METHODS: Random controlled trials (RCTs) were retrieved from databases, including Pubmed, China national knowledge infrastructure, Wanfang Data, VlP Information, and the Cochrane Library. Trials were selected according to inclusion criteria. The ef- fects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) versus prokinetic agents in the treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD) of liver-stomach disharmony syn- drome were compared by meta-analysis. RevMan 5.0.24 was used for data analysis. The effective rate was assessed by odds ratios (ORs), and 95% confi- dence intervals (C'/s) were calculated. The cure rate was analyzed by the Peto OR. Simple statistica~ anal- ysis was chosen to assess the frequency of pre- scribed Chinese herbs in treating this syndrome.RESULTS: Thirteen trials were included, involving 1153 patients, and these were of poor methodolog- ical quality. Twelve studies mentioned the effective rate and cure rate. TCM therapy showed a better clinical effect rate compared with that with proki- netic agents [OR: 3.2, 95% CI (2.27, 4.51)]. The TCM group also had a better cure rate than that in the group of prokinetic agents [Peto OR: 2.26, 95% CI (1.61, 3.18)]. With regard to the frequency of Chi- nese herbs used in these 13 trials, Baishao (Radix Paeoniae), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), and Gancao (Ra- dix Glycyrrhizae) were mostly prescribed, followed by Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi), Zhishi (Fructus Auran- tii Immaturus), Zhiqiao (Fructus Aurantii), Foshou (Citrus medica var.sarcodactylis), and Chenpi (Peri- carpium Citri Reticulatae). No serious adverse ef- fects were reported. CONCLUSION: TCM therapy shows a superior effec- tive rate and cure rate compared with those in pro- kinetic agents in the treatment of FD of liver-stom- ach disharmony syndrome. However, further strict- ly designed RCTs are required because of the poor quality of included trials.展开更多

The purpose of this study was to identify the potential risk factors and susceptible victims. This retrospective study analyses the data of 590 cases. Our study revealed that the victims were mostly males of 21 - 30 years, married (63.56%), illiterates (44.07%), low socioeconomic status and belong to rural areas. The laborers and farmers were almost equally affected in males and housewives in females. Outdoor incidents were more (61.86%). Majority of victims were innocent (82.20%) with no previous history of cognizable offence. Blood alcohol was found positive in 30.23% of victims. Sharp cutting weapons were mostly used, with hemorrhage and shock being the most common cause of death. Previous enmity and familial disharmony were the two common causes behind such heinous crime. Most victims had injuries over multiple body parts. Some potential risk factors and their preventive measures pointed at the end.展开更多

文摘In the last issue, two case reports separately present examples of the extremely rare and complex congenital heart diseases that show concordant atrioventricular connections to the L-looped ventricles in the presence of situs solitus. Both cases highlight that the relationship between the two ventricles within the ventricular mass is not always harmonious with the given atrioventricular connection.Such disharmony between the connections and relationships requires careful assessment of the three basic facets of cardiac building blocks, namely their morphology, the relationship of their component parts, and their connections with the adjacent segments.3D imaging and printing can now facilitate an otherwise difficult diagnosis in such complex situations.Rotation of either the 3D images or the models permit accurate assessment of the ventricular topologic pattern by creating the right ventricular en-face septal view, thus facilitating placement of the observer’s hands. As we now emphasize,an alternative approach, which might prove more attractive to imagers,is to rotate the ventricular mass to provide the ventricular apical view, thus permitting determination of the ventricular relationship without using the hands.
文摘Homicide has become a common practice reflecting anger in southern India. Some potential risk factors and their preventive measures pointed at the end.
文摘Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of application of Jiao Tai Pill on acupoint Shenque (CV 8) in the treatment of insomnia. Methods: A total of 152 subjects were randomized in visit sequence into two groups: a treatment group in which 76 cases were treated by application of Jiao Tai Pill on point Shenque (CV 8) and a control group in which 76 cases were treated by oral administration of Jiao Tai Pill, both with a course of four weeks. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to evaluate the clinical efficacy respectively before treatment, at one-week, two-week and four-week treatment, and one week, two weeks and four weeks after treatment. Results: After four-week treatment, the sleep quality had improved in both groups, with no statistical difference between the two groups; there was no side-effect and the sleep quality kept improving thereafter. Conclusion: Application of Jiao Tai Pill on point Shenque (CV 8) and oral administration of Jiao Tai Pill both have positive effects on insomnia and no apparent withdrawal reaction after treatment.
