 49 (11.3%) had stopped and 144 (33.1%) had never consumed alcohol. A higher proportion of males consumed alcohol compared to females; 60.2% and 50.2% respectively. 文摘Background:Self-medication is a common practice among pregnant mothers in many developing countries Uganda inclusive.Despite its adverse effects to the pregnant mother and the developing fetus,limited efforts are in place to reduce the practice.This study was conducted to assess the practices and knowledge of the dangers of self-medication among pregnant mothers attending antenatal care in Iganga district,Uganda.Method s:A cross sectional approach was employed using convenient sampling technique among 181 pregnant mothers at the antenatal clinic.An interviewer administered questionnaire was used to collect data that was analyzed descriptively using SPSS software.Results:Out of the 181 respondents,119(65.75%)self-medicated during their current pregnancy obtaining drugs from pharmacies 42(23.20%).Majority of the mothers 129(71.27%)had good knowledge concerning the dangers of self-medication with 66.85%reporting that it was a bad practice.Regarding the dangers of self-medication,23.76%reported fetal death while 24.86%stated miscarriages.There was a significant association between self-medication practice and occupation(P-value=0.04;OR=1.21 at 95%CI).Conclusion:Self-medication remains a common practice among pregnant mothers in Iganga district despite the fact that a large proportion of them have good knowledge regarding the dangers of self-medication.Therefore,further investigations into the associated factors and strict measures to combat the risks of self-medication during pregnancy should be embarked on.

文摘Improving the danger prediction during driving can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.However,previous danger prediction training systems had not been sufficiently effective owing to the lack of realism.In this study,we propose an immersive training system for danger prediction training using virtual reality(VR)technology.This system provides drivers with a highly realistic training environment with 360°videos viewed with VR goggles.Users can practice various dangerous scenarios in an environment that simulates a real-driving situation.In addition,we introduced a system to select dangerous spots with a controller and implement training schemes on a voluntary basis.This setup enables them to train in a highly interactive state.In addition,we proposed a method to express multiple indices numerically so that users can understand the training effect.We tested the effect of the system on the danger prediction abilities of various users with two experiments by using this approach.These results show that our system was more effective in improving the driver’s danger prediction ability than previous systems.

文摘Purpose–Safety management is a key point and poses a challenge in joint testing.To detect and address potential accidents’hidden dangers early,this paper conducts research on the safety control technology for high-speed railway joint tests by incorporating the concept of hazardous events.Design/methodology/approach–Aiming at ensuring the safety of high-speed railway combined inspections and trials,this paper starts from the dual prevention mechanism.It introduces the concept of threatening events,defines them and analyzes the differences between threatening events and railway accidents.The paper also proposes a cause model for threatening events in high-speed railway combined inspections and trials,based on three types of hazard sources.Furthermore,it conducts research on the control strategies for these threatening events.Findings–The research on safety control technology for high-speed railway combined operation and testing,based on the analysis of threatened events,offers a new perspective for safety management in these operations.It also provides theoretical and practical support for the transition from passive prevention to active risk pre-control,which holds significant theoretical and practical value.Originality/value–The innovation mainly includes the following three aspects:(1)Building on the traditional dual prevention mechanism,which includes risk hierarchical management and control as well as hidden danger investigation and management,a triple prevention mechanism is proposed.This new mechanism adds the management of threatening events as the third line of defense.The aim is to more comprehensively identify and address potential security risks,thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of security management.(2)In this paper,the definition of a railway threatening event is clarified,and the causative model of a high-speed railway threatening event based on three kinds of danger sources is proposed.(3)This paper puts forward the control strategy of the high-speed railway combined operation and trial,which includes five key links:identification,reporting,analysis,rectification and feedback,which provides a new perspective for the safety management of the high-speed railway combined operation and trial and has important theoretical and application value.
文摘In-cab alerts warn commercial vehicle drivers of upcoming roadway incidents, slowdowns and work zone construction activities. This paper reports on a study evaluating the driver response to in-cab alerts in Ohio. Driver response was evaluated by measuring the statistical trends of vehicle speeds after the in-cab alerts were received. Vehicle speeds pre and post in-cab alert were collected over a 47 day period in the fall of 2023 for trucks traveling on interstate roadways in Ohio. Results show that approximately 22% of drivers receiving Dangerous Slowdown alerts had reduced their speeds by at least 5 mph 30 seconds after receiving such an alert. Segmenting this analysis by speed found that of vehicles traveling at or above 70 mph at the time of alerting, 26% reduced speeds by at least 5 mph. These speed reductions suggest drivers taking actional measures after receiving alerts. Future studies will involve further analysis on the impact of the types of alerts shown, roadway characteristics and overall traffic conditions on truck speeds passing through work zones.

文摘Building indoor dangerous behavior recognition is a specific application in the field of abnormal human recognition.A human dangerous behavior recognition method based on LSTM-GCN with attention mechanism(GLA)model was proposed aiming at the problem that the existing human skeleton-based action recognition methods cannot fully extract the temporal and spatial features.The network connects GCN and LSTMnetwork in series,and inputs the skeleton sequence extracted by GCN that contains spatial information into the LSTM layer for time sequence feature extraction,which fully excavates the temporal and spatial features of the skeleton sequence.Finally,an attention layer is designed to enhance the features of key bone points,and Softmax is used to classify and identify dangerous behaviors.The dangerous behavior datasets are derived from NTU-RGB+D and Kinetics data sets.Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively identify some dangerous behaviors in the building,and its accuracy is higher than those of other similar methods.
文摘Currently,it is difficult to extract the depth feature of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity signal,which leads to a decline in the accuracy and efficiency of the frontal emergency stops the dangerous activ-ity.Therefore,a recognition for frontal emergency stops dangerous activity algorithm based on Nano Internet of Things Sensor(NIoTS)and transfer learning is proposed.First,the NIoTS is installed in the athlete’s leg muscles to collect activity signals.Second,the noise component in the activity signal is removed using the de-noising method based on mathematical morphology.Finally,the depth feature of the activity signal is extracted through the deep transfer learning model,and the Euclidean distance between the extracted feature and the depth feature of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity signal is compared.If the European distance is small,it can be judged as the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity,and the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity recognition is realized.The results show that the average time delay of activity signal acquisition of the algorithm is low,the signal-to-noise ratio of the action signal is high,and the activity signal mean square error is low.The variance of the frontal emergency stops dangerous activity recognition does not exceed 0.5.The difference between the appearance time of the dangerous activity and the recognition time of the algorithm is 0.15 s,it can accurately and quickly recognize the frontal emergency stops the dangerous activity.

文摘Emotion recognition based on facial expressions is one of the most critical elements of human-machine interfaces.Most conventional methods for emotion recognition using facial expressions use the entire facial image to extract features and then recognize specific emotions through a pre-trained model.In contrast,this paper proposes a novel feature vector extraction method using the Euclidean distance between the landmarks changing their positions according to facial expressions,especially around the eyes,eyebrows,nose,andmouth.Then,we apply a newclassifier using an ensemble network to increase emotion recognition accuracy.The emotion recognition performance was compared with the conventional algorithms using public databases.The results indicated that the proposed method achieved higher accuracy than the traditional based on facial expressions for emotion recognition.In particular,our experiments with the FER2013 database show that our proposed method is robust to lighting conditions and backgrounds,with an average of 25% higher performance than previous studies.Consequently,the proposed method is expected to recognize facial expressions,especially fear and anger,to help prevent severe accidents by detecting security-related or dangerous actions in advance.

文摘When using high-voltage transmission lines for energy transmission in loess hilly regions,local extreme wind fields such as turbulence and high-speed cyclones occur from time to time,which can cause many kinds of mechanical and electrical failures,seriously affecting the reliable and stable energy transmission of the power grid.The existing research focuses on the wind field simulation of ideal micro-terrain and actual terrain with mostly single microterrain characteristics.Model boundary constraints and the influence of constrained boundaries are the main problems that need to be solved to accurately model and simulate complex flow fields.In this paper,a flow field simulation method based on circular boundary constraints is carried out.During the study,the influence of the model boundary and the selection conditions of themodeling range are systematically analyzed.It is more suitable to make sure that the air domain is 4 times higher than the height of the hill undulations,in addition to ensuring that there should be a minimum of 400 m between the study region and the boundary.Then,an actual terrain model of a power grid line in Shanxi is established,through the method proposed in this paper,the wind speed at the location of the transmission tower line under different wind directions is analyzed,and it is found that when the incidence direction is 45 degrees north by east the wind speed is the highest.The findings demonstrate that the circular boundary model has the advantage of more easily adjusting the wind incidence direction,in addition to theoretically reducing the errors caused by traditional models in boundary processing.It can accurately obtain the distribution characteristics of the flow field affected by the terrain,and quickly screen out the extreme working conditions that are most harmful to the transmission lines in the actual transmission line for energy transmission in complex loess hilly regions.
